Staying in a 280 Year Old Jaipur House. 🇮🇳

- My accommodation in Jaipur, India was a 280 year old grand house that was very recently converted into a homestay.
As much as I like fancy hotels with a gym, pool and massive buffet breakfast, they get a bit boring after a while. It's nice to stay in a local homestay every now and then and experience something unique, especially ones that come with a story.
Jaipur Haveli was built in 1740 and is located in a residential block in Johari Bazar in Jaipur's Pink City. This is an old area of the city that's full of life. Narrow streets with local businesses, street vendors and monkeys running along the rooftops. There's no big hotels in the area so the only opportunity to stay there is in a small homestay type of accommodation.
Unbeknownst to me when I was booking my stay at Jaipur Haveli, it was rated as the best hotel in all of India in 2018, soon after it opened. It's obvious why it achieved such an accolade as it's a very special and unique place and the level of hospitality shown by the family who own it is incredible.
The room was a little small for my liking as I usually want a place where I can set my laptop up at a desk. I was only there for a couple of nights though with no plans to do any work so it was sufficient. A cozy room to crash in after spending all day having adventures in Jaipur.

It's senseless for someone to give this hotel a low rating. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and are very opened and communicative. The English lab is really a great addition to the family. I'd definitely stay here.

To the sad person who marked the score down for having no water or electricity for two hours, go stay in the Holiday Inn, or go home.
You experience and learn so much more staying in a genuine welcoming Indian place than some international shit hotel chain.
No doubt they went looking for yellow cab, Disneyland and Starbucks once they had checked in, bloody idiots!

Dale, What a lovely homestay run by obviously a wonderful family, the Indian people are so kind and considerate, also there attention to decoration and detail takes a lot of beating.

Amazing family and one of the healthiest dogs I've ever seen in India, clearly a family of dog lovers which, for me is a super recomendation.

Jaipur is amazing, worth a visit and know more about it. . Three hundred years old city. The architect, and construction of it can amaze people today. I still can't come across a more well planned place.

The Building you stayed in was so amazing. History is so important and to live in it is even better. The owners are so helpful and polite. Not for getting Jackie Stewart the dog. :)

That's my city. Great video. The old part of the city has lot many old properties. This one is very well maintained. Generally I avoid such properties because I wish to experience something new but even I would want to stay here.

Okay but finding Arabic culture and it's reminiscent symbols in India, especially in this part of the country is mostly due to the stereotypes propagated by International media especially western propaganda. The murals, the building design and the artefacts in this old Jaipur Haveli are a niche to this region with little to no influence from Arabic or Persian culture. I would appreciate if people could free themselves of this stereotyping and become more aware as the world becomes more and more global by the day.

I was purely commenting on nothing else than how i love the architecture, and yeah i recognized it from the cartoon which evoke my childhood memory watching Aladdin and love the colourfull clothing, beautiful palace, the music and the culture. Such old houses are pretty common in India, My Ancestral Home is in Agra. it soon will turn 200Years, my uncle still lives in it with his family and my grandparents, we visit agra on festivals for family gathering, its a large house so loads of rooms and old furniture. Old homes are just love
