I am eighty two years old and remember when we wore hats and gloves
Those were the days!
dian kreczmer My niece was thirteen for our wedding and wore long white gloves, looked dynamite 😊! When she was three, she told her Aunt Joey, who was dressing her, “Orange doesn’t go with brown.” In those shades, it didn’t. lol.
Kiss those days goodby,....today you have to be ....obese, wear dusty looking pajama pants and full of tatoos.
My mom used to talk about the day she and her coworkers in the typing pool looked out and saw a woman in pants walking down the street. The scandal!
@@armando6565
Uggh!
That's so fine of you! I wish those days of hats and gloves were back and men removed their hats indoors. Even in church men keep their hats on. So many curse and are vulgar. Sigh
I love everything Walter Matthau has ever done. He was one of the great ones. So funny and giving via his craft.
Walter Matthau was an underrated actor, and he could play different types easily - thugs, suave playboys, grumpy old men, intellectuals.
Even a leading man, like Charlie Varrick. And that guy with the whip (I forget the movie's name).
Loved him in Pelham 123.
Underrated?
Everybody knows Walter Matthau. I wouldn’t say he was underrated.
@@totallyfrozen *I absolutely agree with you Frozen. He is an icon!*
Was never underrated.
So he DID love her...in his ostensibly nonchalant way.
TheWriterWalker Tina Turner Syndrome 💔
Yikes.
@@louisaisthankful6455, lol. Why "yikes"?
Good question.
@TheWriterWalker Lol
Those were the old programs, still favorites for some who appreciate them!!!!
Absolutely!!
Yes indeed.
I love these old Hitchcock Presents shows, also The Twilight Zone
very sad story! He truly loved her that he risked his life to pay the money back!
he didn't love her, he just felt bad.
He was a fool and met a fool’s end.
Could her facial expressions make it more obvious she is doing something wrong?
Overkill, I'd say.
That’s the Hitchcock method. It’s what Hitch wanted. Remember, back then Hitchcock was a trailblazing pioneer of suspense in film. 60 years later, it’s been done to death so we see it as predictable and over acting.
all that side-eyeing at the bank sure doesn't look suspicious lol.
The og of side-eye.
I know. I wanted to tell her, "Smile, act normal, idiot!" But that would be tough.
🤣
Hmmmm. I never noticed until now how much attention Matthau can generate by his voice and manner . . .
QED right and his nose!
He’s always been good. I loved to see him teamed up with Jack Lemmon!
He was suave, good actor,poised......but when he got old he turned into a .....FART!.........
I like this format. I have a short attention span & always appreciate the "Executive Summary." Loved the "door" transition at about 8:30.
RIP Hitch, Walter... and Betty Field, the wanted kid Jim Ringerman's mother in "Coogan's Bluff." "Mothahood!"
Betty Field reminds me of Olivia de Havilland here.
Betty Fields made this episode!! A great actress!!
I remember him frm dennis the menace.. grumpy old man he was in that..
I have the same facial expressions when I grocery shop
Mississippi Mud lo
Lol
whoop whoop!😄
😄😂😛💯👍
🤣 you got that wright.
$9,000 in 1950 is equivalent in purchasing power of $97,998.56 in 2020. A difference of $88,998.56.
Annual inflation over this period was 3.47%
This wasn't 1950. It was 1960.
@@thankthelord4536 Got'em!😂
Value of $8,000 from 1960 to 2023
$8,000 in 1960 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $80,856.76 today, an increase of $72,856.76 over 63 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.74% per year between 1960 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 910.71%.
He borrowed $8,000
Betty Field was a great versatile actress.
"Mothahood!"
Yeah she could get it.🍻😂
3:13 Haha, I like how Harry keeps Helen waiting with his answer
He’d say, “I don’t know. Maybe” because he knew he was running risky business and never knew how his day would unfold.
Great series, the first time I've ever one. I'm old enough to remember how banking was done like that.
His active is really good I could see why he became a big star. Growing up I always seen him as an older man it's so weird to see him young...
Gosh, Mr. McBeeVee alias Lars Hanson before Mayberry and Little House on the Prairie? Excellent!
Wasn't Mr. McBeevey (on the Andy Griffith Show) played by Karl Swenson?
@@davegreene8588 Yup you're right! He played the brother in this one....He was also the voice of Merlin in Disney's "The Sword in the Stone"...very versatile man!
I love these; not only are they good, many come with intros by Hitch himself! And, I see great actors, male and female, like Matthau!
How about showing the whole Hitchcock episodes?! 💁🏼
And get shutdown by CZcams?
@@totallyfrozen They would do that?
"Keep your shirt on will ya" always turns up in these old shows. I guess in the old days guys were in the habit of pulling off their shirts when really pissed. 😁
One Man 1970 Yes-when a man wanted to fight he would rip his shirt off. I guess men preferred to fight shirtless years ago
@Ed Miller Ed, didn't you see the smiley face? Who's the numb-nuts now?
@@CZcamsallowedmynametobestolen haha
@Ed Miller Ed, three points:
1. I didn't use an emoji. Are you high on something?
2. It's a perversely narrow mind that thinks emojis shouldn't be used by adults or males.
3. I notice that since you had no defense, you tried draw attention away from the criticism against you by throwing lame insults. "Hey, everybody--don't notice what a dick I am! Instead look at how stupid I can make that guy look!"
Lame, lame, lame.
One Man 1970
Are you guys all on your meds? Where does the anger come from.
Lol. .....it’s true though. Emojis are for 13 year old girls. Those who can spell nor read for that matter.
I have a lot of old Hitchcock magazines. I read this years ago
Wow! That's amazing!💜
Women who do silly shit for a man need to watch this.
I watched twice and still don’t know what happened .!
Frances Gillotti
she got involved with a con man. When he saw how broken she was when he let her down, he conned a couple of mobsters to get the money for her. He knew he was risking - maybe even knew he was sacrificing - his life to get the $8K, but he did it because he genuinely had feelings for her.
The barkeep denied any knowledge of Harry because he didn’t want to be connected in any way to someone the Mob had killed.
Me too🤷🏻♀️.. well somebody has explained here.. il read that to understand..
Tracy Plantagenet 👏🏻👏🏻thank u😇
Hardly much of a story to present for AH. Avoidable.
@@tracyplantagenet9798 Many thanks for the explanation.
Thank you so much for uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
Walter Matthau
Helen had a crush on Harry Wade but it’s a fragile one. Hitchcock was always amazing !
📌Betty Field was married three times and had three children by her first husband Elmer Rice, who was a playwright. Her son became a lawyer and died at the age of 40 due to a swimming accident. Mrs. Field unfortunately passed away at the untimely age of 57 whilst other sources claims that she was 55 years of age. The cause of her death was cerebral hemorrhage on September 13/1973.🕊️🌹
I remember them being longer than 10 - 11 minutes . . . I also remember the Alfred Hitchcock HOUR . . .
I have them all on DVD both presents and the hour series
Well....yes. these are just partial episodes! Full length are available but not on this channel.
Wow, Harry is dead- she's still a virgin and I will always love Hitchcock -🌹
She and I went out and I can confidently say, she's not "innocent"....................
@@death2pc Right! Because I dated her 3 years before you.🍻😂
Betty Field? Nice to see her!
Walter was one of a kind!
The guy that played her brother..was the guy that had the lumber mill that Charles sometimes worked at in Little House on the Prairie 😊😊
If I could have been given a choice in life I would have loved to meet Walter Matthau, Jack Lemon and Debbie Reynolds. Those were 3 of my favorite actors. I think I have seen every movie those 3 were in.
I met Debbie Reynolds...for about three hours we shared an evening in Los Vegas. Food.....drinks...conversation. She was well...complex. Sometimes it's best to keep those people you admire the most .... at a distance.
To whoever in the comments said they watched it twice and still don’t understand it... “don’t you get it? Harry’s dead.” Nuf said.
A very touching resolution.
Walter was always funny even when it was a serious movie
Loved his humor.
What a magnificent man 🎁🏆🎯
I like All Of Mr Hitchcock work
She (Betty Field) played the over concerned mother in Picnic with William Holden & Kim Novak (1955). The lovely song Moonglow was featured in that movie. She was also in the Peyton Place movie, too.
also in Birdman of Alcatraz
@@mikecolby7924 Thanks I'll check it out. :)
'Picnic' is one of my all time favorite movies. I think it's nearly perfect.
Betty certainly was perfect playing Kim Novaks Mum.
One of my favorite Hitch Presents episodes. "Lumba, Lumba"........love Walter Matthau. See him with Elaine May in her "A New Leaf".
This was a good one
He looks exactly the same today.
Best show
New suscribe. Hitchcock addict here
These two are gonna get married ? Geeeeze.
I am so glad these Hitchcock movies are taking my mind off of politics....will these be here till election night.

That is Betty Field. You may remember her as the young farm wife in Of Mice and Men.
Why does she say she had dinner with him last week ? and the barkeep says he
has been gone for months ??
Just as i was enjoying this it end. How can i get the full movie??

$8000 you let a man borrow $8000. Hell to the no. She's a fool. You can't get $5 from me.
Where's the first part?
Will I see you tonight?
I don't know, maybe. Lol, Walter is Walter what you see is what you get, always admired his method of acting, from a Guide for the Married Man to The Odd Couple to Grumpy Old Men and Out To Sea Walter always delivers a good performance serious or his specialty Comedy R.I.P, gone but not forgotten thanks for the memories👍
Harry answered, "I don't know, maybe," because he didn't know whether he'll be dead or alive, after his meeting with the two men.
God this woman and her eye rolls.
Theauntieba, your niece is smart
I had long gloves too
I do not think you can even buy gloves anymore
How about some complete episodes?
The copyright cops... remember?
The underscoring is ridiculous. Can’t believe Hitch approved.
Very sad ending, nonetheless it was a great episode
I agree. Wow, he really did love her in his own way. Great actor and actress who portrayed Harry and Helen.
Whoopee, 10 minutes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Booo!
I dunno maybe
The actress is Betty Field isn't it?
Sea 4 Epi 17 is great
Will you post full episodes from time to time
GyrlBlaque Google it. Not public domain yet.
I agree but half of a Hitchcock episode is better then no episode
Hulu has them
I like these half-episodes. They seem like full short stories and I can watch 4 or 5 in one night instead of 1. We all halve limited time to live. The more we can experience, the better.
@Rachel K
My daughter-in-law makes same faces....
That Financial Deal made no sense to me?
The so called financial deal was just a scam after all the Walter character knew people in the mob.
Is that Mr. Wilson?
❤
"These guys be surprised getting paid on time" , geez~🤔
I love these episodes of Hitchcock Presents, but where can I find the full episodes?
For hell's sake people! Once again, from the start of the damn series, 1955 to 1962 the show was called "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and each story was this length, none of these were cut. Pad on commercial time and his episode specific monologue and epilogue and that's each episode. From 1962 on the episodes were longer and the show was rebranded "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour".
Hi Ms Green , Full episodes of Alfred Hitchcock presents is on WE TV. Kind regards, BW
@@pippishortstocking7913, you are absolutely wrong! These shows on YT are approximately 10-minute clips of the original "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episodes. Do your research. The reason they are cut is to get around copyright laws. All that's shown here is the gist of each story - not the complete episode. No one is confusing "Presents" with "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour."
Cutting the episode down to 11 minutes ruins all the tension building.
agreed.
the people use to be very classy and elegant not like now u see sombody coming to the bank with flip flap
Pizza pizzaaaaa.
Harry :(
A nonstarter. Walter Mathau's presence fooled me.
Where did the money go?
Oh my goodness I just figured out who the man is who owes the money .
Well ... no more suspense. Who is it ?
tubularAp her brother
“Will I see you tonight? I don’t know, maybe...” 😐
IKR I was shocked he showed up. Maybe because of the business he was in, he never knew himself.
(Not if I see you first).
Didn't he just ask her to dinner?
Harry obviously did love her or he would not gone out on a limb for her
Was there more to this I mean this very short
Yes, this is excerpts from an episode of a drama series. The video poster has edited the full drama down to the most crucial scenes so the gist of the story can be conveyed in a very short time.
I don't know, but I the episodes were almost certainly timed for either half-hour or one-hour time slots. (So about 25 or 50 minutes for the actual program, the rest for "commercials" (adverts).
Watched this the other night. Definitely noir. But tell me "Hitchcock Presents" CZcams channel, why can't you tell us the names of the actors? Yeah - we know it's Matthau - so we have to Google the episode to find out more info? Oh - and it's not "Very Moral Theft" it's "A Very Moral Theft". But thanks for posting. I guess.
RRUUDDE, Commericial,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Skssss~
How sad.
what an odd relationship
Love is where you find it... or think you have.
Typical codependent dysfunctional relationship.
Harry is Dead
impossible to watch because of the ruthless editing. plot makes no sense.
patricia S
I loved it! Hitchcock made us all believe that hairy was full of crap, but at the end Harry risk and lost his life for Helen.
No need to seek the ending now ^^
@@janjISMYname that's why you don't read the comments until AFTER viewing the show.
I understood the plot just fine.
@@BrittMFH The plot was nonexistent. If it's entirely predictable, what's the point? Harry "borrows" from a couple of shady characters and (no surprise) ends up dead. Where's the twist? Also, what's the business with the bar owner not knowing she and Harry were in the place a week before? Was she imagining it? Alternate reality? Bottom line, the story comes up short the way it was edited.
You need a "Thumbs Down" link for "I Dislike This Site" You don't seem to have anything but clips available. How about posting some complete videos?
WTF so the whole movie was only 10 mins long ? ..something wrong here !!!!!!
What a truly horrible ending
G walter gone 20 years now . 🤐
Maybe women desperate for marriage was a plot for several years after the second world war. Two huge engagements, the two world wars, took many able- bodied marriage age men out of the usa population. Almost every male in my family for three generations served in the USA military. I am here because my maternal grandfather and father were able to come back in one piece. My grandfather died a few years after fathering my mother. He was gassed in Belgium. He was a very talented artist. Then my mom grew up and married a guy who survived the Korean war with no serious scrapes. My two sisters and I are all baby boomers. Two husbands of three served in or during viet nam. The third guy was nowhere near service health level. anyway, just speculation on why this plot line occurs often in Hitchcock from decades ago. I don't know what the percentage of active duty military is with American males in the 20th century, but it has to be very high, because we have had huge numbers of vets for my entire lifetime ( born late 1958) and long before. American veteran services are large organizations, and we have had so many vets for so long that we have only recently started to better meet their many needs if injured seriously. Also, not being married and just living together was definitely not as acceptable as it is now. It has become the rule not the exception
Very sad 😂. She really loved him she risk her reputation and more.. stupid girl. She always pick the wrong one 😂
