- If you're a fan of shipping container homes, then this is a video tour you won't want to miss! In this weeks episode we meet Rosie, who has constructed an incredible off-the-grid home out of five 20ft shipping containers.
Rosie's home is situated in the middle of a spectacular conservation block and her beautiful modern shipping container home has been wonderfully designed to take full advantage of the beautiful surrounding landscape.
Best of all, this home is completely off the grid, with solar power, rainwater collection and even a vermi-composting toilet, meaning she will never need to see another power or water bill again.
We hope you enjoy the full tour of this brilliant shipping container home.

Fabulous.
What country does this lady live ?
Rosie is my daughter and we are all absolutely thrilled with her container home.
The five containers were transported by truck ( 5 trucks) and craned onto the site.
Rosie always had a vision and watching it all come to fruition has been a real thrill for her whole family.
She deserves it all and we wish her many happy years enjoying her sanctuary.
Yes she is a Dr Who and Sci Fi nerd!
This is such a wholesome and adorable comment to go with this wholesome and adorable video, love it!
Her vision, artistry and creativity are off the charts! How blessed she is that she can align her values for conservatorship in such a stunning location. I'm sure you're very proud. Congrats Rosie!!💜💔
We are all glad she was able to share it with us!
You must be so proud! She's done well, and that view would consume me for days!

I own a piece of land with a similar view, I wish I could build something like this. But the problem is that I live in a shitty country and the house would get vandalized if I leave it unattended for even a short period of time.

To be fair it's still in this world. But I get your pointใ :D
She definitely lives life like it is meant to be lived.

What the hell?! You sound hella bitter. I hope you deal with your issues. Find yourself a good therapist, they are worth the investment. When the stars align and you get to build a spectacular container home, live off the grid, and do it all in a nature reserve. Who gets to do that??? How fantastic.
....I'm not jealous at all lucky she is!
Abundance of Admiration
Almost no one gets to do that, its nice for her but tiny living is a very priviliged concept and it is only a very individualistic approach to the housing crisis we are facing.
@@Laura-gd4ku Haven't you seen some of the videos on here? Some people have made forever tiny homes for about £3000. I mean being able to save that wouldn't be easy for me, but i do recognise that that is one of the cheapest a poor person could ever OWN a home for. It's only privileged if you're looking at this fancy big diy home, that's not a 'tiny house' in this video and thinking that's what this movement is, it's not. The actual tiny houses are, you see more of those in the USA, UK, France, and the latter two tend to be cheaper ones too, especially in the UK.
@@pcoristi What a great reply. Our son is headed off to Montana State this fall and first year is in a dorm. But after that, we would love to help him find alternative housing. Real estate has skyrocketed and made it impossible for locals to buy and stay and made it extremely difficult for all the University Students to find affordable housing. Kudos to Bozeman, Montana, for the new 6 acre First Village, a community of tiny homes which will be used as permanent housing for those experiencing homelessness, but it's unique and an isolated occurrence. It's getting approval by the state to place them in backyards and build multiple tiny villages, that is the problem and is holding back solutions to supply affordable housing for so many.

The Library😍😍😍 The only thing missing from most tiny homes that made me a bit hesitant about wanting to live in one!
Build one with a big bookshelf

The fact that she as a married woman still kept space for herself to have her dream home exactly as she wanted it is amazing to see! Such a great example I will be showing my daughter
@ThePotatoMouse
@ThePotatoMouse exactly! Everyone deserves their own safe space. Married couples deserve this too! I assume the husband also has his own version of what is often called a "man cave" in whatever form best fits him. This breaths fresh life into the marriage. Its such a loving gesture

Japanese people watching this are like "Where is the tiny house?" and I agree. This has more square footage than most standard UK terraced houses.
The kitchen is certainly bigger than the one in my apartment. Like about 6 times bigger

Really I thaught it was quite small but I guess its just a Swedish thing, that's interesting
@@josef1049 you obviously don’t watch this channel regularly. Watch his other videos with “tiny” houses. Doesn’t matter where you are. This isn’t really tiny at all.
It’s actually only houses in Tokyo are small, not entire Japan. Most families don’t live in Tokyo but commutable suburbs. Average homes in suburbs have 2-3 bathrooms, 4-5 bedrooms, a guest room plus common rooms like living and dining room etc., and two car garages. You need a car to get around these suburbs though.

I've been following this channel for a year and today I found out that in my country there is a company building container houses for an amazingly cheap prices, 40 sq meter house for 7k euros, now I'm saving money to buy one of my own.
Remember, shipping container homes are incredibly hard to insulate properly. Im not sure this house, in this humid climate, will survive more than 10 years
@@gibson1005 Properly sealed and painted, with regular maintenance, they should last several decades. Thermal insulation, in cooler climates, however, should indeed be a problem. Metal in general is an excellent thermal conductor - exactly the opposite of what you need in walls, in thermally more extreme climates.

I think this is the first tiny home I've seen that made me go 'that's exactly what I want!' With a few minor tweaks - I wouldn't need such a big kitchen. The tool chests for kitchen cabinets is nothing short of genius, though!
And those views. I swear that the only reason anyone really goes tiny is to find somewhere they can look out on really beautiful scenery every day.
@Chiamano She said 60 sqm of living space, that's about 645 sqft, not 2,500. Not really tiny, but still small, and what she's managed to do with that space is impressive.
@@_asphobelle6887 but it is not a tiny house. 95% of people call that a normal size house. It is huge for one person only.

You'd be surprised at what you can accomplish if you set your mind to it. 20 years ago I was sleeping on a cot in my mother's basement, bankrupt from a one sided divorce. (I'm a man) But, I never lost sight of my dreams. Today I live in my dream house backing on to a forest. No, I didn't do it all on my own. I did it with the help of a wonderful woman-- don't give up on people; don't give up on yourself.
Bhai Bhai
Is it not risky near the woods ??
It is my dream as well to have a container home. It doesn't have to be as fancy as hers
"How did you manage to do this?" "I have a lot of money!"
Right ? 450k? Hahaha I immediately lost interest when she said that.
Houses are expensive, where I live it cost over $1mil usd for a 2 bedroom apartment. This is ridiculously cheap in comparison, better and larger too. Though I would get Starlink for internet
@Yorak Hunt 80k for an acre of land in New Zealand. She has 23 so that's 1.8 Million NZD. Definitely not cheap here.
And in Sydney we would pay 800k for an apartment that size and you’d be lucky if you view wasn’t a brick wall 🤣
funny how all our dreams come with a price tag.. guess I'll dream of my next meal.
This is the most lovely off-grid house that I've ever seen. Especially love the kitchen area.
What an incredible and beautiful home with a spectacular view outside. This looks very cozy and private, I can imagine living in a house like this for years.
I couldn't imagine having a house like that and not being able to stay full time. I'd cry every time I had to leave.
FINALLY, a tiny home for booklovers!
I know! I have thousands of books and 95% of them read. The 5% are encyclopedias etc. on WWII, Game Farming, Art & DIY manuals, Animals, bugs, birds.. We downsized to a much smaller house. I want to get back to my farmland roots, but the cost of land plus a homestead is just too much. This idea can really work! When the world goes to hell in a basket and the internet disappears mankind will once again appreciate books. Bah, who wants/needs kindle? Folks, just remember to carry lots and lots of spares for everything and the less moving parts for things & tools etc. the better. The day might come when you can't hop down to the nearest shop. To me Tiny House and off grid means being really self-sufficient and prepped to go it alone for a minimum of 2 years. Here in South Africa life like this is becoming ever more of a future reality as our country has been bankrupted by the politicians, we are almost on our knees financially and infrastructure now almost non-existent.
Bryce, thank you for this. Of all the tiny houses this one is truly practical for me and such an inspiration.

The dark exterior will make it very hot which if fine for the winter . In fact , by covering part of the exterior with a frame with class or plexiglass you can run interior air through it as a solar thermal heating system with a low amp fan . It works, because I have one that puts out 180 degree heat in 10 degree winter days.
Got 450 000 $ and 50km²? There you go
That kitchen is sweet. Good Idea with the tool trolleys
Such a sweet and smart lady, im happy that she reads a lot of interesting books,. Reading book will feel much better with that forest energy. Not many reading anymore. Stay alive and happy miss.
That orange wall..."it glows at sunrise sunset", what attention to detail when designing a space. Well done.
Being off grid isn't an easy way to go for everyone, but she seems to have built in all the comforts of home. Love the 'normal' bathroom, and the tool trollies in the kitchen. I have been thinking of that for my "tiny (mobile) home." Love that they are considered caretakers of the piece of property they are on. So smart. Thanks, Bryce for yet another amazing video of a great home. Something we would never see if it weren't for you and Rasa. Keep up the good work.
"sissies" is toxic lingo, sexist
@@rustybeddingfield227 yet another reason why I no longer live in the US. You take everything to extremes and think you have a monopoly on self righteousness and EXTREME and meaningless political correctness. It’s an expression. Get over yourself. So you, in your whole 20-something years of living, won’t use it. Aren’t you just so much better than everyone else who came before you!
@@sarahrosen4985 Bruh calm down Rusty is saying that because even if the user of the phrase means nothing bad by it, where do you think the expression came from? Extremely sexist people in more generally sexist times. So even though it might seem like a tiny insignificant thing to you, it can impact someone's life to an insane extent hearing phrases and such that are rooted in sexism on a daily basis. So quit your blabbering and let Rusty make their comment. No one asked you why you no longer live in the US... sounds like you just want to rant to everyone. And they said 5 words while you called them taking it to the extreme, while you used wayyy more words-hypocritical. And why do you think they think they are better than everyone else that came before them? Probably your own insecurities, but honestly I couldn't guess. That last sentence and most of your comment is rude, presumptuous, hypocritical, and unnecessary. So stop getting butthurt that someone is trying to rid the world of phrases with sexist beginnings because they are just being a good person. Jeez I never comment but yours was so rude and illogical I had to respond and address specifically why.
@@sarahrosen4985 I understand non-targeted use of words, but your reply could have been "Ah, My bad mate" because it's similar to using the N word as a white person and then lashing out on someone who corrects your lack of consideration. It is however, of course, your choice to use whatever words you want.
@@WeiFinder Thing is, the comment wasn't even directed at her. Rusty was replying to small footprint but Sarah thought her opinion was needed.
What a warm welcoming atmosphere for one to relax, rest and be at peace. I'm exhaling with enjoyment. One day soon I'll be showing my 😊 place
