  • The 2024 Chessable Masters is the first of four events preceding the Champions Chess Tour live Finals. The winner of the event pockets $30,000 and guarantees a spot at the CCT Finals. Carlsen, Vachier-Lagrave and Fedoseev have already earned spots in the Chessable Masters Division I based on their performance in 2023's last CCT event!
    🏆 www.chess.com/events/info/202...
    The 2024 Champions Chess Tour (CCT) is Chess.com's most important event series of the year with the overall winner being crowned Tour Champion, the highest annual honor conferred by the world's largest chess platform. New for 2024, each regular season event has had its prize pool increased from $235,000 last year to $300,000-the largest ever offered for CCT events outside the Tour Finals. The pool for the Tour Finals remains $500,000 making the total available on the Tour a cool $1.7 million. Also new for 2024, the time control for every stage will be 10+2.

    Its no about talent anymore bcoz no competition.... it's only about magnus's mood and choice if he wants to win or not

      Bro. As much as we love Magnus, you can't just deny the brilliance by Alireza. Magnus may not have been playing his best, but he definitely wasn't losing on purpose.
      Alireza defeated Magnus two times in a row and that's a fact.
      Ofcourse Magnus is still the king.

      Like jan gustafson says , any decent 2700 can win a game against any player. But to win a match it is very hard. & like magnus says , the longer the match goes his chances to win goes exponentially high (like 10-12 games he can easily win 6-7 while opponent can only win 1-2)

      I beg to differ. Magnus' positional understanding is as great as it always was. But tactically, he's more vulnerable than he used to be.

    Wow! I was so hyped up after Magnus lost two games in a row and then fought back to win 2 games back into a tie-break! Then Magnus fought in the final battle for supremacy and destroyed Firouzja 2-0! Magnificent job Magnus! Congratulations on your hard-core fight in the finale!

      He didn’t have to fight for a tie break, he’s on the winners side so he would need to lose 2 best of 3’s to get knocked out of the tournament

  • @goodguycwyzz4768
    @goodguycwyzz4768 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Hi guys I will explain double elimination tournament here.
    There are 2 brackets. A winners bracket and a losers bracket. You need to lose from both brackets to be knocked out of the tournament.
    Since Alireza lost earlier already he is in the losers bracket already, while Magnus has not lost yet he stays on the winners side. This means that Alireza needs to beat Magnus twice to knock him out.
    Once to knock him from the winners bracket to the losers bracket, and once again to knock him out of the tournament completely.
    Magnus only has to beat Alireza once to knock him out of the tournament, as Alireza is already on the loser bracket.

    • @vlj1133
      @vlj1133 Před 4 měsíci +2

      It's a double-elimination tournament. No player is eliminated until he's lost two matches. Alireza's victory in today's first match was Magnus's first lost match of the tournament. The loser's bracket winner (Alireza) had already lost one match, so he had to beat Magnus two matches in a row in the Final in order to win the tournament. MVL pulled off that feat in one of last year's CCT events.

    • @noone-ld7pt
      @noone-ld7pt Před 4 měsíci

      It's a double elimination tournament so all players essentially have 2 lives. Alireza had already lost a match earlier and gone to the losers bracket, while Magnus had both his "lives" left going into the match. So when he lost the first it just equalized the score.

    When you lose mid tournament and get sent to losers bracket, are the subsequent games there best of 2.... or is that just in the grand final? Either way that's dumb AF, but if it's just in the grand final then WOW that's just brain dead.

      @@ryansingingbecause this match is grand final. Magnus wons the final against Denis Lazavik and he reached the grand final from winner bracket, so Magnus have 2 lives. But Alireza reached grand final from losser bracket, so he just have 1 lives.
