    This is so lovely! I am ND too and I didn't buy a planner for a few years because I thought I could just do digital and then was *significantly* less productive and did not add fun things and just did the absolutely urgent items and got very depressed. Seems like that balance of tasks and joy realisation has been rolling out for a few of the late diagnosis crew recently. If you would be interested in talking about how you use your markers I would love to listen as yours always look amazing and I have less colours than you but the same brand and mine look kinda crappy in comparison and I would love to get better at alcohol markers as they're a less energy draining activity for my chronic illness but I am significantly better at basically any other medium/craft atm! Have a wonderful year of the goblin and keep working on being kinder to yourself. I work with ND folks and non ND folks to do exactly that and the ones who unblock those thought patterns are really blossoming. If I can ever be of any help with that feel free to let me know as your videos are a help to me and I would love to say thank you

    The task list is a struggle. It works for me only when I'm super busy (when I'm not, I easily remember the tasks or I procrastinate a lot and forget to actually make a to-do list and stick to it).
    My method is bulleting the done tasks.
    I used to include "Me time" in my daily to-do list with tasks like reading, writing three reasons to be grateful, and other mindfulness tasks (mind, body, and soul stuff) but watching your video I realize I never intentionally squeezed actual fun in, like play a game with the kids, or make a prank for them - things that I now will make me laugh.
    So, thank you for the huge "AHA"!

    Just bought the print out! So pumped to use it as someone who is always wanting to use planners and fails miserably bc of physical and mental illness I am confident this will be helpful for me bc pretty things that I don’t feel scared to ruin is much easier to use than a pristine notebook that was $30 💀😅

      I feel that! But hey, if you're struggling with both physical and mental illness, try not to be too hard on yourself. I say this as someone who's also struggling with physical and mental illness, and I often beat myself up for not being able to get everything done. Was literally just talking to my therapist about this... again. 😅 We really want to keep up with everyone else, for all sorts of very valid reasons, but there are going to be times when you just can't complete your to-do list and that's OKAY. You're doing your best and that's all that matters. Pushing yourself to and past your limit is just gonna make it worse later, so take care of yourself, okay? I really like that Arleesha's print has the "Fun" section - take advantage of that!
      (And I REALLY hope this comment doesn't come off as patronizing! I just super struggle with this issue and I hate seeing other people go through this as well. I myself have to FREQUENTLY be reminded to take a break so that I don't cause a flare, so I just wanna send those reminders out to anyone else who might need them! Be well!)

    Accommodation suggestion: Tracking symptoms/correlations/experiences/cycles for solving puzzles about your body.
    I printed out a year of 1 page per month, 1 line per day, pages and put them in a duotang. I can add more as I need.
    It allows me to have a bunch of info in the same place so I can notice patterns/correlations that I should consider. And I don't have to go back through old, part used planners to find out long term data on migraine frequency, when I tried eliminating a particular food, hormone cycles, changes to meds dosages, when my work schedule changed significantly, when I gave myself a particular injury, or noticed a symptom I have no idea what it might be related to yet - if it occurs to me to question if a correlation is possible.
    I also include symptoms/incidents related to my cat, so if it becomes a thing I need a timeline for, I can find it.
    Some months have almost nothing, others have margin notes and arrows all over the place. With ideas about patterns or things that might reduce bad or increase the number of better days.
    Being able to find possible patterns, and test them out... makes a big difference in terms of me feeling like my well being is utterly random and hopeless.
    But other formats didn't allow my brain to connect the pieces. Find something that allows you to connect the pieces. And if you forget to write stuff in, oh well, if you have to look it up later, you can add it to the list when you do.

    Arleesha, mentioning Dog of Wisdom
    Me, trying ti hold back: if you haven't seen those music edits with those dogs, you need to give it a listen. It's been a running gag between my bf and me for weeks and some of the edits are really great.
    Also, Happy New Year :3

    Buying things you don't need isn't ADHD, it's just greed. That's why a lot of people do it.

    • @safaiaryu12
      @safaiaryu12 Před 5 měsíci +9

      Uh... okay. I'm *sure* greed is a big factor in buying *planners*. Good job telling someone with neurodivergence that you know better than them about their personal experiences. 👍

    • @Elena-Studio
      @Elena-Studio Před 5 měsíci +9

      It's connected to impulsive behavior within ADHD symptoms. If someone connects it to what they think is their ADHD (or whatever else), why does it matter to you? They're just trying to understand themselves better.

    • @xeareax
      @xeareax Před 5 měsíci +6

      You clearly missed the point in Arlee's specific example. Trying to function in a world not built for you isn't greedy.

  • @safaiaryu12

    This is honestly so inspiring. 😭 I also struggle hardcore with being kind to myself. I've spent many hours in therapy over that! Hearing you say you're working on that, too... it feels validating, for one thing, and I hope there are other people who watch this who realize, "Wait, I'm not being kind to myself, either!" And maybe more gentleness and positivity will grow out of this video. 🥲
    I also really like the "Fun" section. I think it's not terribly uncommon for people to get overwhelmed by their to-do lists... and for others to get so bogged down with tasks that they forget to do anything for themselves. Putting that front-and-center with a "Fun" section would hopefully mitigate that!
    Oh, I also want to note that using an undated planner or to-do list or whatever is so FREEING. You don't feel guilty if you have to skip a day/week for whatever reason!
    Thank you for this, Arleesha, and Happy New Year! ❤
