"CAN YOU FORGIVE ME?" Magnificent Century Episode 133: • Magnificent Century Ep...
Suleiman doesn't want to accept that Hürrem will die and tries to find a cure for her. Meanwhile, Lala Mustafa Pasha takes Selim's side and sets a trap for Bayezid. Bayezid loses his temper because of the letter he received from Lala Mustafa and wages battle against Selim. Signor Pedro offers Mihrimah to run away together. Rüstem loses his all faith for Mihrimah and gets close with Signora Mendes. Suleiman and Hürrem wrestle with their consciences in Bursa where they have gone fır finding a cure. While Suleiman taking the hardest test of his life in Mustafa's tomb, Hürrem asks for Mihrimah's blessing. Hürrem accepts the death and asks for a wish from Suleiman. This wish sets Suleiman's heart on fire.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

What makes huge difference between Hurem and Mahidevran is that Hurem regretted all of her mistakes she made while fighting for her existence, Mahidevran was always proud of being evil, she was ready to hate almost everyone not only Hurem. So I think that sentence perfectly describes her all life egoism, even though it generally can be the truth.

That " bow" shows that finally Hurrem recognised Mahidevran.
The gesture is simply superb. Mahidevran at that moment already lost everything in her life. She despite giving birth to a Prince was deprived of palace comfort.
She was no longer a threat. But still Hurtem bowed to her. A Sultana who won the palace intrigue finally bow to her main rival who lost everything on this game of throne

Before Hurrem was abducted, Mahidevran was already enjoying the things you say Hurrem had. Plus the protection of Valide. Mahidevran's biggest enemies and sourcesbof her misery were pride and envy. Thanks to Selim, the son of the person she despised so much, Mahidevran was pulled out from abject poverty in her later years. The scene with the agah and the tulips reminds me of the conversation between Suleiman and Ibrahim (I can't remember if it was him exactly) wherein he likens different flowers to women--they are are all beautiful, but the bring different kinds of beauty into the world, as Allah wanted. It's interesting that they showed this just before Hurrem walks into the scene.
I think it's poignant to note that Suleiman found a lot of joy in having both Hurrem and Mahidevran in his life, along with the other concubines, all of which brought a higher form of beauty into his life, he was very much aware of his situation, given his reflection. I find it sad, though, that those same flowers had to fight and vie for attention, for survival. The flowers may be beautiful, but in the flower box, they are forced to be more than just flowers. Hurrem and Mahidevran have lived this truth intimately from the beginning. And now towards the end, with death around the corner for Hurrem, she is trying to make amends. I understand that Mahidevran's pain (and wish for vengeance) runs too deep, but Hurrem has also tasted loss, defeats, and grief as a mother. Even if there the shadow of anger is left behind in Mahidevran's heart, it's a blessing that these two women were able to talk and bless each other in parting. The flowers take back a little of the heavenly beauty that they lost in the fight to each other. I am happy and my heart is glad that this happened. Death and pain put so much into perspective.

Mahfiran did not kill her, but hurrem, because he is the first supporter of Mustafa, and she got rid of Mustafa by placing doubts in his father's heart. Any person can defend his home, his family, and his children, but what she did was motivated by the fact that she was wronged. She did the worst. Then , her pain grew even more bcs she couldn't hate anymore in face of forgiveness. This scene tried to anchor on Islamic value of forgiveness. Hurrem Sultan intended to seek forgiveness from her nemesis before it was too late. Her intention was pure and simple. Mahidevran Sultan appeared taken aback when Hurrem Sultan expressed her intention. She realised that it was a different Hurrem Sultan she knew. Mahidevran Sultan expected a haughty exchange from someone with power. That was why she tried to pre-empt Hurrem Sultan with her bitter response. Upon hearing Hurrem Sultan's forgiving her, she knew that was for real and had to accept it by forgiving Hurrem Sultan. So, both Sultanas practiced the noble values of humility inspite of what took place between them, and forgiving for the sake of their Lord. That's what Mahidevran Sultan mentioned to Fidan the consequence of not accepting and forgiving others. Nothing about being or believing being superior... I guess we need to at it in that angle. Hurrem always had courage and humility to admit her sins and to forgive her enemies. She never called herself innocent or victim. She always said- hurt me or my family, I will hurt you back! 🦾
Hurrem listened to Mahidervan’s accusations, whining and left her completely speechless by admitting her part in Mustafa’s death. She was generous and strong enough to Forgive Mahidervan killing Mehmed. You can tell Mahidrvan was left speechless after this!
However sadly we also see Mahidervan being bitter and hateful per usual, not admitting her sins-in particular killing Mehmed, not repenting. Constantly blaming Hurrem, Suleiman and everyone around her in her unhappiness. Yazzekkk!
In the end Hurrem left happy this world, loved and surrounded by beloved husband and family. Even after 500 + years she is loved and respected. Mahidervan lived many more years in loneliness and on mercy of Selim-her enemy’s son, as Hurrem predicted.

All other depictions of Hürrem, beginning with comments by sixteenth and seventeenth-century Ottoman historians as well as European diplomats, observers, and travelers, are highly derivative and speculative in nature. Since these people-neither Ottomans nor foreign visitors-were not allowed to enter the inner circle of the many walled harems, they relied heavily on the testimonies of servants or courtiers or popular gossip circulating in Istanbul. Even the reports of the Venetian ambassadors (baili) at Suleiman's court, the most comprehensive and objective first-hand Western source on Hürrem to date, were often filled with the authors' own interpretations of harem rumors. Most of the other sixteenth-century Western sources about Hürrem that are considered highly reliable today-for example, Ogier de Busbecq's Turcicae epistolae (English: The Turkish Letters), are the work of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I in the Porte between 1554 and 1562. And don't forget that Mehmed was killed with Mahi's order , hurem may be rensponsible for slander Mustafa but it was Suleiman's order ...and even then when Suleiman killed Mustafa, Hurrem was sad and cried ....No one was sinless in that series but Hurrem suffered the most ...I mean even with Hatice , Hurrem saved her baby and Hatice forgot it.... Hurrem tried to be kind with everyone but everyone turned against her without even knowing her just by her name .... it's called survival..

I enjoyed neither Hurrems nor Mahidevrans personality in the drama. I understand that both have their reasons for their behaviour, but in the end neither of them accepted the fact, that for the sake of the dynasty, Suleiman had to take other women to his side. Both went on and on and on about how they love Suleiman and how they see themselves as his perfect companion, at some point it tired me out to watch them be at each others throats. I bow before their actresses though, doing an amazing job and giving life to a drama that has been a good entertainment nonetheless. Still my most favourite character will always be Sumbul!
