Mustafa saves Selim from the janissaries. However, Selim keeps Mustafa responsible about what happened. Selim realizes what awaits for him for the first time if Suleiman dies.
Hürrem confesses Mustafa, who saved her son's life, something shocking: "I wish you were my son."
An unexpected guest from Rustem past comes to the palace. His brother faces up to Rüstem after years. The character Sinan is performed by Serdar Orçin.
Mihrimah realizes Selim's fears and has a big quarrel with Mustafa. Mihrimah has to make a choice. Mustafa's life for Bayezid and Selim's lives.
Mustafa irreversibly rides for a fall because of Mihrimah's betrayal!
Will Suleiman the Magnificent get over his illness? Will the doctors be able to relieve his pain with iced water? Will the ones who supports Prince Mustafa accede to the throne become successful on their plan?
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Mustafas mistake was not to correct people when they were calling him sultan and praising him over his father. That was a sign to everyone that he was openly competing with his father. Extremely disrespectful at that time in that society. He should have played down his own importance.

If he had a mother that didn't act like that I think it would be completely different. Alot of what hurrem and in the end Suleiman did was to protect the other prince's as they knew Mahideveran wouldn't let them live.

Indeed, Mehmet and Selim were the only princes who didn't rebel. Even Chaghir rebeled against his parents, but he was powerless and favorite because of his illness, he was pittied on and nothing happened to him. Had he been healthy with his attitude he would have died even faster. He was a total ungrateful brat who sided with his mother's enemies. Mustafa was kind, but jealous and didn't had good guidance, so he was too rash and didn't think thru. Bayezid was worse, he was too impulsive and hot headed. Selim was unfortunatelly an alcoholic good for nothing in the end...i think Suleyman knew the emipre was doomed after Mehmet's death, he was the only one truly worth the throne.

Strictly commenting on the television series, if Suleiman would have stopped Mahidevran in the beginning when she beat Hurrem, tried to poison her, lied and so on and so on; the story would have been different but it would not have gained the popularity that it has. Mahidevran's character was downright petty, evil, jealous, narcissistic and vindictive. She was stupid enough to think she could win, she didn't realize that Hurrem was more than up for the game. Mahidevran lost everything because she could not let go of a man that did not love her anymore and it was all about the wrong she felt was done to her. I'm like are you for real! Sis, you are in a harem and you were lucky enough Mustafa survived because Suleiman first set of children died. Suleiman was weak in handling his family because so many things he could have ended. He lost everything including his soul when he killed his sons. So sad but glad history writes a different story. History reads after Suleman met Hurrem he got rid of his harem.

I believe she tried to be a good mother, giving him some good advice as an adult, but the upbringing she provided was poor. She raised him as “The Crown Prince”, “The Heir”, which is already not good for any child. Moreover, she allowed him to witness her suffering. He grew up seeing his mother crying and, whether he wanted it or not, nurtured a resentment towards his father.
We must remember that this story does not fit into our current society; they were not father and son, but ruler and subject. Suleiman, as the sultan, should not have been challenged, not even by his sons; all owed him submission, including his family. Mustafa did what he thought was right but disobeyed his father's orders; he gained the support of the army, and the entire empire was already talking about him being crowned.
In my country, there is a saying: “Tell me who you walk with, and I'll tell you who you are”. Suleiman knew that everyone around Mustafa wanted to put him on the throne; he heard Mahidevran talk about how she would kill Hurrem's children in front of her. He knew that everyone wished for his death so that Mustafa could become the next sultan. If Mustafa was surrounded by traitors, he had the support of traitors and was already acting like a “traitor” by disobeying his father. Suleiman, as a ruler, eliminated a threat to his reign, even if that threat was his own son.
Mahidevran made many mistakes and failed a lot in raising her son, but she did try to be a good mother. That's what I think.

By your account, Mahidevron's wonderful advisements fell on Mustafa's deaf ears. So he was not only disobedient to his father, but his mother too. It's no wonder he ended with the rope.
