I went to college with Jelani and some of my good friends were in the Speech Path (CSD) major with him. He was SO smart and they always had great things to say about him. As a mom that loss of a son murdered by his so-called friends and getting a call from police saying they found my son lifeless, I feel for Jelani’s mom. My heart goes out to her and Jelani’s family. Jelani’s death is not only a loss to his family, but also to the world. He was going to be such an asset to the world. RIP JELANI❤️

Jelani's mother's pain almost brought me to tears. It's so heartbreaking
I still get choked up recalling her interview with a CNN reporter. I know the grief of losing a son. I don’t have the pain of losing him this way though and not even being given the time of day by those who hold my child’s identity in their hands. She should have everyone working FOR her.
I have watched a lot of true crime shows and often there is some detective who works so hard to resolve the case for the family, who feels great compassion for the parents or other close kin. Sadly, not in this case. The poor mama.

The fact he was going to give his bone marrow to his dad is just that much more heart wrenching. So now his dad might die because Jelani is no longer here and there's no way he did this to himself.

I know. I find it a strange coincidence that he was donating an organ and when he was found they said his organs were missing/ liquified. They said he had no eyeballs, his jaw sawed off and other organs liquified? Or were they really liquified? Someone really wanted him dead and it sounds like they wanted to make an example out of him in his death through his organs.
His father just passed away last week or the week before. So sad 💔
I just really appreciate that when you tell us these “stories” (that doesn’t seem like the right term, but cases doesn’t either) you make sure to tell us about the person, their family, who they are. They aren’t just a case or a story, these are people.

It is never far from my mind that Christian survived the most unforgivable and murderous abuse that could be heaped upon an innocent child, grew into an angry and despondent teen lashing out at every opportunity, only to be embraced by a Holy Spirit that transformed her into this spectacular empath she is today.. It’s like the cops just don’t get that parents know their babies. If someone behaves a certain way their whole lives, then something changes overnight, a parents concern is 100% valid. Jelani was smart, kind, focused, and a mamas boy. Suddenly he misses classes, doesn’t contact his mama, and no one has seen him. Yeah the cops need to stop making assumptions about young people and college/uni students, or just people in general.
The cops don’t care. Period.

As an autistic woman with autistic kids, it is so heartbreaking that this man who clearly had a passion for helping people was taken away too soon. People like him are needed in the world. @@mariamcguire8941 It has to be living. There’s no way any kind of transplant could happen from a decomposing body, anyway. But the marrow is for blood-type cancers. It has to be living cells to create new living cells. The host’s bodies cells are killed off with strong chemotherapy right before the transplant, then the donor cells are given and grow.

This is crazy .. why would he skip a meeting with professor, leave school ,go to weed dispensary!!!! This young man was becoming a doctor, very responsible. I believe someone threatened his family, that's the only way I see him willing to go an hour away and whomever was in his vehicle when he went to dispensary bc he parked so far from door, as well as looked right into camera took off his mask, he was in trouble then I think..... car found an hour north from his school, home. family says he's never ever been to there.

I don't think somebody's contribution to society/looks/ intelligence makes their death any more or less tragic, but his mom must be proud that she raised someone who accomplished so much in the time he had on this Earth

I read Jelani's autopsy report & I literally couldn't eat anything else for the remainder of the day. Satan himself did this to Jelani. We must continue praying for his family because if this situation impacted us as strangers to Jelani, I can only imagine what his family is going through.

I was my brothers bone marrow donor, it’s such a big and painful process just to get to the day they actually take your bone marrow. There’s no way possible someone would go through all that knowing they were going to end their life. No way

Losing a child is the worst thing that can happen to a person. But to have your child go missing, then a body found, and no one care enough to determine whose child this is in any sort of expedient manner, and then to be so callously be told… I’m so sorry, ma’am. I've had several family members attend ISU, and my little brother is attending next year. My MIL was a professor there, and it's an outstanding school. He sounds like an amazing young man, with so much life ahead of him, and so much good to bring to this world.
I hope they get this case solved, and not brush it under like they do so many deaths in this area. His family deserves answers.
Jelani Day was found with his body mutilated. His head and face scalped, his front teeth missing, genitals missing, and most of his organs. You can tell he was a family man. He would not have left his father hanging like that on purpose. And just from the fact that he was naked tells us that whoever did this didn’t want him to be identified through clothing. If he did harm himself (which I do not believe at all) , he would want his family to atleast have closure so why would he drop his wallet off at a different location and hide his car in a wooded area. He wouldn’t want his mother to go through all of this agony wondering what happened to him.

Why did he park his car all the way across the parking lot, when there were no other cars in the lot? It appears he PURPOSELY looked up at the camera. Is this some place he went on a regular basis? If so, why the 'appearance' of discomfort? Was there someone in his car when he went into the dispensary?
We don’t know if someone was threatening him or his family to get something for them and when he said i’ve done this once never again they didn’t kill him. Everything we know about him he was a exceptional young man with a bright future

Why did police ask his mum was he depressed about his masters ! Who told them that and why cause the mum said he was good so u can make what u wanna make of that i think all answers lay in that campus .

The world really lost an amazing, decent young man. This is heartbreaking. His mother had so much to be proud of (all of her kids) I can't imagine her grief. He sounded so amazing. Heartbreaking that Christina’s Gabby Petito videos can get the viewership of 500-700k views, but this video can’t even reach over 200k. I wish people took a vested interest in making sure Jelani’s family receives justice and answers, just as much as Gabby’s family.
Anyone who is familiar with Illinois - where his body was located - is that known to be a racist and segregated part of town? To me, given how Jelani’s body was horrifically discovered, it makes me wonder if he stumbled upon some white supremacy vigilantes who literally mutilated him, or if someone set him up to viciously be attacked. Was someone trying to send a message? Was this a case of pure jealousy because Jelani was the entire package and then some? To me, the individual(s) who murdered him, had a ton of rage and distain for him. This seems really personal. The horrific way he was murdered… just isn’t… normal, and it’s purely demonic and evil.
Praying the person or individuals responsible for his murder, spend the rest of their lives in prison. I pray his family gets the justice and answers they deserve. I pray Jelani is resting peacefully. 🕊✨ And I pray that The Lord is wrapping his family in a blanket of healing, love, and light.

Oh my heart. His poor momma! I can't imagine her pain. I've never lost a child but a very close friend of mine was murdered several years ago and i can still hear her moms cries and see her shattered heart. This brought back a rush of those memories.... Sending immense amounts of love to Jelanis mom, family and friends. May they get justice for their precious loved one.
