What do you think of the beam saw? what a beast!

Good luck!
Incredible!!! I can only imagine getting my hands on one, one day... maybe someone will hire one out?! Haha Hirepool...
Milwaukee mounts would be a dream 😉
@Northmen_construction
@default_nz , the DeWalt mounts would be great for an upcoming van fitout. I promise I’ll only whack my chisel with a mallet.
Thanks ,my tools are Makita and i would use a mallet .
#buildingdreams
Wheres my trusty brand OZITO?
@lanes_transformation - always a Mallet!! DeWalt please bro, will look great in the workshop! :)
Meanwhile, the drummer guy in his container is shooting his video saying "if you hear something that sounds like a jumbo jet, it's just this carpenter dude with his mammoth saw" 😂
Ahahahaahah
hahahhahahahha
Lame
@Schwalbe262
Umm, I'd say don't get on his bad side. 🤣
😂
Whenever a New Zealand politician gets "gifted" a donation, they should mark their next speech as an "advertisement"
Shouldent all politicians be marked then ?:)
@@robertjonsson5518 They should have to wear NASCAR style suits.
We could use that in America as well
I am not even from NZ and I approve of this message. The same thing should apply everywhere including the US.
Here in America, the joke is we should require the politicians wear sponsor logos on their suites just like the NASCAR drivers do.
Meanwhile in Australia, Paul Hogan is walking up to someone on a job site with that Mafell beam saw and saying, "That's not a saw..."
Touché! haahahahaha..
Needs garlic!
This comment is so underrated 🤣
Mafell? I heard Mo-Fo saw..
Had to be said :-)
Gaston is like the Snap-on truck for carpenters.
And I was just thinking the other day "I hope Gaston is ok, haven't seen him in a while"
Gaston is such a character, what a personality. He's really all you want in a salesman, just a genuine dude. Comedic timing is impeccable and subtle, too.
Would definantely welcome him to my site anytime haha 🤝
Im from Australia, but I'm an electrician and the best and only chisel is a flat head screw driver being bashed with a set of pliers 🤣
my people
A pair of Klein side cutters and a big azzz screwdriver will damn near fix anything
Without seeing you said you were an electrician, I was going to say "typical sparky talk" 🤣
Lmao yep. The big flat head is our chisel. We call it our “beater”
Hey sparky, I like your style!!!!🤪🤪🤪
But we learned to use the screwdriver to cut holes in trunk line for heating and cooling!!!
Gaston's visits are always a highlight, great video
Gaston videos remind me of a the hardware-store story that ends “I didn’t need any, but he was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, I wish I did.” Thanks for the video!
Loved Gaston's, "If you wanna have all the shavings in your face, you can do that." Lmao!
Gaston's tagline; 'When it comes to hand tools, if I don't have it, you don't need it.'
Your friend Gaston gives the impression that he has his tools business purely as a way of maintaining his hobby for tools and new tool tech. Which is excellent.
Shout out to that drummer that’s thoughtful as. Hires a storage room just to go practise drums. What a legend mate
I agree
I've got a 16" Makita that I've had for over 20 years. I only use it 3 or 4 times a year but it is handy when needed.
Love it when Gaston is on.
The casting director for this channel has done a top job since episode #1. Kameron, Gaston, etc etc.
The lot of them! Scott, Paerau, Kameron, Gaston, Richard , All legends in my books!
Don't forget the occasionals too - Sayeed, Gillies, the two plumbers whose names I can't remember...
The Name Mafell means „Maschinenfabrik Fellbach“ in south Germany. All tools of them are great!
I work everyday withe Mafell tolls, they are the beste for timber framing
I'm in a Realatioship with Erika😍
except for the drills, we had two new ones on a construction site and they both broke within three weeks
@@MrMEINNAMEISTMENSCH the drills are made by metabo
Mafell is etter than festool on making saws.
In german carpentry this is the top brand.
Greetings from Germany.
To get mafell in Australia is a pain and a half. Thou I would love the ability to purchase mafell.
@@daispatrick no idea what you saying but thank you bro
Mafell tools are great, but the price... You need a good stable carpentry business to be able to justify a purchase like that.
In Germany the price is currently 4598.50€ and with guide rail 5057, 60€
@@evgeniydeus8137 I know a lot of carpentry business that only get Mafell saws. They are the best saws you‘ll ever get your hands on.
For the pricepoint they sell here, it‘s honestly rather easy to justify that purchase as a carpenter, if you handle big diameter logs regularily
My wife would always ask what’s with you boys and toys, honestly could spend hours trawling through Gaston’s truck
Love the channel Scott! Always looking forward to the next exciting episode.
I haven't seen Gaston videos before and I love it. He reminds me of an uncle I have back home. Great tools too! thanks
When Gaston walked behind the saw to hold the timber, I was like please don't kickback please don't kickback. Kiddies out there, never stand behind an operational circular saw, especially holding the timber.
I was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone noticed that 👍🏽
yeah terrifying, even standing in front with a saw that size with that much torque... like bruh it'd cut you in half.
videos with Gaston are always my favourite, it's like christmas every time, I don't get any presents, but watching other people play and show off new toys is always a treat. WIsh there were more videos with Gaston... I think I've watched them all.
His behind the product antics are rather amusing.
I friggen love when Gaston comes to town
I'm a Journeymen Cabinet Maker out here in Canada. I will never need that saw ever, but I really want it lol
See if you can luck into an old 40's or 50's Porter Cable K10 or K12 beast. I picked one up, sans lower blade gaurd, for $22.50 at auction 😁
The big Makita beam saw is great. Get an old one for 300 bucks. Make sure nothing else is plugged in to the 15 amp circuit.
@@wurclav1 Second on that Makita, I've used one lots for beams they are great and super cheap!
There's a Makita on kijiji right now. 200 bucks. Needs work but worth it.
don't we all
Tim Taylor and Al Borland are at it again! TOOL TIME! (If anyone remembers Home Improvement)
I just love how Passionate this guy is about tools, don't come across tool shops like that very often that just tells you about the tools for what it really is, no bullshit, so you will always go back to him
Rewatched all the Gaston videos yesterday, then wake up to this. Happy Sunday 😊
Veto pro packs are expensive, but they make life a lot easier. And Wera tools, what can I say... quality.
Mafell is the king of woodworking tools 👍😍
I’ve had the Rali 105 in nickel since 2001 and love it, easy depth adjustment and always square to the sole. I gifted one to a friend who is a trimwork contractor several years ago and he loves it also.
Love that you're not shy to share that the tool you're receiving is an advert, lots of creators try to hide it, you have nothing to hide!!!
intead of santa claus coming to town Gaston is coming to town
in my shop i use a mallet, my "in the field chisels" have never been hit with a mallet in their life lol
Gaston, I used to serve you at Blacks in Nelson so glad you get to stock Wera your a true salesman and your passion for quality tools always shines through.
I love your videos Scott I am an apprentice from the uk and love watching your videos to learn what other joiners do in other places keep it up man the quality of the videos have improved a lot since I first started watching you 😁😁
Whereabouts in the uk are you m8? I hope that your apprenticeship is with a decent firm.
I like that multiplying screwdriver, I think I'll buy one.
The WERA impaktor bits are just the best I have used up to now...
Hello Gaston! So good to see your smiling face again. Scott, You should do a little New Year video of your band of characters just sharing a meal and some laughs. We could all use some cheer after 2020.
Featuring piranha tools in your videos is a Christmas present for us!❤️
"That's not a saw, that's a spoon!" "I see you've played saw-ies spoon-ies before!"
WERA is quality tools!!!!! 10/10
😍😍😍
Great video. I like these tool ones. I like tools just like you guys.
When Gaston grabbed the timber behind the saw, while you were cutting. I thought about what sort of kickback a saw like that has. I had to close my eyes.
What was the light that you can plug different batteries into?
I second this. Couldn't find it on their website
Yes please give us an answer
That other blue light is a Grizzly Light so I just looked up the site & there’s an “edge 20w hybrid worklight” with “coming soon” as the picture. Looked at the description & it says it’s compatible with leading brands power tool battery systems. So that’ll be the one👍🏼
Like the vids, sorry I can't take part in the give away since I live in Iceland. Always good to see Gaston and the newest and latest in tools 👌💪
Mallet or hammer?
@@alexjames1146 hammer sadly, those few times I use a wood chisel it's just the beating object closest to me.
Incredible saw!!
Thanks for showing us!
Always great to see Gaston
I love the smell of maffell in the morning.
That saw would be perfect for cutting dovetails.
off doves?..
Could be a dove processor or a good tennon saw perhaps?
emu tails
Gaston is awesome! Always a good video when he visits
Been using Stealth mounts for a couple years in UK ,i have boards set up in workshop plus when no site just hang them up for each brand of tool i have .Found all the trades use them saves time .
Please set up a piranha tools in Scotland.
You can buy a good ninety percent of the tools that he sells from the timber framing tools uk website m8.
@@garethheathcote4988 thank will check them out
Hi. What brand was the site light?
Thanks in advance!
That was a hikoki or Hitachi
Loove the Gaston vids!
Nice video again i like to see al te new hand tools from Gaston I hope you will show more of this video's in the future 😁👍what a beast that mafell saw 😅
I use a “mallet” with a Chisel. On the battery mounts I like the Milwaukee.
Is mullet the correct answer jw
@@toonzbrah4316 You could cut your mullet with a chisel ...
The kick back on the mafell would rip your arm off!
And possibly your head too! We had a contractor killed in the U.K a few years ago, when his 7 1/4" circular saw kicked back and somehow it jumped up and sliced his jugular open......that Mafell would cut you in half!
Yep seems like a bad idea. Just like when putting big bits in your router at some point it becomes dangerous and you're better off using a router table.
I was worried when Gaston stood in the front then at the back while cutting.
These are the best videos with Gaston
Love my veto bag . Glad their growing! Quality!
Gaston (or anyone really) shouldn't put his hands behind a circ saw. It can always kick back and guess what it's gonna hit.
I actually did't know the exchange rate nzd to euro untill this video pretty interesting
10000nz=5000euro
Loved some of those new tools from Gaston!
I have my batteries in the van on stealth mounts, easy to grab without digging through boxes to use or change. Also have that mini hultafors pry bar, really useful and surprisingly strong
And all the US viewers are saying what about us.
Well now you know how giveaways feels to other country users.
10k ? wtf.
I come from Germany and have exactly the same saw, but here it costs “only” 4,000 euros. The Mafell products are awesome for hard and big work.
On his previous tools it was the same massive difference, export, taxes, gst, etc it all goes up alot when u go to the other side of the planet :D
Yeah, that was my thought as well. 10k seems a little excessive compared to the 4000€ over here. But I think it is a matter of import taxes and customs. That's probably why the price increases so steeply.
May I ask you where you use it for? Timberframing? I'm Dutch but i've never seen one being used here.
@@donderjager4770 it can be used for timberframing as well as anywhere where you have to cut beams over 100mm (I think that is the minimum cut depth of that particular saw). For example in large production buildings where the roof construction is made from wood. Or pole frame buildings. Basically any beam that you'd have to cross cut multiple times to go through.
@@mrhortimer1 Yeah I know, I was curious to his specific use. Since in The Netherlands we rarely use those kind of sized beams.
I have Makita battery clips next to the shelf where I have my chargers. I put uncharged batteries in or behind the chargers, and promote them to the clips as they charge. Love it, makes life easier!
Wera tools are the absolute bomb! I am from Holland and it's still quite unknown here but you can buy it at the right places. Once you bought one set, there's no going back to other brands! By far the best brand I've used for hand tools. Cool to see the brand in your vid.
Thats a saw you dont want kickback from!!!!
Yeah ikr. Id be shitting myself if i were to use that lol
I've used one a lot and that was always my worry but, for whatever reason, I've never experience it nor heard of anyone who has.. they don't spin that fast perhaps, or the lumber sizes you're cutting resist pinching just due to their size?..
@@adammacer don’t know other brands’s beam saws, but this one has a riving Knife, maybe that helps avoiding pinching? Just my opinion, I don’t know for sure.
I’ d be more worried about using that kind of beam saws (don’t know if it’s the right name) that have bar and chain like chainsaws.
@@riccardovazzoler8517 Yes, of course - that would make a big difference for sure. I don't recall ours being fitted with them but probably were.
Those saws never really kick back. The slow RPM, ratio of power to weight and especially the diameter of the blade make it far less powerful than normal size saws per kilo. They just stop and that's it.
Don't Mafell make a 610mm hand held saw that takes two men to operate...one pushing and one pulling?
I think it's the chainsaw beam cutter. It has two 240v motors on it
Yes, a buddy has one.. used it once on a job I was helping on.. an insane, and insanely heavy, bit of kit..
Gaston!? Oh man this is going to be a great video! Tools are just the best!
4:53 You wanna have at the shavings on you face? You can do that. 😆 🤣 😂 this guy is class
Great video Scott we have used Veto pro pac bags for years in the USA and in my opinion the best on the market from a electrical contractor point of view
Iv had my veto pro tp4 pouch and tech back pack for years now ! They are the best made bag in the business!
Love new toys. I have a few of the Rali Planes. They are pretty good
MAKITA! I don't do Instagram, but as for chiseles... I use whatever's handy, hammer, mallet, 2x4, or some elbow grease.
Gaston always has a way of showing up on the best of days.
I’m from Canada and I like what you do on your CZcams channel. Thats a big one and that’s what she said
Always nice to see gaston 👍
I normally use a hammer day to day for rough carpentry. But the correct tool to use is a mallet and I would love to have the Dewalt battery clips please. Keep up the good work Scott
I did the two days showcase with Mafell in Germany a few years back going through every product testing and trying them out. Incredible machines! Now work for the UK distributor! You can’t beat Mafell.
14:54 thx for sacrificing your “container” with all the sawdust to show us that beam saw👍🏻👍🏻
I'm so surprised Scott didn't plug in the mighty festol up to it
10/10 the veto bags for hvac, I use the tech lc and the tp4 for rooftops carries everything needed for 90% jobs
Awesome video guys :) Piranhatools u are a cool man ;)
Hey awesome vids as always!! I used that saw a few times in Switzerland, powerful!! Do your self favor and get the RALI planer they are great!!
Keep up the good work scott
I’ve had the Vito tech lc, It’s the best thing I ever bought. Heating technician from the Uk. The other bags also look amazing
The Wera collection is by far my favourite drivers and bits I've ever seen, I keep the compact one that has the bits hidden inside it on me at all times, I'm slowly building up my set of Wera tools because they are expensive but they feel like they'll last a lifetime.
I have the backpack and the tool pouch they are the best tool bags out there. I ha e had the backpack for a few years now and its wah better then anything I have used in 14 years as a residential service plumber.
I've used one of these bad boys. Surprisingly easy to use.
Hi I was using this saw in the 1990 in Germany 🇩🇪 they had them connected to the 3 phase electric supply a very powerful machine and light weight I was cutting bevelled up stands for the permitter of a grass pitched roof it did the job easily I was surprised how easy it did the job
i used mafell skillsaw and loved it back in the UK
I was 19 when I ran a beam saw while building prefabricated log homes. Biggest hand saw i ever opperated. Largest saw i ever used and did maintenance on was a band saw on a track powered by hydraulics that had a 20' blade talk about power! I ran some freaking amazing equipment in that job.
4:54 I love how serious he sounded haha
I use a mallet for the chisel. And I would love the Milwaukee battery mounts!
Never stand behind that beast of a saw again Gaston.great video 👍
I wish Gaston came to my town but then I would spend too much money. He finds the coolest tools.
We want Piranha tools in The Netherlands!! Big thanks to Gaston!
Veto bags are ace. Iv got the xl. Love it.
I dont have instagram, but im subscribing to your patreon. I would love festool mounts! And definitely a mallet haha.
