Aw c'mon, that's not even the first living sun we've seen on Doctor Who. If memory serves (New Who memory anyway), the first would've been back in "42".
When you speed up the clip of their technobabble like you did, it almost sounds like Dr. Seuss. Love it.
Omg it totally does 😅😅😅
British tanks had a hot pot to brew tea before the American tanks had a similar hot pot.
That's so funny omg
Very fun walk through this episode. I agree, the resolution to the Meep stuff was a bit bland, but I suppose it was mostly there in service to the reunion of the Doc and Donna. Rose is a great addition. Relationship to Donna aside, the whole FINALLY realizing who you are after an entire lifetime of having all of these things hidden from yourself...I just feel like that has way too much potential to wrap up in just these last 2 specials.
Seriously, I hope she gets to travel with Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor!
Yes please! I hope her lack of inclusion in that season promotion doesn't mean anything bad happens in the specials!@@renrants
@windgraceproject omg it better not or I'll be upset
I don't think they will...but not long to wait in order to find out!@@renrants
Good clip of Eccleston there...and true. Just THAT once, everybody lived.
It always makes me tear up
It's so good Ren to see you back doing this. I hope you are well 🙂
Thank you so much! I've finally gotten back into the groove of uploading consistently again and it's definitely nice!
@@renrants Nice is good... I have a smile because I had a horrendous year, nearly left the planet, and now it's okay so I know how nice feels and it's a great feeling.
@garth1967 I'm glad you're still with us! ❤️
Aw crud. That DID look deliberate. I missed it the first time around.
I wanna know if they're gonna have it actually be on purpose in the story or keep pretending it's an accident 😅
Well... I enjoyed watching this episode a lot more until you made me think about it! 🤣Kidding, at least somewhat, I did enjoy it for what it was and can appreciate the larger story it told, overlooking most of the holes that you rightly noted! I did definitely, and still do, enjoy the character development, revisiting Donna even though I didn't really watch Doctor Who at that time, particularly meeting the rest of her family... but more so the potential future explorations of these characters given where these specials went in the 2nd and 3rd installments (even though I have issues with them too)! Thanks so much for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it! I still really liked the episode too, even with the issues I had with it, it's impossible to resist Catherine Tate and David Tennant together again 🥺😊
The second and third installments also ranked higher for me, I did reviews for them as well. 🤣
I thought two was the best standalone episode of the three but the third one had such a wonderful ending
At least the Meep from Phineas and Ferb was cute and NICE...
Yes decidedly rude Meep for sure 😅
I'm glad we finally have some new eps again. Also that we finally get an xmas special again. You may not be aware the actor that played wilf passed away so sadly we don't see him again. :( RIP Wilf.
I did hear about Bernard Cribbins, I had just hoped he had a few more scenes, but alas :(
He was great :) I will miss him as well. Such a great character. @@renrants
Truly, also so much respect that he was still acting in his 90s, what an incredible man!
I agree
Great review
Thank you!
I liked the story from the comic this is based on, but I completely understand why others don’t.
Thankfully there’s enough new stuff in here that it can stand up on it’s own.
I still need to check out the comic! Is three a lot of overlap?
@@renrants
A bit. There’s shorthand used to convince the grasshoppers, the pacing is a little looser in the reveal of the Meep, different Doctor (Tom Baker I think), the people to find the Meep are just two kids, and the Meep tries the “evil twin” trick.
(I’d send a link to the Comic Tropes channel, but YT doesn’t seem to like that.)
WILLLLLLLLLFFFFF...I'm not crying. YOU'RE crying.
I'm definitely crying 😭😭
Yes something I'm already watching. I haven't seen your video yet. I love David Tennant. I only wish he had more than 3 shows! I gave the show a subjective 10 out of 10. :) I'm a long time Doctor Who fan I watched on PBS before TNG came out in the 80's sometime I think. Getting side tracked I'm not that pro Trans really.
But trans people are just out here existing? It's weird not to be pro other people existing 😅
I loved this episode, but I think the latest special, Wild Blue Yonder really blew me away
Yeahhhh...could've brought the hair down a touch.
I kind of loved it 😅
What the hell was that? UNIT used to be good people. Kate Stewart ran it. Martha worked for them. THE DOCTOR worked for them.
I mean Unit mostly seems good
@ 11:34
I think the dialogue could have been tweaked - maybe just have the Doctor ask for pronouns instead of being lightly scolded by Rose for "assuming the Meep's gender" (there is a negative stereotype about trans people being "aggressive" about pronouns - no one actually says stuff like "did you assume my gender")
On one hand, I didn't terribly mind him being called out on it because she wasn't super rude about it, and it speaks to how even the doctor can make assumptions and learn to do better, but I also totally agree it's not great optics especially with the scene towards the end of the episode where they kind of neg him for being a man and pretend he couldn't possibly have thought of "let it go" as an option if it was one
It also feels a bit irresponsible of the writers because it makes it even more likely the actors will be harassed by the "anti-woke" mob
@@renrants So I thought 'Let it Go' was a Disney Frozen reference.
@johnhirose9608 I was soooo close to adding a Frozen clip there, but then I got lazy 🤣
15:54 This is the moment when the over smart daughter found out that MEEP's pronoun is definitely "He", and the Doctor was vindicated. Hahahahahaha
I used to watch a lot of British shows, but now there are only some very few shows that I have actually watched after the year 2000.
I only like the British shows which were made before the year 2000. Good old days.
As British people are very straight forward people, especially the Irish people, they say what it is as it is, and say it like how they really feel inside. No fake stuff at all.
But today's culture has forced them to block out all of their natural behaviors, making most of the British shows very un-natural, bland humor and hard to watch.
Welcome to the fake world, so sad for the British people who were already making good shows.
