I was a avid runner as well. Stuck to my schedule and route. One morning on my run a cop stopped me and said, I see you running every day same time same route, if I see you doing this so do other people. He suggested run at different times and change up my route. I totally took his suggestion and I’m thankful he took the time to stop me.

I was a big-time runner when I was in college. And there was an incident that completely changed my thinking of running alone. I was running on campus, and was clearly being followed by a vehicle. He was going out of his way to follow me. At one point he actually drove up on the curb to get really close to me, and I quickly changed direction. But this went on for about five minutes him trying to follow me and get up to where I was. Fortunately because of how close he was, I was able to get the license plate. I ended up running home calling the police and filed a report. About a week went by, I got a call from the police station, they had caught the guy, here he was the campus rapist that they were looking for. I think about that day a lot, and realize how lucky I was to get away from him. Now when I run I am always with someone.

Reading all these comments is giving me chills. I was an avid hiker my entire life and never had a bad experience with men on trails. (Going jogging a different story)
Being stuck on a mountain with a creep is really scary. At 31 I was with my 11 year old daughter and we were doing harder hikes together as she’d been hiking with me since she was a baby. She was thriving up this mountain and anyone that saw her was complimenting her on how well she was doing for her age. I didn’t think much of it but knew it was a fairly hard hike. On our way down you had to slide down a snow embankment and this girl slid behind me and asked me to stay with her. I asked why, since she was with her boyfriend? She said it wasn’t her boyfriend, it was a guy she met online that took her to this hike for a first date and she had never hiked before. I said girl! This is a really hard hike for a first time.
We agreed to stay with her but he stayed close but didn’t talk to me at all. Not one word but he showed massive interest in my daughter. He kept telling her to come walk by him and ignored me, the mother. My daughter was so trusting she didn’t think it was weird. I had to yell at her to stay with me. She was so mad at me because I made her walk next to me holding my hand. Normally my daughter and I run down trails but the girl wasn’t comfortable so it took until way after dark to get to the bottom. I text our friends that lived close by what was going on and then we lost reception. When we got to the trail head I saw our friends trucks and burst into tears. I didn’t even realize how upset I was until it was over. The guy jolted to his car and took off. The girl had a friend pick her up. Later that night she send me screenshots of him saying how hot her ass looked on that hike! I think we all know what his motives were. The fact he even felt confident enough to text her after.
I haven’t hiked a harder trail since. They’re usually less populated and deeper into the mountains. It just didn’t seem worth it and as a mom I really felt the guilt of putting my daughter in that situation.
A week ago my daughter suggested we try again. She’s 18 now and I’m 38. We brought mase, pocket knives and made sure to leave early enough we wouldn’t be in the dark. Well it was definitely a hard hike!! I get why everyone was complimenting my daughter! This time we both could hardly make it up! Our muscles were not as strong as they once were but we made it to the top. 14 miles round trip. We decided to do a hike a week and get our concealed weapons permit. I hate that we have to but I’ve lived in fear for 8 years and stopped living.
Thanks again for everyone that shared, it’s nice to know my fear wasn’t me being crazy, I truly knew something was wrong and reading everyone else’s stories confirmed that for me. Thank you agai for all your shares.

I normally walk my dogs on nature trails, but one day about six months ago I decided to leave from our house and just walk the dogs around town for some quick exercise. I was walking for about 5 minutes - minding my own business - when somebody in a car threw trash at me and hit me in the back before speeding off. We only walk on trails now! Some people are just horrible, with zero empathy, and have no problem dehumanizing another person.
I feel so badly for Eliza and think she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I hope her husband and children will be able to find some peace and healing in the future, although this will affect them for the rest of their lives. So sad, and *so* terrifying. That man should never be released from prison, ever.

But people continue to vote in the same democrat leaders who implement these "progressive" crime bills, although there's absolutely nothing progressive of zero bail even in violent crimes, early release programs and being allowed out on electronic tag for multiple violent crime and what they describe as "care in the community" of sex offenders, violence and sexual assault perpetrators allowed to remain in the community as long as they attend psychiatry appointments and take medications regularly, it's such a joke. lWhen the violence and crime rate reaches a climax of not possibly being any worse than it already is under the same leadership as a result of their initiatives, then why on earth don't the people decide to vote for the complete opposite of what they voted for the last decade that's causing such terrible crime stats in the hope of change... For the better? When I was 14 I was cycling in an urban area. A car started to follow me. I started to take random turns to make sure that I wasn't being paranoid. I wasn't being paranoid. The car had slowed down and was literally following me. This was in South Africa where most houses are walked and or gated. I managed to find a house that fortuitously had no wall or gate and the garage door was open. I rode straight into a random person's garage and hid, hoping that whoever was in the car would assume that house was my home. The car slowed down to a halt and waited for a full 5 minutes, opposite that house! That was the longest 5 mins of my life. Eventually it drove away. I was so frightened that my legs felt like jelly and was terrified that the person/people in the car would find me as I cycled home. This was in broad daylight approximately 15:00. There IS NO 'safe time' for girls and women (of any age) to be alone, minding their own business and that is the tragedy.

There was a section of the street, about 20 feet long, with no street light. I usually just walked quickly through this dark area, but on this particular evening, a van passed me and stopped just ahead of me in the dark patch. I was immediately on my guard and slowed my pace. I heard the side door of the van slide open and someone inside the van barked like a dog. I immediately turned around and walked quickly in the opposite direction to a lighted area. The van drove off. I'm a very petite person, and I think they were trying to get my dog to react to a bark and drag me toward the van where I might have been pulled inside and disappeared. If they tell you that if you scream they will kill you! Scream! Better to be shot dead quickly than taken who knows where possibly tortured, dumped and never found. Plus, 9 times out of 10 you stuggling and screaming shows you aren’t an easy target and I seen several abductors/serial killers that said if the victim put up a fight they would leave because it wasn’t worth getting caught/bringing attention to the abduction.

I got called racial slurs and aggressive physical threats by several men from shouting and slowing down in vehicles so I'm not risking even stopping to smell the freaking flowers anymore. Its terrifying and I just can't. I miss it, but I'd have to PLAN to walk with a group of ppl just to be on the safe side. Taking a walk should not have to turn into a planned event. Just a few details that I learned from watching Annie Elise's (10 to Life) video about this case:
    1. The route she was running is in the same area as the university and where their women's cross country team runs. The CC team had filed several complaints with the campus police about a man following them/continuously driving by while they ran, and it scared them enough to file those complaints.
    2. He was seen on security cameras driving around that area for like 20 minutes or so before abducting Eliza. Almost like he was waiting for a woman (possibly a member of the CC team) to run by that he could abduct.
    3. Several women that live in the same apartment complex as his brother reported that he would offer them money in exchange for s*xual favors and was just all around creepy. I believe one woman said he tried to lure her into one of the apartments.
(Sorry if any of the specifics I mentioned above aren't completely accurate, but you can go watch the video on the channel "10 to Life" to see what I'm referring to.)
In addition to everything Christina talked about, these details lead me to believe that this was a random kidnapping, and Eliza wasn't specifically targeted.
Thank you for another great video Christina! I'm sorry to hear about your jogging experience, and I'm glad you're ok.

A young male teen has to be very disturbed to r8pe a man...anyone really, but that is very violent because he overpowered a man in an act of power and control.
People don't understand what sexual assault/r8pe does to a person. It takes a very long time to recover from trauma like that. The laws should reflect some understanding that a sexual assault survivor has been traumatized and we don't want more sexual assault victims out here. The laws should take these violent crimes, like r8pe, seriously.
If you keep repeating violent acts, you should not be released from prison and you should be in there for life. Either that or start bringing back the death penalty for these people who can't be rehabilitated or trusted in our society around the public.

Thank you so much for sharing this story. I’m from Memphis born and raised. Over the years, I’ve watched the city deteriorate. It’s just gotten worse and worse. Living there is so stressful. There is a constant worry of getting shot or robbed, involved in a hit and run, or worse. I moved November of last year because the stress was too much. It’s so scary. I am 100% convinced that he did this spontaneously. That’s how most of the crime goes down. I’m sure He just looked at her and said “Im gonna k*ll this b****.” And that was it. Nothing more. The crime is just that senseless back home. The worst part is there is no end in sight. I hate to think that there is no hope for my home, but I just don’t see how it can be fixed. They are giving $15,000 bonuses to MPD new recruits and no one wants it. Can’t blame anyone. I may not be there now but my family is and my friends are. I worry so much about them, especially now. I hate that Eliza had to encounter the evil that is in Memphis. I hate that that piece of garbage destroyed such a beautiful person. Please pray for Memphis y’all. So many people are hurting.

And I’m saying this as a former democrat... people who care more about the preparators of violent crimes over the victims of those violent crimes shouldn’t be running all these cities that have collapsed into crime ridden Hell holes because of their refusal to prosecute these violent thugs they just keep releasing back onto the streets to do it again over and over.

My degree was in Psychology, and Research Methods and Statistical Analysis (nerd, I know) 😂 Statistically speaking, coincidences are EXTREMELY common lol. I watched a show recently and the detective said “there’s no such thing as a coincidence”. WRONG 😭😂 There are lots of them. So many criminal cases have dead ends because things are just coincidental.
In this situation, I believe it was a random event. People like him are opportunistic 😔 If it was quiet, no one was around, and he was driving past her, he would have thought “hmm no one is around!” and took his chance.
The proof for me was the slides 🤔 A person doing a hit wouldn’t do so in an area likely to have cameras, and they’d wear shoes that won’t fall off 🤔 this was the sloppiest crime ever. It tells me it was unplanned. He saw an opportunity and he couldn’t control himself. Many serial killers are exactly the same.
