What made him cool in the OT (or at least in Empire) was how much respect Vader gave him. He pointed at Boba and told him “no disintegrations”, implying Boba either disobeyed Vader before and lived, or Vader is aware of his reputation and taking a chance anyway because he’s so skilled. He also outsmarted Han/The Empire by figuring out how the Falcon suddenly disappeared and getting to Bespin before them. Also unlike Lando, Vader wasn’t willing to alter any deals he made with Boba (even willing to compensate if Han died) showing he respects Fett and doesn’t want to ruin any business relations with him. And Legends gave us plenty of awesome Boba.

He did a good job in Clone Wars too though. The reason why he failed so many times was because he was young and naive. And after years of experience and trial-error he became the perfect bounty hunter.
We even saw him grow. And each time he failed, we saw him get angrier and angrier. We saw the growth of a young and naive boy who just wanted revenge from one person (master Windu), to a ruthless bounty hunter.

It would've been interesting if the show focused on how Boba wanted to create a legacy. Have him reflect on how pathetically he "died" during the Sarlacc Pit incident and how no one cared about him enough to mourn or search for him. His time with the Tuskens will open his eyes to what his skills could be used for a community and not just a job, and reflect how Jango wanted him to carry on the Fett name. That would be his main motivation for becoming a crimelord to secure a legacy worth remembering that will eventually evolve into a leader concerned with protecting others and motivate people like Fennic to do the same. It would also reflect his contrasting relationship with Cad Bane, as while Boba has changed over the years, Cad remains the same. While he may be the best bounty hunter when he dies there will be no one to mourn, avenge, or remember him. They should also have not had two whole episodes focusing on Mando and saved a majority of it for season 3. As well as bring back Bossk, Hondo, and other famous Underworld characters to get some closure on them and how they shaped Boba's character.

He’s stuck on the same planet as Boba, James. And there’s even less stuff for him to do, since his existence is illegal and they can’t mess with the canon of the original trilogy.
I’m hoping for the best, but honestly I’m expecting three episodes of old man sitting in cave having flashbacks. And then kid Luke shows up in the fourth to keep us watching. Then some pirate gang is going to try and take the moisture farm, and obi wan is going to save them. They’ll almost beat him, then Luke will instinctively use the force without realizing it and save the day.

The book is amazing, having a mature story that explores his guilt and isolation, while trying to protect the people of a local town without letting them know he is a jedi and keeping his distance.
This base is already good for a mature show, it can get even better if you use bounty hunters as enemies or adopt a western/samurai film approach, with the town going to be attacked by raiders and Kenobi training them and preparing them in a story similar to Seven Samurai.
Hell, they could use Ventress. Perhaps Ventress is running off from hunters or the Empire and hides herself in Tattoine and comes to Kenobi looking for help!
Sure, Disney would never do stuff like this, but one can dream.

The twin Hutts taking their leave was what really confused me. They were clearly set up to be the bad guys early on, but they just peaced out and never came back once the Pykes showed up.
That kind of subversion, if done right, can effectively make the second antagonist seem even more threatening, but here it just felt hamfisted. The Pykes came outta nowhere, and without explanation as to why they stopped being neutral with Fett anymore after the fight with the Tuskens (not initially anyway).

Yeah, it feels like something deeper is supposed to be going on in the Star Wards underworld: like, this was a play by the Hutts to use Boba against the Pykes, and the reason Tatooine is important now is because it's about to turn into an Outer Rim Cartel battleground. But, because the season is so short, and spends so much of its time on so many things, everything is just a mess.

Right? It made absolutely no sense. They set them up to be the villains of the show which was actually really interesting.
They would have been a great antagonist to Boba's rule. The Hutts ruled before Boba so there would be people arguing and fighting in favor for the Twins to have the throne. But then you'd have people supporting Boba who took the throne violently. If we had had a territory and claim war over who gets to rule the town, that would be the coolest shit ever.
If you ask me, we should have had Boba and the Hutts throughout the entire first season. They were a much better concept for a villain than the Pikes given the history leading up to this.

People think of Boba Fett as being cool because he was in the comics (which are now, mostly, no longer canon, because Disney basically sectioned off all of the old material aside from the movies and clone wars as not canon), which is why people are upset that he isn't a badass anymore. Also, I personally like his background as being a personally requested clone of another great bounty hunter, I dunno, I just think he's neat.

And like one of the other comments said, Legends gave us plenty of awesome Boba.

Yall need to stop berating people who never took an interest in the clone wars. It is literally a kids show. That show has some of the most plot armor I’ve ever seen in a piece of media. And obviously they have to have plot armor, but the action scenes should’ve been written and animated in such a way that that plot armor is not being directly shown to the audience, because watching Ahsoka cut through 50 different B2 droids without even the slightest injury doesn’t make me think she’s badass, it makes me question the IQ level of the writers.

  • @valoxsen6003
    @valoxsen6003 Před 2 lety +22

Just finished watching Season 1. I have several comments. Spoilers ahead.
    1. Did Favreau and Filoni even want to write this show? The events and tone were all over the place, to the point where the title character wasn't even in two of the episodes.
    2. Since flashbacks were a big plot device this season, it would have been cool if they went further back to Boba Fett's history with Cad Bane, with Daniel Logan playing Boba Fett in that time period (Logan played teen Boba Fett in Episode II and Clone Wars, and he has a passing resemblance to Temuera Morrison).
    3. Cad Bane should have been introduced earlier and given some background context as to why his presence is so significant to Boba Fett (for people who haven't seen the animated series).
    4. Boba's re-characterization from cold hard-ass to softened honor-seeker could have been expanded more. While his time with the Tusken tribe was good for showing his development, his arc should have started differently after he escaped the sarlacc. Reflecting on his life during The Clone Wars, his past under Cad Bane's tutelage, etc. All while wandering Tatooine aimlessly searching for his armor, and _then_ getting captured by the Tusken tribe.
    5. The rainbow mod gang was extremely out of place in Tatooine. It would have been better if they'd been one-episode side characters that Boba recruited for meager tasks. Instead, they were given way too much screen time to perform cringey actions and dialogue. Also, they would have been more believable if they actually looked sun-worn and weathered, and like they lived on a desert planet instead of Cyberpunk 2077.
    6. Boba himself was a watered-down pushover who seemed so out of character even compared to his appearance in The Mandalorian. Here, he kept getting his ass handed to him and could barely hold his own every time he fought an enemy. After his Tusken tribe had been killed, he should have slightly reverted to his ruthless persona. As a crime boss, he should have demanded respect instead of suggesting it, taking out the Hutts after they came for him first, and then telling the other leaders to fall in line or they would be next. And if the writers wanted him to dial it back again, just have Fennec serve as a voice of reason so he stayed balanced.
    7. Why did this show turn into The Mandalorian Season 2.5 halfway through? Reuniting Mando and Grogu so soon and not even on their own show just diluted The Mandalorian Season 2 ending and already gives Season 3 a weak start. If Boba needed Mando for the big conflict, that sequence of events should have occurred right after Mando was kicked out of the Watch. The business on Tattooine would have given him a sense of purpose again, and that includes building his new ship. And then the after credits scene at the end of the season could have been Mando showing up with the chain mail armor to Luke's construction site and seeing Grogu training in the distance.

In episode 5, when Mando is on the halo ring and you see massive crowds rushing to the cruisers on a "nonstop flight to Tatooine", it cemented that no one on the creative team understood why Tatooine was Tatooine. I mean, among the 9 mainline films, The Last Jedi was one of the films the had the most original ideas, aside from obviously the original Star Wars film. Were all those ideas executed well? Some of them were, the rest weren't but it's still a better movie than The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Rise of Skywalker. It's partially why I'm kinda excited for his upcoming trilogy. This show is not that bad but it could've been much better

I kinda feel like the reunion between Grogu and Mando should've been reserved for the finale of the third season. Having them reunite almost immediately after the season 2 ended (and in a spinoff, not even their own show) takes away from the impact of Mando letting him go. We should've had a timeskip of at least a few years, with Mando's story mainly focusing around his struggles with the darksaber.
Also I get that they had to portray Luke more like they portrayed him in the sequels, but him making a person choose betwen family and the force despite having experienced first hand what that can do to a man just feels incredibly out of character to me. Then again, so did his entire arc in the sequels so while it isn't a surprise per se, its still incredibly disappointing.

Its a huge shame because in Legends, Boba's story after the Sarlaac is really cool. He becomes the Mand'alore, leading the Mandalorians through one galactic problem after another.
That would have been way cooler. Boba Fett learning about his dad's legacy and seeking to emulate it. The problem with trying to be a crime boss and a noble honorable person is that those two things are often mutually exclusive. You can't be the good guy if you're literally a gangster. Like Boba, the crime boss, basically decides throughout the show that he will not smuggle spice, shake down locals for protection money, or engage in any other criminal enterprises.
Okay... so then what kind of enterprises will you engage in? Importing and exporting vegetables? The reason other fictional crime lords like Gus Fring and Vito Corleone are so great to watch isn't because they're nice, noble people. Its because the nice, noble persona is the surface of an otherwise ruthless, selfish, amoral individual. Gus is professional and respectful, but he floods his community with crystal meth and slits people's throats with box cutters for... reasons.
If they wanted Boba to step into the role of a noble, honorable, respectable leader, they should have had him go to Mandalore and endeavour to lead the Mandalorians. Not take over Jabba's criminal empire and remove all the crime!

Exactly it pissed me off. The whole of season 3 could've been about Din proving himself to be a worthy wielder of the darksaber and finding his own groove back after losing grogu, while simultaneously seeing grogu slowly mature and having to deal with the reality of being forced to choose between the jedi and Din.
Just imagine how powerful it would've been seeing grogu choose to come back to din in the final few episodes of the season. Both characters who have grown throughout season 3 to establish an identity separate of each other, then coming back together stronger than ever.
Instead it's all wasted in this show. Sure, since I am a star wars fan I like the clone wars cameos and the fanservice, and I like the Din episodes in TBoBF, but casual fans will be very puzzled seeing grogu back with din from the start of season 3. Boba's personality was very weird, and his reasons and views seemed to conflict a lot. The Boba Fett we saw in the Mandalorian was ruthless, cunning and mercilessly precise, but he also showed when he shot down the retreating ships with his rockets he mentioned he was only aiming for the other one, which shows his down-to-earth honesty. It made for a very compelling character on screen; a merciless, old bounty hunter who's lived life long enough to not care about glory, and is self-aware that no matter how good he is, he's still only human and respects those who respect him equally. That same human, who was raised by bounty hunters literally all his life. And they tried to to do that, but Jesus H fuck he's all over the place; one moment he's killing a mutated sand centaur bare handed, the next he's teaching Tuskens how to ride a hoverbike lIkE a bAnThA. I don't mind if he has some gruff and witty jokes every now and then but Boba Fett's character didn't fit the goofy dad character with the tone and presence that Boba usually sets.
I ain't no writing genius, and I'm certainly no director but if I were to redo this series here's what I'd do personally:
    - Boba Fett's backstory and constant flashbacks are fine, it at least tell us how he got there and how he has strong relations to the Tuskens. This might not sit well with people but I'm fine with it. It would prove that he could establish good relations with a people that have been out of touch with the world all because people keep stepping into their lands. Well now that can be resolved, and it could spread Boba's empire indefinitely across Tattooine, being the MAKER of a great commercial hub out of a backwater planet that we're all sick and tired of seeing, but that could at least make it different.
    - Introduce Boba's character as he was in the Mandolorian, but his wish to gain respect through honesty and to not become someone's tool is somewhat difficult to avoid, seeing as that's how he was raised. Then introduce those who mentored him (Bossk, Aurra Sing, Bane, etc.) during other flashbacks each episode either before, during or after a conflict. They each have a different way to approach things, and Boba could have inner conflict with what they have taught him over the course of his life as he struggles to find those answers and chooses what he should move forward with.
    - The Hutts arrive, showing and telling that mere respect and honesty is nothing compared to straight-up fear on a backwater planet that's known nothing but wild-west shootouts and lawless crime lords ruling over their heads for who knows how many fucking years now.
    - Hiring a legit bounty hunter after your head will come with casualties; some of the cyberpunk kids should've died to make Boba realize that hiring homeless teenagers as back-up is not a good plan when you LITERALLY SAID YOU HAVE MONEY IN RESERVE JUST HIRE BOUNTY HUNTERS AND MAKE A HOUSE OF MERCENARIES FOR FUCK SA-
    - That brings me to this point: he should've made a mercenary guild, or a house of bounty hunters. I don't really care if it was too obvious; It would provide stable income to both his palace and the community, and would also provide protection and even present jobs. Especially if that same guild is run by one of the most famous bounty hunters to have ever lived. And it would also make Boba realize that the life he lived is something you can't escape from; you know too much, you've met too many and those connections will always lead you back to that life no matter how much you want to forget it.
    - The Pikes and Hutt conflicts would've been a better addition if the Tuskens were to still be alive, or if he had made connections with another tribe during his slow but sure enough rise. Then the Hutts would trade out Chrys for that rancor, but its not a fucking puppy. It was a rigged trap, and the Rancor attacks Fett. now either he kills it and remains in the palace against the Hutts (who now continually plot against his fall), or he is chased out and must reclaim the palace by hiring Bounty Hunters and Tuskens, going through that "can't escape the past" realization again. And the negotiations with the Pikes through the spice trade is going poorly; bombings in the town happen frequently and prevention is thin.
    - Fett still won't listen to reason, and then Cad Bane shows up who's hired by either the Hutts or the Pikes. Honestly, they introduced him perfectly with Cobb Vanth as a setup for Bane's skill. But now that we've seen him in like one flashback fucking shit up, even the audience who didn't know Cad Bane knows that Boba is right fucked. At this point, Bane's views in his flashbacks were always the condescending type; it was made obvious that Bane and Boba see things differently.
    - THIS is where Mando can come in. In unison, with Boba and working out a plan of action with Fennec Shand and company.
    - Bane and Boba's duel will still be the same; a glorious gun fight for the other enemies, but these two have history with drawing. I'd say keep it the same honestly. It shows that Cad Bane still sees Boba as a naive brat who won't stay put and will never be better than him, but Boba Fett has always had the conviction and cunning to outsmart Bane, he just needed to think more for himself rather than take the advice of a "cold-blooded killer".
If you actually read all this, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

My biggest problem with the show was the wasted potential. I was excited for a political Star Wars stories, focused on gangs and the criminal underground. All with a character a lot more brutal than we're usually allowed to cheer for. But Disney was too afraid to give up an episodic adventure of the week format. They weren't going to let Boba Fett be the character we were promised. And they were never going to focus on slower stories with political intrigue. Instead, we got a crippled, half hearted Mandalorian with no direction.
Edit: Also imagine how cool it would've been if the show was self aware about being set in Tatooine. Imagine if it was acknowledged that Boba was fighting over the ruined remains of a desert planet and needed to move on. That would've been a perfect goodbye to the planet while promising more for the future of the franchise.

For the first 4 episodes the ratio of modern to flashback sequences felt off, but I appreciated the slow buildup to some big event that the modern scenes were setting the stage for.
    Then episodes 5-7 happened.
As mentioned in this video 5 and 6 were amazing episodes, but they were completely about Mando and barely featured Boba at all, making you question why they'd be in the show in the first place.
And then there was the finale. Dear god. I don't think I've ever seen a more awkwardly paced, throw anything at the wall that'll stick series of sequences in my life. The only bits I remotely enjoyed were the new droidakas and rancor, but even those had their flaws. Such slow and low stakes sequences made those slow buildup scenes from 1-4 feel more like repetitive time fillers.
Amazing how Mando in his show is way more in line with the badass people where expecting from Boba Fett back in the 1980's than anything Boba did in his own program.

I enjoyed it just watching it, but the analysis you give is pretty on point now that I think about it.
The moped hover bike chase was something that I noticed right away as feeling way too slow, though. And some of the action scenes, like the upgraded droidekas, felt slow, like characters could only do things one at a time. Mando got inside the force field and on top of the droid…and then just stood there? Like he didn’t do anything while it was shooting the rancor!?
Personally, I didn’t mind the Tusken raider backstory, it fills in some time while also explaining how he got the spiked stick he used in Mando S2, and why his armor went missing. The story building of it was interesting for me.
But a lot of the scenes of Boba trying to run the city again did fall flat, like he’s trying to revolutionize how the system works without planning anything.
Still, watching the show was fun. Just taking it at face value, enjoying if possible, I did enjoy it. The N1 scenes were cool for me, especially

I honestly think that these new Star Wars shows should just all be one anthology/continuous series similar to what Clone Wars was. Book of Boba Fett is a perfect example of how that could work as the first four episodes were only about Boba and his supporting cast, similar to how Clone Wars would have 2-4 episodes focused on a particular group of characters for an arc. By making all of these shows a singular series, it would really help improve the reception of some of these crossovers because instead of thinking that Mando took over Boba Fett's shows, we'd just be thinking that was a great Mandolorian episode. Then for shows such as Bad Batch and hopefully Obi-Wan, where they won't have a bunch of crossovers within these shows, those are the stories that they make into their own shows.
Granted, this wouldn't help with the directing, writing, and various issues that these shows have, but it would definitely help in a lot of places.

Like you I have a lot of criticisms for this show, but I think it all boils down to the fact that the show and the characters had so much potential, but the creators just didn’t put in the work to make it a good story. Boba Fett, Fennec, Bane, all the characters and elements could have been really good if there had been real effort. But the show wasn’t created because someone had a good idea for a Boba Fett story, it was created because Disney wants to make as much money off Star Wars as it can. Clone Wars has good and bad parts, but at least it wasn’t a cash grab, they actually had the incentive to focus on the narrative and that’s why it’s better.

That is one of the things that I liked about Fallen Order. While it did reuse 4 planets, it did expand on them. Like how there was a Zeffo temple of Dathomir. Showing that there is more to this world than the Nightsisters / Nightbrothers from The Clone Wars and Rebels. Or "foreshadowing" Starkiller Base with the trench on Ilum. Bracca is just used as the opening set piece and it is one hell of a ride as you escape the Empire in the second half. While also playing on those heart strings as you see symbols of the republic be reduced to scrap for the Empire. Climbing up the Origin Tree on Kashyyyk was fun as well. Seeing and exploring more of that world is a great thing since we didn't see much of it in Revenge of the Sith. As it was just where Yoda was during the beginning of order 66.
Ilum though is my favourite out of the 4 returning planets. The beginning creates a sense of calm. Obviously for gameplay reasons at this point there are no enemies but it create a false sense of security that this world in the unknown reaches and a world so important to the Jedi may have evaded the Empire for now. That is until you leave the caves and run right into the heart of the trench that the Empire has made. In order to harvest the Kyber crystals within. Which would later be turned into Starkiller base by the First Order.
I feel that the problem with Tattooine is not that it is a returning planet, just it has nothing really going for it in world of expanding its world building. It is just a desert planet with nothing going for it. Reusing familiar locations doesn't help either.

Something I've been thinking about a lot, and really wish had been utilized in the series as it would help excuse some creative decisions regarding Boba's character:
When Boba fell into the pit, it was a completely different world than the one he emerged in. The Empire has fallen, two of his most prominent employers being Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt are dead. The New Republic has risen. It's a new order of things, and Boba Fett is completely in the dark of it all. Show us Boba Fett being out of place, maybe see that this new world has new requirements he needs to adopt if he wants to thrive in it thus explaining his change of character, but we need to see him go through said change. Maybe this new world has no place for the ruthlessness of old world bounty hunters and that's why he has to undergo a change and learn to be more diplomatic. Show him struggle with it. Show him getting in trouble for having aided the Empire in the past. Show us him trying to cope with the fact the Era he knew and adapted for had passed.
And have that be Season 2. Have Season 1 be nothing but self contained stories of Boba Fett's hunts, not necessarily a big over arching plot. Show us who he is before you show us who he tries to be. Then have season 1 end with him falling in the pit.

You can tell they made a load of flashback scenes screwing around in the desert that take up a massive chunk of the first four episodes to cover up their inability to tell an engaging story set in the present time. Remove all the flashbacks and Mandalorian Season 3 episodes 1 and 2 and you have about 2 episodes worth of actual story focusing on what Boba Fett is currently doing. And while episodes 5 and 6 were really good I just wasn't able to enjoy them as much as I could if they were in The Mandalorian because of the fact *they are two whole episodes focusing on Din Djarin and Co in a show called The Book Of Boba Fett!* When I was watching episode 5 for the first time I initially thought the episode would spend about 15 to 20 minutes reintroducing The Mandalorian before focusing back on Boba Fett and showing the two teaming up in the episode. But no, Boba Fett practically doesn't appear at all in these episodes and it constantly left me groaning at the screen thinking "Okay that's enough can we go back to what Boba Fett is doing now!? I want to see some interesting content about *HIM.* Save this awesome stuff about Din Djarin for The Mandalorian Season 3 where it belongs." Seriously, if these two episodes just aired on their own in something like a Dinsey+ exclusive release, I would have literally no idea that they were made for the Book of Boba Fett. I couldn't help thinking they shifted their focus to The Mandalorian out of fear that people would give up on the show. I really love this show sure it had some bad parts but we saw him go through an actual character arc. He was a killer then he found a family (the Tuskens) when this family was taken from him he changes his motive. He just wants a family. Throughout the saga people keep telling him he’s just like his father Cad Bane even says this
“You’ve got your fathers blood pumping through your veins.” This show wasn’t about him becoming a leader, it was about him finding a family and proving to people that he can change his fate and be better than Jango. And when he’s in trouble he ignites the killer within not to cause harm but to protect his people. When he’s attacked by assassins he spares them symbolizing that people can change. He doesn’t want to be like other rulers this is shown by his dialogue with fennec. Where she says to him that he should be carried around to show his power and he declines. He faces real struggles with the mayor when he returns the assassin when this approach doesn’t work he becomes the killer we knew him to be. To protect and serve his people. Cad Bane isn’t just a villain but a reflection of his past. And with that he ultimately defeats his past. The show takes his death not as one but as a rebirth and a chance to change.

it comes down the fact that new shows(bad batch, book of boba) take a deleted TCW story arc as canon that already happened, which never got released aside from wip shots.
In which Boba and Bane met up at prison and became friends, planned an escape together and Bane became Boba's teacher, but some time later during a job at tatooine he'd reveal that he did so mostly because he didn't like how while he got mentored by Jango himself, he doesn't have a chance to prove that he's the best bounty hunter(jango being killed by jedi stopped him and clone army itself is a proof of his skills).
So he decides to take boba and lift him up to his father's level just so he could then kill him to prove that Bane is the best bounty hunter, not Fetts.
The duel ended with them both shooting each other in the head, but boba survived because he had his helmet on(it's where the bump on his helmet comes from) while Bane just got domed because he only has a hat.
Except, of course he was much later retconned to still be alive in bad batch and managed to somehow survive the duel and now has a metal plate in his head.
With that plotline in mind it makes a lot of sense why he'd go after boba now and why he'd be Boba's final challenge in overcoming his bounty hunter past.

Yeah just using old characters instead of making new compelling ones is pretty lazy but I'd be lying if I said it didn't excite me just a bit. With how more frequent it is there's a possibility that Cal from fallen order might show up, and the world needs more of him. Probably the best Jedi character aside from Ahsoka.

This is more of a personal issue than any objective flaw, but what frustrates me about Episode 6 (which is still pretty good relative to the first four episodes) is the idea of Luke's new Jedi Order reviving the tradition of prohibiting emotional attachments -- y'know, the primary reason for Anakin destroying the old Order in the first place? It would've made more sense for Luke to reject that part of the Jedi Code in trying not to repeat the mistakes of the old generation, especially considering how it was basically by embracing the father-son attachment against the advice of Obi-Wan and Yoda that allowed Luke to redeem Vader; in fact, that's pretty much what Luke did in the old Expanded Universe, even going as far as to hold marriage ceremonies for his Jedi students. I get that the show wanted to give Grogu that dilemma of choosing between his training and Mando (which IMO was emotionally compelling in the moment but kinda cliched looking back), but there are better ways of pushing Grogu's development that doesn't involve hindering Luke's (while one could argue that it foreshadows Luke's later mistake with Ben in TLJ, but that was the tragic irony of Luke trying to prevent history from repeating itself, not consciously contributing to that cycle).
Also as much as I love Cad Bane, I have to disagree with your point about him being a perfect fit for this show; if anything, he would've been better off dying in that cancelled Clone Wars episode since it would've marked Boba's ascension from whiny teenager to "best bounty hunter in the galaxy". This was just the Maul-Solo cameo all over again; his initial appearance and shootout didn't excite me after seeing Bad Batch, and like you said he was shoehorned in at the last minute.

    • @Killswitchrox
      @Killswitchrox Před 2 lety +60

I didn’t take it as Luke trying to prohibit emotional attachment as much as presenting Grogu with a choice. Because he wasn’t in the training mentally. It’s never indicated that he wants to train as a Jedi to begin with so the question is more like “which do you want to do for real?” He was asking Grogu to be introspective and self actualize

    • @Spongebrain97

What I get from Luke retreading the old jedi rules of not having personal attachment is that he wants to honor Yoda's teachings so much that he just carries everything over. He thinks his approach wouldn't fail because he buys into the myth of Luke Skywalker that clouds his judgement and handling of things. Maybe he thinks that by giving his students the choice of choosing to be jedi or not would root out those who would otherwise be emotionally compromised like Anakin was. So when they do choose to be jedi, surely they wouldn't fall to the darkside because they know what they would be giving up.
And when his jedi order fails again is when he develops his Last Jedi persona where he questions whether the jedi should even exist at all

Also my issue with Boba Fett is that he wants to be the new crime lord of the city, but doesn't want to commit crimes??? When Fennec suggests they can control the spice trade with the Pykes gone, Boba rejects that plan. OK BOBA, SO THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS? Boba doesn't even want to intrude on not having appointments??? Boba should have been the new mayor instead of a crime lord.

  • @777bobafett

It could've been a good show if they left Boba Fett being morally ambiguous but y'know... Disney. Since Mando was moving away from his bounty hunting roots, it would have been nice to have a show solely from a bounty hunters perspective, with episodes being centered around the actual bounty hunting process, he could have various bounty hunter antagonists throughout the show and maybe have Bane be a recurring villain. You could even flesh out some of the more positive relationships he has with some bounty hunters like Bossk and Dengar. Also, as much as I agree the Tusken flashbacks were actually one of the better parts of this show, I would cut it out in favor of maybe having him fight one of them for the robes after he escapes the Sarlacc so that he can retain his ruthless nature. I'm sure you can come up with plenty of interesting material with a premise like that, unfortunately that's not what we got. Once they had Boba kill Bib, they wrote themselves into a corner, now Boba HAS to rule Tatooine and give up on bounty hunting unfortunately.

I thought the show was okay. I liked that they gave the tusken raiders their own culture, and it was interesting to see something else other than screaming and shooting. But i do agree Boba was super boring. I would’ve loved a story where boba struggles to rule because Boba is too nice and people take advantage of that, and that he has to bring in his violent self to regain order. On top of that, i really agree cad bane should’ve been introduced earlier and be a massive threat to Boba.

    • @Laura-xh5cj

eh. the mandalorian already explored the tusken raiders as not just being “savages.” and that’s not even mentioning how many other times this exact same “i’m a hardened warrior who also has feelings” idea has been used. it was done well with mando and grogu, and the tusken raider feature made sense because it was a piece of a coherent theme. but bobf is an entirely different show, and one with worse direction. the same messaging has become boring and tired. especially egregious was the domesticated rancor.
