    I would say Laporta is the major reason the club has revived itself back. The levers he pulled so Xavi could get players he like despite having financial crisis. Then Alemany with his negotiation skills and SD skills helped loading off many players on loan or selling them . Last but not least Xavi Hernandez - legendary player of Barca and came into the scene and helped us get the league trophy after 4 years 💙♥️

      Barcelona just lives, because they got away with their fraud and are part of the UEFA money driven business. The fans and supporters got back to reality out of hate driven fantasy-land. Some will stay, and accept that old fantasy stories were debunked. And others left the club and football, some others watch Real or Espanyol, or Portuguese now, as they are fully comparable, but more solid.

    One lesser-known aspect of Barcelona's debt is that acquiring players is not a major issue for the club. They can easily adjust their debt to purchase players for over 50M if necessary. However, the challenge lies in the registration process, which has been problematic for Barcelona in recent years due to the strict FFP regulations of La Liga, that didn't even ease even during lockdowns. And with other leagues in the world not following La Liga's FFP, La Liga's policies have forced most clubs, except Real Madrid, to either sell their key players or activate Economic Levers to meet the registration requirements.
    This season, the departures of Busquets, Alba, and Pique will reduce Barcelona's wage bill by 120 million (wtf Bartomeu). As a result, Barcelona will return to a 1:1 wage registration ratio according to La Liga's FFP rules. This means that registering players for Barcelona will be relatively easier this summer compared to the previous summer.

    • @MrReese
      @MrReese Před 11 měsíci +3

      I don't think that is a lesser known aspect as we have seen this happening all year long after all. Barca wanted to get rid of several players that are important but earn a lot (most prominently de Jong) in order to reduce the wage spending and thus be able to register players like Lewa and other new signings.

      Absolutely. For a club that praises itself for being drama free and not spending a lot, they certainly went through the roof this season. Highest wage bill in europe excluding psg, players fighting (good punch from mane), players wanting to leave (welcome kimmich), almost bottling the title, sacking their coach and directors. As a Barca fan, Xavi reign hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows with the fanbase. Some see him as can't do no wrong, and some see him hate how he treated Dest, how little he plays Fati, some out of position decisions, and keeping Sergi Roberto in general.
    As for Laporta, he beat Victor Font mostly in part because voters didn't have to envision a plan, they already knew what Laporta could do since the last time the team was most successful, Laporta was in charge. Font hasn't gotten over losing, as recently as last year he was criticizing Laporta.

So when Real comes and denaunce they've been damaged by negreira payments, it's an act of cinicism that cannot go unnoticed. Thats why Laporta said that... not a simple smoke screen. It was in his interest to save Barcelona as not only would it continue to be a relevant rival to Madrid and Atletico sporting wise, but also ideology as Barcelona served the role of representing the people of the Catalan region who "supported" Franco.
      Think, why would Franco remove FC Barcelona alltogether and have the difficulty of forcing hundreds of thousands of supporters to join a new team or lose interest in football? Instead they rename Barca and continue to indoctrinate the people into serving Franco.
      Now, I won't say Franco didn't mistreat Real Madrid because that would be a lie, as Madrid were also forced to support Franco. However, that doesn't make it false that Franco pushed for the signing of Di Stefano to Real Madrid by forcing Barcelona to share him.

    Great video as always!
    I am from Barcelona, and as far as I understand from reading the media here and all, there will be no more levers pulled this summer, since LaLiga changed their rules to make levers not increase the financial fair play, which was why they were used. I don't know how ffp works, so I won't add nothing more to that.
    About the 1.5b debt, as long as it's not short-term, I don't think it's much of a problem (I'm not an economist obviously), since Barça are one of the clubs with the highest revenue. Just before the pandemic (different times, I know), we hit 1b revenue per year. So again, as long as the debt isn't short-term, I think we're fine. The problem a couple of years back was that much of this debt was short-term, but Laporta's board managed to renegotiate it for later on.
    Now, as a Barcelona fan, I am very optimistic on the future. Most of our best players are very young (Pedri, Gavi, Araújo, Balde, Kounde, even FDJ and Dembele even though they're a bit older). We desperately need someone to fill Busquests' shoes, like Zubimendi or Amrabat (and if we manage to get Messi, that'd be glorious).
    I think we can compete in both LaLiga and CL, knowing of course we are not the favourites in the latter (City is too good lol, Madrid in the CL is unreal, and Bayern, even if unstable, are still extremely dangerous, to name a few). But we should be able to go back to the minimum requirement of the quaterfinals without many issues.
    And about the other matters, the Negreira case here has cooled off a bit. Before every newspaper (mainly the Madrid ones) had 4 articles a day about the case. Now I have only seen one in this month, I think. Based on that, I think we'll be ruled out innocent, but we have to wait for the judge.
    And about the Regime thing, I thought it unfortunate of Laporta to say it, but most people here agree with him. Not going to say more since it's a spiky topic.

      As far as I know. Real Madrid was also paying 😅 My only real question is this: How could La Liga allow Negreira to have 2 spots? It has also come out that Barcelona has provided documentation that clears them of any wrongdoing. I think there are talks about suing Tebas for the false documents sent to UEFA. Tebas is doing everything in his power to bring down Barcelona. It’s real sad to see how he also destroys La Liga. He recently declined goal cameras, because it would cost La Liga 3m/year 😅

It was fairly monumental when it came up, but the more information we've gotten about it - including the little detail that the Catalan prosecutor's office which brought the case up stating that it's a nothing burger - and Laporta in a press conference literally showing the technical reports they received, the less prominence it holds.
    Also 7 million over 18 years is not that much money. Out of all the shit slinging I've seen, this Negreira bullshit is the most malicious. We can apparently accuse any club of cheating, and it's impossible to prove a negative, since that's not how law enforcement works, so I guess everyone's cheating.

    Come on now! It's widely recognized throughout Europe that Real Madrid was Franco's way of showcasing Spain's football prowess and asserting his superiority over all others at that time of history. So, if we're being objective, like a true reporter should be, your take on this subject falls short, Tinashe. A genuine reporter would present the facts, but you seem to have sidestepped them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy your videos, man: they're well-edited, you exhibit a commendable depth of knowledge across all the topics you discuss, they're never dull, and you come across as a likable person. However, you could have done a better job addressing this matter. Believe me, I understand it's a sensitive topic, and even the slightest hint of bias could make someone want to "cut your head off." But let's remember, facts aren't biased; they are simply what is known or proven to be true. I hope you don't perceive this as a hateful comment; I'm merely highlighting the obvious and offering constructive criticism. All in all, keep up the great work with your videos. From the outside looking in, I think he did okay (not good, okay) with the playerd and time he had and the chaos the club was in at the time. He introduced a lot of new players and steadied the ship. In the end, it wasn't working out, but to me it seems he layed the groundworks for Xavi to take it to the next level.

    • @M.Sajid98
      @M.Sajid98 Před 11 měsíci +2

      He did what every Dutch manager at Barca has done and that is laying down the ground work. Just look at how many players of the golden generation made their debut under van Gaal and Frank Rijkaard and same can be said about Koeman but at the same time he was his biggest enemy and towards the end it felt like he was asking to be sacked with the remarks he kept on making towards the board especially Laporta. His game play wasn't exciting to watch but at the same time he didn't have the backing of the board and hence never actually got the proper team he wanted.
      But regardless his time as manager he will always be remembered as one of our best center backs and crucial player in Cruyff dream team leading to Barca's first UCL.

    • @VarunKumar-ro4ll
      @VarunKumar-ro4ll Před 11 měsíci +2

      He came in at a time of uncertainty, with a refurbished squad. As a club legend and an imposing figure he was somewhat able to steady the ship but limitations in his tactics and style of play was pretty evident. While I still think Xavi should've been forced to have European experience before being handed the job, it was clear that Koeman was never the man for this board who wanted a fresh start altogether. Still a club legend but never good enough in the long term for a big club.

      Positives: He encouraged talent and played them, sometimes too much and sometimes the perfect amount. He does good in cup and tournament football, that's why he was the best with the Netherlands.
      Negatives: He was playing a pessimistic 5-3-2 at a club like Barça, blasphemy. No natural wingers and way too many defenders. He is pessimistic and egotistical. He would blame the players and say crazy stuff. He still is very petty and angry, talking shit about Barça, he did that when stuff was going wrong as a manager too.

      @@lexkanyima2195 how what? If you mean how could they have won 3 titles this year, if you watch their matches all season in all competitions, they had 7 draws and 3 losses while Nagelsman was there. I'm almost certain they were all in the league and they were just barely in second place at the time of his being fired. The fact that they beat Barcelona, Inter and Paris twice a piece and gave up zero goals to all of them and the fact that they got better and better in the Champions League as the season went on is how they could've taken it. They had no losses in the UCL and the second match against Paris was by far the best match I've seen and the most professional and the best sportsmanship from both teams, but Bayern was on fire, until. Until Tuchel took over, they were the team to beat in the Bundesliga and the UCL and the DFB Pokal. Once Tuchel took over, they killed Dortmund, and then fell off. They lost out of the DFB QF, they lost the first match against City, gave up more goals in that match than in the entire UCL season the only goals they gave up were against Plzeň in a 4-2 win for Bayern. They lost the first leg against City and drew the second leg and we're out on aggregate. It was terrible. Then they even almost lost the league title. Came down to the last match of the season. Mind you, it's not Tuchel's fault. He blame lies with Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić which explains their immediate firing right after the league was won. Kahn wasn't even allowed to attend the match and Salihamidžić got fired before they even left the celebration on the field lol. They wanted Tuchel for next season and Nagelsman's contract expired this summer, but instead of waiting, they blew the season and almost the league by making that drastic change with 2 months left of the season.

    Just wanted to add, the Negreira case all but lost steam after the prosecutors said that they had seen zero evidence that Barca paid to have refs favour them. Further to that, Barca provided substantial evidence proving that they indeed got reports that were given to them by Negreiras son, who run the company that Negreira owned. I realise that even if Barca didn't bribe refs, ethically what they did between 2013 and 2018 (the period during which Negreira served as V.P of the refs committee) is reprehensible and I wish that all the people who led to this debacle can be brought to book.
    Having said that, listing off all the titles Barca won between 2001-2018 so as to question the credibility of those achievements based on accusations that the authorities have themselves called baseless is at best careless and at worst disingenuous of you.
    If you'd like to hear in full detail about the Negreira case, including why it was more of a smear campaign that preyed on the terrible management that the club had been under, I'd be more than happy to share with you the facts around the story, including the ones that news agencies actively chose to not publish.
