I like how she said “maybe I should do 8 kisses” and they technically kissed 8 times in this episode
This is the best Marichat episode ever, by far. This is also the episode that killed me and the entire Fandom. And this is also the first Canon consensual kiss and it's marichat. Marichat won. And this is also the episode that killed the love square. Adrienette is the last ship standing since every other ship is platonic now. Adrienette for the win!!

I'm not sure if it counts, but I think I'd personally consider oblivio the first consensual kiss considering they were both their true selves. And as a adrienette shipper, I feel like an episode like this was needed to show how realistic it is
say what you will about Cat Blanc, Guiltrip, Strikeback and the like - this is probably the episode with the darkest events in Miraculous history! i couldn’t believe what i was seeing! and from the fact that Luna finished editing so quickly, i’m guessing she couldn’t either!
we witnessed a very mature exploration of emotions in this episode! while it seems the age rating did not, in fact, go up, this was probably related to why it would have. now we are on hiatus until whenever they get 511 finished, i guess. and according to Thomas, we still aren’t ready for what’s to come.

The kiss that nothing has forgotten
The kiss that had sent the fandom into spiraling out of control 😂
Maricat (or "Marichat" as some call it) always seemed like the oddest and unlikeliest pairing because the two partners in it were the most distant, lacking feelings for each other - so it would be quite a stretch for them to develop feelings, therefore the reward if they did so would be all the sweeter. Small wonder that it attracted a legion of devoted and expectant fans, who can rejoice in this particular outing, all the more because the scenes between them were so vividly sensual and actually took place; this time there was no "reset button" that restored the timeline or erased memories.
Latching onto this, the creators provided an episode for them in each season - with, notably, the villain Glaciator not far behind them on three such occasions. Each time, there was the tease of something possibly developing; here it finally happened, but as always it led Monarch to identify a potential vulnerability and strike at it. Clearly, the message they want to hammer home, though it's painful and frustrating, is that our heroes cannot be a couple until they have finally defeated him. When all is said and done, Adrien and Marinette are the only true factors in the equation, so no other pairing can ultimately succeed.
In pushing Marinette away, Adrien as Cat Noir was indeed being noble. In the original "Glaciator," Ladybug told him she didn't want to play around with his feelings; perhaps those words came back to him as he told Marinette that he couldn't take advantage of her because she didn't know his identity behind the mask. And though she wasn't to know it, he now has feelings for her as Adrien at long last, so that part of him was clearly trying to restrain himself, fearing that she would hate him if she ever discovered that he was Cat Noir all along and had used that persona to have his way with her. (Maybe she wouldn't have done, but we should perhaps stop and think: how would I feel if somebody did that to me?)
Amidst the ruins of yet another ship, there's a tiny glimmer of hope: Adrien now knows that Marinette was in love with him, and for quite some time as well. It's not as huge a bombshell as Marinette outing herself as Ladybug to Alya in "Gang of Secrets," but it is equally significant in the series as a whole. From now on, Adrien is no longer clueless about her.
Season 5 is eliciting some brilliant responses from you, dear Luna! It's definitely pulling at the emotional strings more than ever: first "Jubilation" and now "Elation" have left watchers feeling the opposite way ("Depression" and "Deflation" might have been better titles?!) but it's all building up to something. Would you agree that "Elation" is up there with "Oblivio" and "Cat Blanc," among the greatest individual episodes this series has delivered?

Chat feels that he is taking advantage of her being a fan I guess it's like if you dated a celebrity and how people would feel said celebrity is taking advantage of you and that you have a power dynamic and the same applies to MariChat that while Chat doesn't know her identity as Ladybug he knows Marinette whereas Mari doesn't know he's adrien he's just some superhero who's really famous so in a sense it'd be a celebrity/fan relationship and people would think he's taking advantage of her feelings for him and in this episode Chat felt that because of their differences in power how she's a fan and he's not he felt that he was taking advantages of her feelings so it's completely understandable why it didn't work

5:58 the "WEEEE" cat noir did was added as a joke from the voice actor he said its totally something the charater would do and so he added it, he said he was so happy when they put it in the episode... theres a short video where he talks about it
Yeah. I remember seeing a video that Bryce talks about improvising with cat puns and there are a few moments that Cat Noir does make cat noises
I mean, I understand why it wouldn’t work out. It’s because since Cat Noir knows that Marinette doesn’t crush on Adrien anymore, he thinks it’s wrong to kiss her when she doesn’t know his identity and she doesn’t actually love Adrien. And I do agree it would tough to love a superhero without knowing their identities, since the superhero is their other side while their identities are basically their real self. If you know what I mean
Mr. Glacier's behavior in this ep reminds me of the more rabid shippers within the ML fandom, the ones who rabidly insist on this or that angle of the Love Square above all others... and the problems with the toxic, obsessed brand of shipping that haunts most fandoms. These people claim to be fans of the series, but their gatekeeping and vitriol threaten to ruin the experience for everyone.
I knew that I would definitely have to turn the volume down when you react to this. Lol.

Sad thing is, I'm not entirely sure Marinette does truly love cat noir. At least, not yet. It's been obvious that she still has feelings for Adrien and is just trying to avoid them because cat noir would be the "safer" choice
Because of cat blanc, she doesn’t think he is a safer choice. But she can’t resist feelings for him
If she wanted it to be safer, she would’ve just pursuit Luka
She just has begun to see the other side of cat noir that made her fall for Adrian.

You know it’s poetic that Elation is almost a direct role reverse to what happened in Glaciator, which is the episode where the Marichat relationship really started to bloom.

Andre managed to kill not one, not two, but three love ships in one episode. Truly a formidable villain, this is a Lila level threat
I hate him he’s really immature and obsessive. He’s literally freaking out about a teenagers love life… And just because they are soulmates doesn’t mean they have to date first
He does to serve other people. Why couldn’t he served marichat? He served Marinette with Luka and Adrian Kagami.
André, the ice cream man even said in wish maker you don’t have to be in love to enjoy ice cream, so why is he back tracking on that?

this is not the end of the love story! this episode just clears out the marichat ship but starting from the next episodes one ship will be the main focus of the show!
I think why chatnoir decided he couldn’t be with her was because he found out she didn’t love Adrien anymore that’s why he was like but you dont know who’s behind the mask because he felt like he was lying to her because she loves chat not Adrien but that’s the same person 😢
I feel like it's going by less noticed with some viewers that while we know that Marinette's trepidation with a relationship with Chat Noir was driven by the whole akuma dangers, yada yada, Chat's trepidation started even before that when it was revealed that she "used to be" in love with Adrien. Hence why he has a sort of sardonic remark that goes under the radar "if my fans knew who I was under the mask, maybe they wouldn't be my fans anymore". Which seems so odd to say, because why would anyone not be a fan of both a superhero and supermodel, it's not like he's despicable in one form or the other right? Part of his issue starts with the fact that if he pursued a relationship with Marinette as CN, he'd be putting up a mask again (literally and figuratively) by being anything but Adrien since she *supposedly* fell out of love with him. So yeah, basically the reason he cannot be with Marinette as CN is because he believes she fell out of love with Adrien and he won’t take advantage of having another persona to get around that. There's so much talk in the fandom at times about "true selfs" and other nonsense (I have many opinions on that that we don't have time for), and some really latch on to the idea that Chat Noir is the "true self" but that is so far from true. Adrien is just as much CN as CN is Adrien, and it's the differentiating between them that leads to issues. This episode even went out of it's way to show both CN and Adrien being hounded by the same crazed fans for a reason, which is to say that that those two lives are not so different, and that Adrien want's most to be seen for who he is, not behind one persona or the other, but beneath all of it. Anyways I loved this episode for that reason /rant complete!
edit: I lied I thought of more to say lol! It's also a blessing and a curse type thing for him because what he fails to recognize is that Marinette actually did fall in love with the "real" not-supermodel-pretty-boy-but-kind-and-caring-sweet-boy him back then, and was also starting to recognize those characteristics in CN but he's so self-conscious of his personality be distorted by his status that he constantly brushed off her attention as her being the very word he continually used in this episode: just a "fan". The boy doesn't even know if anyone can see the real him, but she can, but he can't know that so it's beautiful and tragic all at the same time which is quintessential love square tbh.

In terms of their feelings, Maricat is definitely the new Ladrien but in terms of the general vibe, I'm getting what I usually get from Ladynoir: angst.
