  • In this video I tackle a question that may have not been asked if it wasn't for the steep progression of AI art and content within the past few years but most recently prompted by OpenAI's "Sora". But this video goes into much more depth than just answering a philosophical question. Throughout the video I discuss The future of content creation on CZcams and other platforms, pitfall conversations around A.I. , how ethical consumption of media may mimic vegetarianism in the food industry, and how authenticity may be the future of content creation. Join me by jumping into the future for 20 minutes and seeing what a AI art world may look like.

I love how you made a video on this topic. im glad we have similar viewpoints on this. I definitely think ai when its at its prime will definitely replace the way we consume media... and 90% of the people consuming it wont care about it.

Thanks man!! 90%! I hope it's not that high :o

@@JonahMadeAFilm personally I think your tier list analogy is right but as you said most people are already consuming generic short form content that is already ai generated and as someone that wants to support true creators as much as possible… I still see my self getting drowned in this content. Personally I think if you don’t already have a platform when ai content creation becomes perfect, it’s going to be really hard to get any attention for the better or worse

Great video. You definitely have great ideas about AI. Good to see some actually good discussions around these topics.

AI is a very prominent and scary topic. I think art has a soul as long as a soul made the art. One could pose the same question "do robots/computers have a soul?" If in the future, there were robots indistinguishable from humans, would you think they have a soul? Hopefully the answer is no. The soul lies in the human experience. However, the harsh truth is the world revolves around money, no matter any standpoint, there will be people and companies that source the cheapest to maximize profit. If Marvel could have Sora do all their VFX for them, I 100% believe they'd do it in an instant, they would not have to pay out millions of dollars to VFX houses, they'd get unlimited revisions, short amount of wait time, and they would keep all the saved money as profit. So while AI can be a helpful tool to current artists, I believe it will get to a point where it's going to get abused. It's already getting abused and it's not even close to its fullest potential yet. In the freelance music video space, i'm seeing more and more directors turning to AI for effects in their videos, they charge more for it, and they credit themselves as an editor, when reality is they are doing nothing. There are also plenty of directors who source editors for their videos yet don't credit them whatsoever. I think the harshest of truths is that this will ultimately be yet another thing that divides us as people, I can see half standing on the side of AI, and the other half on the side of Art, anybody who truly appreciates and understands art knows that Ai is not even truly capable of making art. I will explain further with my reply below

The definition of art is "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power" Ai cannot make art because Ai is not human, nor could it ever understand what it's like to be human. It's like race or gender, one race or gender could tell another what it's like to be them, but the other could never fully understand no matter how well their description is. Simply because they are not that person. Ai can gather and look at all the information and art we have to offer, yet it just copies and rearranges existing works, like you mentioned in your video it can't create new things. It can create a new arrangement of existing things, but no creative leaps can be taken. Ai cannot have a soul because Ai was not born with a soul. It's only limited to what we allow it to do, whereas humans primarily are not limited to anything except the laws of the universe.

If the fact that it's made by an AI changes your opinion about the art, especially when it's indistinguishable and the quality is the same, I don't think you never liked the art in the first place.

I'm an artist as well, and the more I think about the endgame of AI models, I think that, the more I think that, you know, human expression is over. It could just do it better than you. It just express everything better than you, you know. I think we're very, very constrained. Even, I think if we ever get the utopia of AIs doing everything, AIs would do literally everything, and we'll be at the backseat watching AI-generated realities through our Neuralink that can input information.

I think the mistake is that AI is going to be D-tier content. I think it's going to be much better than that. But yeah, in the short term, I guess I agree. But I think if the scaling laws hold, we will get AGI in five years, like Sam Altman says. If you don't have any idea of the scaling laws, basically, if you throw more compute, put in parameters, and more data at an AI architecture like the Transformer model, which is GPT-3 and probably GPT-4, some modified version, probably it's GPT-4, it gets linearly better, it's a straight diagonal line. Basically, it's able to predict sentences, internet sentences, or the RGB sequence of an image. It has a better world model, so the complexity of the data becomes the complexity of the model. So we can use that to make it generate interesting things. So I guess that we're much better than D-tier content. Emotionally speaking, I think your tier is obviously based on emotional connection. So emotionally speaking, I think even a GPT-5 level model would be much higher in the tier list of emotional connection. I don't know. Did you watch the David Shapiro video where he let Clog 3 talk? I think that's a very good example of getting emotional connection from AI. And it can replicate a certain style that has a certain emotional quality that people gravitate to. I don't know. I made a Hunter S. Thompson-esque report on the AI apocalypse. It's a whole sci-fi story thing. But it has the cadence already. It's just, you know, it's acquired all the abstract qualities of Hunter S. Thompson. So I don't think a GPT-5 level system would have a very hard time replicating the emotional resonance that a creator already has.

I think authenticity is just an aesthetic that people and AI of course can just mimic. You know, it's a certain cadence, it's a certain way of saying things. It's some unpolished quality. And if AI could do that, or it's just, if there's enough data available of what people find authentic, AI would be able to replicate that. I think it would have a better theory, internal theory, of what people find authentic. I think a GPT-5 or maybe 6 level system would definitely be able to pull that off. I don't think you're taking your argument very seriously, or taking the implication seriously, that the endgame of AI content creation very seriously.
