Prince Cihangir gets in bed to die!
Cihangir grieves for Mustafa and gets off his feed. Suleiman struggles desperately for his son. Hurrem gets worried about Cihangir. Bayezid's anger for his mother doesn't cool off. Rustem gets worried for his life and his fears come true. One of Mustafa's friends goes back to the capital to take his revenge. He surrounds Rustem's palace with the revolters. Bayezid saves Mihrimah and Rustem. As Cihangir's clamours surround the whole camp, Suleiman puts out of his misery. Hurrem and Suleiman gets tested with the grief of losing a child. As Hurrem gets devastated byy Cihangir's death, Suleiman tries to heal his soul. A bitter fight starts between Hurrem's two living sons to be able to ascend the throne.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

In the end Mahidevran was right about three things.
    1. Süleyman punishing his remaining two children killing one and hating the other
    2. Süleyman was at fault for all the thing happening in the harem when he had the power to stop everyone with a simple word from his mouth
    3. Bayezid and Selim would fight each other for the ottoman throne

Hurrem or Mahidevran: who is evil?
So. In the fandom there is always team Hurrem and a very few people who stands for Mahidevran.. lets analyze the situation in an objective point of view.
Before the series, Mahi lived at Manisa and everyone loved her. Not the first woman who gave Suleiman a child, but she was generous, elegant and all... everything was perfect for her.
Then Selim 1st died, her man became the sultan of a worldwide empire. She had to come to the capital and must felt very excited to move in a even more magnificent life, but she immediately saw that she was better at Manisa.
First of all, Hafsa publicly scolded her for little Mustafa's sayings, and then Gulfem come to her and bragged about the Sultan having festivities in his room with many others women instead of spending time with her.
Last but not least...THE woman appeared.
I don't know if Suleiman touched other women than Mahi at Manisa, but the latter immediately felt that Alexandra would not be just a one night stand. Suleiman called her, but after what Valide heard by Daye's eavesdrop, she prevented it but Suleiman called Alex the next night and kept her with him for the famous Thursday night. Then she understood that she was not the number one in his heart anymore.
Suleiman NEVER touched her after that, even in the few nights when he feign calling her, and it wasnt like she could move and build her life somewhere else with another man. So there she was, sentenced to see the only man who could ever touch her giving everything to another woman till death.
Tragic story, yes. But there is still things that prevent me to feel bad for her.
First of all: her cruelty. Yes, Hurrem was arrogant and rude towards her while she was still a childless concubine. But she hadnt done anything yet who deserve to be killed, and Mahidevran was still totally comfortable with almost beating her to death and poison her while she was PREGNANT.
Her cowardice/hypocrisy is annoying too: whatever mistake she does, she ALWAYS run to Hafsa or Pargali's skirts, to complain or cover her. The most blatant example is when she cries in her room after Suleiman made her apologize to Hurrem, she lies to Mustafa about how it happened, then she ran to Hafsa because of her son reaction..
Also when Suleiman almost died and she was near from the Valide fonction. If so, then she would be rid of the man who neglected her along with Hurrem and her kids, it is understandable that she wasnt sad. But when he woke up, she pretended to be relieved and blamed Hurrem in front of the harem for Suleiman not letting her kiss his hand, even Hafsa saw her colours at this moment.
And when Sultan made her the harem chief, she messed up with the harem expenses and the jewish merchant, got mad when the latter asked for her right, even Gulfem confronted her... Suleiman dismissed her and she ran to Ibrahim, begging again to cover her and his answer was soooo satisfying.
There, none of her mistakes had something to do with Hurrem. Proof that even outside of her rivalry with her, Mahidevran is just an incompetent and untrustworthy brat.
Does that means I root for Hurrem? Not really either.
One of her favourite sentences"I didn't start the hostilities" is...innacurate.
When she came to the palace, she was just shouting and asking for death. Then Nigar advised her and told that since she cant leave, she could gain power. Then, Alex seized her chance.
But Daye heard her telling Maria that she would make the Sultan her slave and left before hearing her saying it was a joke and reported it to Hafsa. But even she tried, Suleiman got what he wanted as the emperor he is and during the festivities, she saw Hurrem, a new favorite disrespect Mahidevran, a mother prince and it was unacceptable. Then her son ignored her will and she kept hearing bad things about Hurrem, of course she would try to get rid or such a woman.
Even before her first pregnancy, Hurrem was acting as if she owned the world and was arrogant towards everyone. The Gulnihal affair was very heinous cuz yes the girl liked the idea of having gifts and all like Hurrem, and what was she supposed to do if she was called? Then Hurrem whispered to her ear like a witch...
Then her concern towards Mustafa. Thats right: if he ascended the throne, maybe he said he would never kill his siblings (and never say never, especially for power games) but his supporters would, maybe even behind his back especially Mahi.
During Cihangir ceremony, Hurrem said to Mahi "thankfully i don't have the dynasty blood on my hands" but that sounded kinda hypocritical since she already tried to kill Mustafa many times...
But her stans says "she was a poor girl who lost everything" so was Maria, Esma, and all the harem girls, yet none of them are as problematic as Alexandra. "She genuinely loves Suleiman!" And? Is that supposed to excuse all her wrongdoings? And personally, I don't see suicide for love as a honorable thing at all.
Seriously, how can so many people not see what a terrible person she is? Just because of main character syndrome? If the show was on Mahidevran's point of view, many persons would see the truth.
At the end of her life in the show, she was portrayed as an angel but her confrontation with Nurbanu is interesting cuz the latter had a point: Cécilia is exactly what Alexandra would have been if she met Suleiman as a prince with rival brothers.

I agree. Everyone justifies all Hurrem's evil action as "To survive." But all Mahi's "Evil and power hungry." They were in the exact same situation, they wanted to protect their sons and definitely both of them also wanted power, who wouldn't? People justify Hurrem's evilness because "She was enslaved and her family killed." Forgetting that the exact same thing happened to Mahidevran and all the other Haseki's and girls in the Harem and they didn't start hurting people and causing chaos straightaway "To survive." I'll say it again, they were both in the exact same situation and mission, they wanted to protect their sons and be in power rather than be under the power of their enemies. It upset Mahidevran about Suleiman taking other women, but she was able to accept it (only until Suleiman acted like she didn't exist) whereas Hurrem had a Concubine killed just because she possibly spent the night with Suleiman and another killed before she even got to Suleiman's door. People use the "To survive excuse" but like Mahi, because Hurrem had Princes nothing would have happened to her, she would be safe and stay a respected member of the Harem. Everyone mentions Mahi trying to kill Hurrem when she was pregnant but of course we all know Hurrem never tried to do that? Everyone hates Mahi for killing Mehmet, calling it "Evil and power hungry." But Hurrem's uncountable attempts on Mustafa was again "To survive." Mahi obviously killed Mehmet for Mustafa's sake but the first time Hurrem tried to kill Mustafa he was a child and it was because she had been humiliated Infront of him.

I totally agree with u. Ppl really need to understand both women had blood on their hands. But ppl shouting to mahi for doing the sm things from the prespective that she loves the sultan and then supporting character Hurrem for the sm or worse doings is just so hypocrite!!! Both had no choice still Mahi was less dramatic, low-key and she hardly took big steps mostly she only cried or asked for help. But Hurrem had killed so many lives on the series, she was extremely ruthless, selfish and manipulative. Ppl really need to understand being a mastero in manipulation is not a proud thing. Hurrem in real or reel she did lived a magnificent life but not a good life. She had to endure much more insulation, suffocation, guilts and lastly regretfully knowing her karma of killing Mustafa was to see one of her prince killing another ( she also had to witness Chihangir's death). No one could escape the karma so y support one and shout to another for the sm things they did??

@Dreamfyre In the first case (when Mehmet wasn't born yet) - yes, it was jealousy. However, in the second case we must remember three things:
      - Mehmed has the same rights for a throne as Mustafa.
      - A shehzade, who arrives to Stambul first after the death of Sultan, will be a sultan. His unlucky brothers and nephews may be executed - it depends on a new padişah.
      - Manisa is not so far from Stambul, contrary to Amasya and other sanjacks.
So, if Süleyman dies, Mehmet has the biggest chance to be his successor. Will he execute Mustafa? Only Allah knows. Mahidevran could either rely on Him or make sure that at least one possible threat is eliminated.

In real life Mahi didn't kill any of Harrem's son. But historians agreed that Harrem manipulated Suleyman into believing Mustafa wanted to dethrone him, which is not true. Cihangir died a month after Mustafa was killed is God's response to Hurrem. Beyazid and her 4 sons were killed by Suleyman's order too. @@Taashu85In turkey and in history people might've liked Hurrem for being the empress from a slave and gaining power as a woman. But there are lots of controversies about her too. Which make people hate her till now. She was actually manipulative, possessive and wanted power irl. While Mahidevran had nothing to do with Mehmet's death plus she was known as a generous and kind hearted woman. In the series they showed Mahidevran as a parasite, coward and weak woman. Irl she was a brave and fair woman too. She raised Mustafa to be worthy for the throne and made him a kind and just prince. She did a lot of charities and devotedly spent her entire life to protect and raise Mustafa. When Mustafa died she freed all her slaves and gave up all her properties and wanted to live as a normal woman. But her slaves wanted to stay with her till the end and never wanted anything in return. Irl Mahidevran has no hater, Hurrem has. Hurrem's 3 sons died and one became sultan who wasn't even loved by people. The empire weakened because of her. So technically Mahidevran won. In all way.

The curse given by Mahidevran really happened in the end. However, because Hurrem was actually not completely at fault (she did it for revenge). Thankfully, Hurrem died before Mahidevran's curse occurred. So Hurrem won't be too sad to see her two children fight and kill each other. It's crazy how once Hurrem said to Mahi that she'll lose everyone besides her then and now mahi cursing that her own sons would kill each other and Suleiman wouldn't spare them. Like both times their words came true. But Hurrem called her own destruction, she was responsible for her sons death everytime. If only she didn't tried to kill teenage Mustafa as soon as he comes and everytime she's threatening Mahi that she'll use Mehmed for Mustafa and Suleiman's conflict Mahi wouldn't count Mehmed as a competition as Mustafa was always everyone's favorite, smart, superior so she wouldn't be insecured before but only when Hurrem dug her own son grave starting this dirty politics. Then she loses Chihangir who died bcz he lost his brother Mustafa whom Hurrem killed. Then again she dies knowing Selim will kill Beyazid. Every death of her sons were her own karma. Everything was so perfect before she came. Ottoman empire would be so enriched with Mustafa's era. She's a epic ruiner for everything. She destroyed everyone for her own benefits then again karma she couldn't lived enough to be a Valide, she could never ever live her dreams.

Girl it’s your own damn fault.
Killing Mehmet, gassing Mustafa’s head up with hubris to the point of pure disobedience…. Your misery is your own doing, and you should have known the day the mirror broke that you were gonna pay for the sin of murdering a dynasty member.
And Hurrem…. As much as I am on your side, you KNOW the cost of power. You knew that you couldn’t protect them all unfortunately. Çihangir’s death is unfortunate, but you knew the love he had for his brother…. You had to have known this was a possibility in this game.

I hate all of those that write such comments, Mahidevran Sultan have more suffer since Hurrem Sultan arrive at palace, Mahidevran wanted that goods for her son Mustafa and will searched to be loved by Suleyman. Mahidevran is the great victim of Hurrem's games, Mahidevran wanted be recognised too as Haseki Sultan but Hurrem blinded the mind of Suleyman for make him forgot definitively Mahidevran and her true position as the 1st mother of shezade. I love Mahidevran and Suleyman's sisters more that Hurrem, all of those who are eliminated from Hurrem's games prevent Suleyman many Times that Hurrem will go to become their pain until their last day ( Mahidevran, Hatice, Mustafa, Ibrahim, Hafsa, Shah, Fatma and Gulfem ) and finally Sultan Suleyman never listened all of them. They have all bet their hope in Mustafa for to become a better and fair Sultan for the Empire, they have right about Hurrem, since she arrive, she changed the game rule and turned the rule at her advantage to the detriment of other members of the royal family. Finally same two of Hurrem's sons suffer of game of their mother. Cihangir suicide himself after the loose of his great pillar his brother Mustafa, Mihrimah loose her last pivot of power in person of her brother Bayezid. And i go further in my reasoning, Huricihan the Hatice's daughter, Mihrunisa the Bayezid's wife, all of Mustafa's sons are dead and are victims of Hurrem's game. Hurrem is not the good Sultan. She is the Sultan who destroyed a great part of Ottoman Dynasty.

but was she? before Hurrem, Mahidevran was the "Hurrem" of the Sultan. Suleyman had Gulfem and had 2 (??) children with her who later died. Mahidevran unsurped Gulfem who was never bitter about it. Hurrem was much smarter who knew how to keep her position.
