I am not sure Marner would agree to go to any of these locations.
And let's be honest, not only would Marner NOT waive to go to a backwater team after being one of the famous ''Bieber Buddies'' here in Toronto, there's no way his agent is letting him go anywhere that wouldn't increase (or at least maintain) his endorsement contracts. And let's be even more real but admitting the TOP reason TML brass won't get rid of our ''core-4'' (beyond bad contracts) is that they're so marketable and excellent cash-cows for Leafs merchandise. There's no way TML brass is getting rid of the money that the Bieber-Buddies bring in.

The leafs biggest problem isthat they try to score perfect beautiful goals instead of shooting and going to the net ! The playoff poweplay would be much better

If you think Marner, Nylander & Tavares aren't equally horrible as Matthews (who gets paid the MOST out of them) you really aren't paying attention. But I'm with you on the whole ''what if'' fantasy game - let's imagine getting rid of the WHOLE core-4! The team you could build around those salaries would be INSANE when added to what the Leafs already have

7 games. 3 pts. 12 shots on net. Morgan Reilly had more shots, Nylander had more shots and points in fewer games, Matthews had more shots and points in fewer games. This was the series Mitch had the chance to be a hero and he was more of an 11 million dollar weight.

If Marner goes anywhere it’ll be a contending team and the leafs will have to eat half his money for the season. An important reason to trade Marner is to be able to deal with the salary cap. What would be the effect of each of these trades on the salary cap?
You must be new to Toronto (or haven't followed the Leafs for the past 6-7yrs)... Salary Cap shmalory cap - we know how to dump ALL of our team's resources into 4 players and get bottom end players (or players at the end of their careers who want to play at least one season for Toronto) to fill out the rest of the roster. Sky is the limit for our special Bieber Buddies whose agents and tons of casual fans think they're the greatest thing on the earth since sliced bread. You heard it yourself - Marner rightly said that people consider him and the others ''gods'' (and he's not wrong about - the problem is that he certainly hasn't minded enjoying or taking advantage of his 'god-image' while here).
I like the Kent Johnson + 4th overall pick best. First and foremost, try to flip that pick for a top two-way D. If unavailable, no problem: lots of intriguing D available near the 4-spot in that draft.

Why would anyone give up assets for Marner? His own fanbase is saying he is overpaid and useless. If you wait until next year you can sign him at no cost and to hear Leafs' fans at a lower cap hit.
That Seattle deal ain't gonna happen. Marner has baggage dude. Don't over-value him.
Riley can't play defense doesn't take the body only use stick check like tj brodie that's why he didn't play ,need guys like macabe takes the body and fights if needed true warrior.

id do the Larsson and Wright trade today if it was possible. Big D man and almost $7M in freed up cap space. Hell no to the Flames trade. Markstrom isn't reliable anymore. His numbers last year were not "great" and Minten is too good.
Can we please just sign 1D goalie as goalies value is quite low in trades and lower our cost in trade with Calgary? I like Seattle trade much better in a way that we are getting value for today and potential for tomorrow and don’t disrupt roaster that much making it stronger for sure.
To be totally honest I'm not opposed to keeping the team together for another season if we don't get a lights out offer for Mitch. You don't give away a player like this unless your confident you are getting a package of things that can help U now and the future. And the things that can help you now have to be substantial.
Reason I'm not opposed is JT is off the books after next season so there is 11m cap space there. Go out and get a goalie bring back Domi trade David Kampf free up a bit more money. Sure up the d core through trade or free agency and see how it goes. With component goaltending the leafs are probably into the second round easy imo. Their problem is Woll is always hurt so you can't count on him to give you any kind of consistent run. Bring in a true #1, sure up the D and fill the roster again. Run it back again. Poor asset management is not the answer for any of the core 5. If U are going to trade any of them make it bloody well worth it.

Of the four, the Columbus option is the best for the Leafs... the Philadelphia option isn't bad either... the other two proposals would be a big HELL NO - lol.
I believe with his NTC, most trade may be impossible. But NYI has a familiar face in Lou Lamoriello as a Toronto connection. NYI has a high ranked defensive and may need more room Dodson. So, my trade would be

Poluck is locked up for a few years. Give a decent 1-2 punch on defense,and Nelson at $6m/1yr may sign on a team friendly. But a big body that can give all positions in all situations and good leader that can replacement for Bertuzzi which maybe impossible to keep.
Leafs would be stupid to let him go . He's a 100-point player and Matthews "guy" .. if he goes, Matthews will be next. NOT ONE Leaf played a 7 game solid series. The goalies , the defense, or any forwards were solid , you can't get rid of them all. It isn't a Mitch problem, it's a motivation problem. A special teams coach has to also be brought in to get the full talent from these guys

It’s time to admit this isn’t working. There needs to be a change, and it has to be one of the 11M+ boys. Can’t spend this type of money while getting little back in playoff production.
He was 100 point player. He has to grow up.
Flames deal would be better without giving up Minten, i think that takes it from a fair trade to a one sided win for Flames.

All 4 of these trades are not good, the best is Columbus BJ's, but hilly, Seattle, Calgary and are non starters in my opinion without draft picks. We need youth and can sign two top 4 defence men in free agency. Young talented players and draft picks are what we need for Marner.
Whats wrong with the leafs?
The front office. Why? They never replaced muzzin after his career ending injury. Had 22 mil in the offseason, lost klingberg and never replaced. Other then Rielly the leafs simply do not have top 4 D yet the expect to win anything. Prime example the last 2 regular season games. A plethora of 3rd pairing dmen playing minutes they shouldn't be will cost you every time. Why the front office kept theirs jobs is unfathomable. Its their job to provide the tools to win.

I say "No" to the Calgary trade. They have a big headache already in Huberdeau; they do not need two. The 3-team trade seems interesting. The last trade is awful for the Blue Jackets (see the Calgary trade and substitute name mentioned for Johnny Hockey).
The Seattle trade is the best one but the Kraken would probably have to sweeten the pot with a 2nd or 3rd rd pick to make it happen.

Good luck replacing his points, assists, dishes to Mathews, TOI (ES, PK, PP) and look at his Playoff Points over his career with the Leafs. Don't look at ShanaPLAN Shanahan or his pick for GM???!!! I would keep Marner, Mathews, Willy and get some GOOD hockey men who would change the culture and build a great supporting cast. Toronto, the City, media and hockey club are so full of drama it makes me puke.
Matthews/Tavares/Marner is the highest paid trio in the league. With Nylander’s extension, he just replaces Tavares. None of these guys are point/game in the playoffs. The Leafs are spending more than anybody on their stars, while getting back very little in playoff production. This model has been a complete failure. The core doesn’t work, and it will not work. It’s time to move on from one of them - Tavares as well.
Re-signing Marner would be the dumbest decision this franchise could make. He’s not worth 12M. He’s not a top-10 player. He’s not a playoff performer. The other guys aren’t great playoff performers either, but they’re already extended (Matthews, Nylander). Enough is enough. This isn’t going to work.

Marner's trade value is at its lowest. Poor playoff followed by getting dragged through the mud by Leaf nation. No one wants to help the Leafs and no GM is giving up a great piece to get this guy. Cap space, no trade clause, bad rep and desperation will all add up to Toronto losing the deal.
I assure you, Mitch has trade value but to think he’s going to waive to go to non playoff teams is ridiculous. I assure you Colorado, Carolina, Florida, Dallas and any team with real leadership and quality players will take him and he’ll accept. The leafs won’t get fair trade value but they’ll get half of his money off the books

He's not going anywhere... he's too marketable to Toronto ''Leaf fans'' for them to give up. However in a PERFECT world, I'd be ok with him going off to Calgary in exchange for Weegar & Vladar (and we benefit the extra 3-mil in cap space)... Will Calgary go for that after stripping their D-core this season? Probably not.
wow just because marner doesn't respect the toronto media, the media uses him as a scape goat for the failed playoff series lol! marner did not lose this series. the weak goaltending, samsonov letting soft goals cost them the series. the boston forwards and toronto's forwards were evenly matched.

Why would a GM give up assets for an 85 point, 11+ million dollar player who under performs in the playoffs? Not good value. The GM would also inherit an albatross contract. LA did as much with PLD and they are already done with him, and stuck. Marner will probably end up a free agent and go the way of Drouin.
He needs to go...no defensive effort at key moments in the playoffs and afraid of contact etc
Marner if he decides to sign off is no trade he wants to go to a contender not a losing team in Calgary. Just don’t fit the bill.

I’d literally take just a 3rd rounder for Marner in the off season. That’s 11mil off the cap for free agency and to sign Bert and Domi.
I would move Mathews before Marner. Marner played in the OHL, long season and similar playoff format, won Memorial Cup. Mathews played short NCAA season and has been a playoff no show, year after year. This year 69 regular season goals and 1 PO. The Leafs biggest problem is coaching, at times this year they played like they were trying to get Keefe fired. Treliving was brought in a year ago, not his coach, not his team, yet. He needs time to put his pieces in place. Time is the last thing Toronto fans and Media want to invest. Personally I'd like to see Torts behind the bench, at least the pressers would be good, right Brooksy.
