  • Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Sunday (Nov 5) called on all People’s Action Party members to give Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his team their “full support”.
He had earlier announced that he will hand over leadership to Mr Wong before the next General Election, which has to be called by November 2025.
“Help them win a strong mandate and work with them to take Singapore to greater heights,” he said during his speech at the party’s awards and convention.

Many before us and of us have gained much successes and prosperity from the peacefulness of this land under their guards. Thank you. Moving forwards for more good years under the new team. No other gov't or political party in the world has done so much & so well for its own people for decades, except the PAP.
For some Singapore locals that complain about minor issues, remember, complaining is for the weak, try to move to UK/EU/US & see how it goes for your life...
Gov't is not suppose to provide a better life, maintaining the basics ok is good enough. Each individual has to apply his own IQ EQ & Skills + hard work to get & keep a better life for himself.
Life is not suppose to be easy.
Singapore is very fortunate to have Mr. LKY, then his super genius son, Mr. Lee, to lead the city state.

A speech which truly reflects the core values of the party and an account of the struggle of the party for the raayat...
Malaysians have yet to have such a party that is so dedicated to the needs of the raayat....not just in words but by its deeds .
When that day comes ..the Malaysian can really extend their hands with pride to shake their neighbours hands in Singapore to say that we all shall progress and work for the future together
Singapore is so near . Yet .the hopes and aspirations raised by the leaders there ...seem to be so far and away for those in Malaysia to achieve ...the only real achievement is to have thousands going to Singapore to work to earn the Singapore dollars .
Malaysia boleh ...the leaders of Singapore were once from here in Malaysia and so Malaysians will have the will and determination to be as good or even better than Singapore in days to come .we shall progress with Singapore to build up a truly multiracial and multireligious society where equality and justice are values to cherish

Singapore is setting an extremely high bar for the rest of the world to follow. Singapore can be very proud to be the ONLY country on the planet to be able to transfer power in government so successfully, smoothly, peacefully and with such dignity!!!
Quite a contrast to what the world is seeing in the so called “ mother of Democracy “ in the terrorist rogue state Banana Republic of America (BRA) where corruption is the order of the day and is accepted as part of life. The personal integrity of Singapore candidates are impeccable again quite unlike some of those in the BRA like RFK Jr who actually takes pride in proclaiming that there’s such a thing as a public and a private integrity! He obviously does not understand that integrity is either you have it or you don’t. But then, the BRA have had a track record of having all sorts of Con artistes and showmen occupy the White House and other positions of power , don’t worry about whether they can do the job or not. The difference between Singapore and the US is that the people wanting to get into government in the US are motivated by the prospects of personal enrichment whereas the Singapore motivation is to ensure the continued success of the nation and the improvement of the people’s welfare and quality of life. Let’s hope this track record continues.
The rest of the world can certainly learn something from Singapore.
    Go Singapore Go🎉❤🎉

@@Joo-vw9kb You're not entirely wrong in your assessment
but I look at the points you raised from a slightly different perspective. The Capitalists who own/ rule the US government actually dictate policy as they (the Capitalists) install these politicians and other people in powerful positions through their legalised process of corruption called "lobying". I'm not sure and am quite confident to say that the 20% Capitalists in Singapore actually have that power or influence unless you have evidence to the contrary to support your allegation of how policies have been changed or influenced to benefit them.
On the issue of the widening gap between the haves and the have nots, its a tricky issue that faces EVERY country in the world, whether its " Democratic" or "Communist" or "Socialist" or whatever. It's simply because all men are NOT created equal as we would like and want to believe. The "smarter" and more " capable" people will always tend to earn more than those less capable. Just look at your own life and look at every member of your own family and be honest with yourself!
With regard to the huge disparity between the ministers' annual remuneration and the average incomes of the "ordinary" Singaporean, I can understand your disgust and concern. However, in my opinion, there's a logic to that perceived "madness." These ministers with 7 digit salary packages are holding great responsibilities and are accountable for some very big decisions that have tremendous impact and ramifications on the population and the nation. I won't begrudge them their salary packages and neither would I envy what they have to do to earn and enjoy those "perks" and incomes that they earn ..............provided they are accountable for their respective portfolios and deliver the results agreed upon and expected of them! They should be fired if they can't deliver and/or are found to be incompetent , just like if they had been a Senior Manager or CEO of a company. A results/performance based remuneration system is what lubricates a meritocracy besides an altruistic desire to "serve" the country. Much better than having to resort to other corrupt and illegal means to " reward" your efforts!
Would you want to volunteer to " serve the nation" if you're not amply rewarded for it? Its a pretty thankless job if you ask me!
Can and should the gap between the minister's salary packages and the ordinary Singaporean be narrowed? I don't think so and I don't know if there's a better way of "narrowing" that gap. If you have an answer to that, you could propose that to your government. I'm not a Singaporean FYI. I'm just an interested observer.
I don't understand what you were trying to say about the opposition parties so I cannot comment on it.
Does absolute power corrupt absolutely? Good question.
This is where personal integrity comes in. It is said that everybody's got a price. If the price is right , we could be tempted to succumb to it. The bottom line is, we each have to face the mirror everyday to check if we know who we truly are.
So, I'd suggest that each of us do that on a regular basis so that should and when we have the opportunity to wield power, whether absolute or otherwise, how do we respond!
Yes. I certainly wish and hope that Singapore will continue to uphold itself as the " shining city on the hill" quite unlike that fake one across the oceans that claim to be that..........

I think for the sake of singapore where almost all voters prefer PAP, eg. 86% voted against opposition candidate in the recent PE, i think we should create a Opposition under a Ministry ,maybe call it ministry of Perception Matters. Institutionalise a Opposition thats controlled by gov. I not saying China model but you get my point. Maybe we should Recruit PS to be the first to join. LO position is created by who? Regardless, thats still a risk to govt. So, we should take the bitter pill and abolish elections replaced by Appointed leaders for political office and call this new model of democracy the BaoJiak Durian Democracy and export to China so XJP can alsp last forever under such a democracy . Have strict laws. Control the people until they dare not suka suka any howly talk😅
We must not let political office happen by chance. Leave nothing to chance. Have opposition that only oppose in a tiny way, like acting as a vent for public frustrations. Like when hornt you masturbate and then you wont do silly things.😅 And such a opposition must always be perceived as lower class like a leader who when speak english sound like cartoon, best if broken singrish so that people look down on him like a clown

Retirees' hearts won would indeed save the nation amid transition woes. The Majullah, Mederka and Pioneer generations are the balancing people-forces with the younger, energetic and modern generations to come. We survive and thrive together as team players.

PM Lee’s conflation of marital infidelity to corruption is a clever sleight of hand. He equated all of the PAP’s scandals - the Ridout Road conflict of interest, Iswaran’s alleged graft and Tan’s marital infidelity - with the Workers’ Party’s one scandal - an episode of marital infidelity that ended years ago. If Lee was already aware of Tan’s affair in 2020, why did he wait until February 2023 to have a ‘hard conversation’ with him?

    • @STConsultancy
      @STConsultancy Před 9 měsíci +4

the Ridout Road conflict of interest: all oppo MPs agree there is no conflict of interest. are you disagreeing with your master?
Iswaran’s alleged graft: in Sylvia Lim's logic, isnt it premature to judge?
Tan’s marital infidelity: so there is one confirmed scandal with, well, 2 confirmed scandal in WP as both of them are married
so you are the one who is conflating issues into a lie

During the General Election of 2011, Singaporeans were more impressed with the WP’s manifesto which were detailed positions on policy than the one by Mr Lee’s People’s Action Party (PAP), of which Mr Lee is secretary general. The PAP’s manifesto was accused of being more of a glossy document of smiling faces and motherhood statements.
