- Earlier this year I took my first trip away from the U.K on my bike. I was riding solo and here's part one. Many thanks to www.countrysideholidaysinfrance.co.uk for their warm hospitality. As always thanks for watching.

I have done many Euro trips solo ... Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, South of France, Italy and lasy year the Alps and I love it. No worrying about anone else or if they want to do some other route etc ... just do what you want. I enjoy meeting other folk whan you stop for a coffee or when you finish riding and have a beer ... but actual riding then solo everytime. Your vid was great, I hope you enjoy another trip as its the best way to travel ... well done
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I did have a trip planned for this month but with what is going on right now,it won't be happening this year-never mind there is always next year onwards and upwards
Can’t get me leg over 😂😂🤣huge kudos to you for going on your own. Just looking at exploring Brittany, so that’s what brought me here!
Done the same myself in July, arrived in Calais and rode through to the d day beaches and back, 5 days riding solo, enjoyed every minute and can’t wait to do it again
I really wanted to go to Normandy but didn't make it that time. I will go again and go there. I feel the same I can't wait for my next trip :)
@@TheSussexBiker Eurotunnel was only 65 quid return so went that way, next time maybe ferry to santander for the pyrenees
Only been twice (on the bike) and its amazing how quickly the nervousness and butterflies from the first day getting off the ferry vanishes. 👍
Yeah I was nervous as anything but once I got to France I had no choice but to press on and I got on with it and soon settled down :)
Thankyou exactly what I intend to do and never done it before so Thankyou great job very brave well done
Good luck and let me know how it goes safe travels :)
This is a dream that I will accomplish one day. Nice one for sharing this series 👍
Good to hear - I hope you make it happen :)
3 years and still inspiring! I’m in Sussex, new to motorcycling, and looking to tour Europe sometime. Thanks for sharing this. I’ll be checking out your Vosges content too, your still touring - that’s a plus! 👏👍🏻
Thanks for watching and commenting. I absolutely love riding in Europe, brilliant roads and scenery I really enjoyed France but for me Germany was better, picos is next on the wish list :)
Very informative video like you I want take my bike abroad touring probably be on my own nice see what happens on ferry too. Outside cabin is always best u wake up some sort views. I’d done inside cabins before on crossing over North Atlantic& Norwegian Sea as foot passenger that unpleasant.
I traveled lot in Europe but on trains as railway employee. Now time pluck courage go on bike myself lot places I wasn’t able get to with train but will on 2 wheels explore so much more.
Thanks for watching and commenting , I definitely want to see more of Europe. My advice get on your bike and explore, it's one of the best things I ever did :)
Ive done both sorts of bike touring. 1. Expensive 1 litre bike, all the gear, satnav, hotels, restaurants etc
2. Cheap old slow bike, map n compass, zero gear, camping at the roadside
Option 2 in a funny kinda way is a lot more fun.
Option 2 sounds fun, maybe one day I'll try it.
Well done, good watch
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
First time riding abroad, on your own? Getting used to the roads, following directions, it's certainly less stressful as part of a group - Kudos to you!
Thanks very much. Yes first time and on my own but it turned out great and definitely was one of the best things I've ever done :)
Me and me mate are planning this soon. Cant wait to do it.
Hope you have a good time, enjoy it and ride safe:)
Ride safe and enjoy the trip
Cheers I did enjoy the trip,it was filmed earlier this year :)
Good effort going on your own! I've found solo riding much nicer than being in a group. Getting lost isn't a problem with modern sat nav and the risk of crashes is much less if you only have to look out for yourself. The priorité à droite rule is a VERY important thing to remember in the villages. I have been to France more than 40 times in the last 20 years and seen LOTS of accidents where forgetting this rule, has had dire consequences. It is a rule from the early 20th century and "hard wired" in to older French motorists. It's a dangerous antiquated regulation, older French motorists will even still crash into a Police car that doesn't give way to them! Treat all cars as "Out to get you" and you will stay safe!
Thanks for the comments :)
@@TheSussexBiker I mention this as being hard wired into older French motorists as someone having been the recipient of some serious road rage from an "eighty something" French woman who drove at me once when I failed to let her out of a French market parking. I was in a lorry at the time and it didn't deter her exercising her right as she saw them! :) Goodness knows what she would have done to me if I'd been on my motorbike!
With regard to the priorite a droite. The sign you will see most is the yellow diamond with a white border. This means that the road you are on has priority . The same sign with a black line across it means you don't have priority. As far as speeding goes always observe speed limits in villages and towns and going to roundabouts. The French Police love to use roundabout as drink driving / speed check points. Having said all that just stay sensible you wouldn't race mad around your home area so why go to France to do that. The driving on the right usually isn't a problem for the first few days as you are super consecrating from day 3 on you begin to relax and that is when you need to be on your guard. Thank you for posting I enjoyed your honesty. Living where you do you could be going to the France for long weekends. Jealous :)
Yes I would definitely go back, hopefully when the returns back to normal I can go again. I found I adapted quicker than I thought to being on the 'wrong' side and yes there was no chance I was going to ride like an idiot and take my chances with the French police!
I was looking forward to a planned trip to the Isle of man with brother and work mate but !! Yes they cancelled last minute, so I just went. Still one of my best trips . Mike Ireland 🇮🇪
Nice to hear glad you had a good one :)
Hi, I stumbled on this video at just the right time. I've been planning a solo motorcycle road trip to Europe and feared the worse. Visiting France, the regulations, driving on the right and seeking nightly accomodation and keeping the bike safe.
Watching this video helped, any other tips you have would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards Rob 👍
Hi thanks for watching and commenting, Good luck I promise you'll enjoy it :)
You get likes from me just for those street triple videos !
Cheers :) Thanks very much
Enquiry: How did you secure the bike, once on the ferry?.
They do it for you, I had no complaints it was safely and securely strapped with no damage.
My dad got pulled up for speeding and they took him to the cash machine and he had new card and never new his pin they said today sir is your lucky day and let him go to catch the ferry he nearly missed
I'd heard stories like that, so I made sure I was on my best behaviour :)
