    This video made me very emotional. I am here in the UK and my gut feeling is its going down hill and fast. Things are hard even when your earning good money. Socially things are in turmoil, youth seem hopeless and lazy, adults negative and brainwashed by the media. Lots of elderly people just wondering around. My husband and I have been talking about moving to Morocco for a few years now, this video is just another shove in that direction. We are visiting Morocco over the Christmas period to check out the situation on the groud as it were.....I'm hoping to get good vibes. Please keep these videos coming. Thank you.

      Thank you for your comment. I know what you mean about the UK. It's not a place to flourish. I have become more successful and more happy since leaving the UK. As you are thinking of moving, can I suggest two other videos on my channel? One is "Why I Left The UK" czcams.com/video/QsTK8iPRHdY/video.html and "Why I Live In Morocco" czcams.com/video/mhgoDdvFG9w/video.html

      @@GariSullivan thank you. Its been almost 5 years since we have been to Morocco so I'm interested to see the difference. We are flying in to Tangier which had so much construction going on when we were there last time so hopefully will see some progress although I'm guessing covid put a hold on some stuff. Have you done any videos on how Morocco is recovering from covid? I'm so pleased to see restrictions are gone, we waited patiently for things to change. Thanks.

    Thank you very much for this sleek and interesting video. I've lived in the UK for 24 years and I've always been interested in world politics and current affairs. What happened politically in the UK over < at least > the last 3 years, is truly mind blowing and redefines the true meaning of Politics and Democracy!...I'm originally from Morocco, where I studied at university in the 90's and I agree with your opinion about what Morocco has been doing economically and socially over the last 2 decades. I just came back from Morocco and I've seen The Change.

      What is happening in the UK is very sad, but it is of its own doing. For decades, it has under-valued its people. I am not surprised you have seen the change in Morocco. I plan to go back to the UK soon for a holiday. I hope I am not too disappointed at what I see there.

    Thank you for this video, Gari. But l'm afraid you sound a bit hyperbolic. It's not over (yet) for the UK, and the whole thing could ultimately turn out to be just a blip. After all the whole world is facing hard times. As for Morocco, I wish you were right. True, big things have been done but my country still has a long way to go especially on health and education before it can hope to reach the UK, let alone surpass it.

    • @GariSullivan
      @GariSullivan  Před rokem +4

      If it is a blip, it's the longest blip in history. I am old enough to remember and enjoy the 1980s. It was a party decade when Maggie Thatcher threw away all the money we made from the early days of oil in the North Sea. (Look at what Norway did by comparison) Since then, the UK has been going down. Under-funding health, schools, and local for decades. Now we are facing even more cuts.
      It's true Morocco has a long to go, but at least it is travelling in the right direction. It may be another 25-30 years, but imagine how much further the UK will fall in that time. By about 2050, Morocco and the UK will be almost equal.

    While the people forget that freedom, democracy and success were hard fought for and are not a natural state of things but rather an ongoing struggle.

    it is 2023 and Morocco are still poor and people suffer from extreme poverty. Some Moroccans can not even afford to buy one potatoes . I wonder what wealth were you referring to. the poverty line in Morocco is set at approximately 2 US dollars a day, which means that anyone living under 2 dollars is poor and those who earn 2 dollar or over a day are not. But, If you were given 4 or even 5 dollars a day, you would not be able to cover you living expense for a day. in term of education, Morocco improve only the education in private schools, and the state schools lack educators, classes, tables and many other important things. If Morocco really had a good education, you would not find professors and teachers protesting before Parliament. You should visit morocco yourself and see people eating from recycle bin, other sleeping on the street and those who die because of starvation.
    thank you for the video.

    • @GariSullivan
      @GariSullivan  Před rokem +4

      Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to write a long, detailed response to it.
      I agree with you when you say "Morocco is still poor and people suffer from extreme poverty" In my video, I am not saying that Morocco is perfect. What I was trying to express is that Morocco is moving forward. It values things such as public services. In the UK, the government is cutting back on the important things. Our schools and hospitals are literally crumbling.
      When I speak with Moroccans about the next ten/twenty years, they are very positive. You get the opposite reaction when you talks to the British about their country.
      Finally, I try to point out that Morocco knows it has work to do. You are right that it's education, welfare and health systems need massive improvement. Morocco sees that truth. The UK also needs to invest in its public services, but it cannot admit it is that the greatest country on Earth. The UK doesn't have the courage and honesty to admit it needs to improve. Morocco has that honesty. Maybe that is the most important lesson of all that Morocco can teach the UK.
