"You Didn't Know" is such a powerful number, really calling out Seraphin and the Exorcist's way of thinking. I especially love when Charlie and Emily sang the refrain of "Hell Is Forever." With new lyrics that fit their point. That part went so hard.

They were a mob/mafia family in life, so it’s likely that the spider theme is in reference to their “web of crime”, as it were. I’m guessing that Molly was protected from the uglier side of things, so she didn’t have to do any actual mob business, which is why she’s in Heaven, while her brothers and father are in Hell.

4:17 She looks like Angel Dust, because that’s actually his twin sister, Molly! I was super excited to see her cameo in the background, since it confirmed that she actually was in Heaven, rather than in Hell with the rest of her family. (It made me sad that Angel has been separated from his sister this whole time, though. 😢)
I hope we actually get to meet her at some point (probably in season 2), along with the rest of Angel’s family in Hell (his older brother, Arakniss, and their father, Henroin).
Angel’s mother is probably in Heaven, too, but there’s no concept art out for her, so I don’t know what to look for, to try and spot her, other than more spider attributes. 😅

I think the first song "Welcome to Heaven" is almost intended to be kinda forgettable. The fact it's the shortest song as well as intended to be the introduction to Heaven, something that's supposed to be this great place, but we learn isn't exactly what it's cracked out to be considering they don't actually know what qualifies a soul to go there. A sorta megachurch gospel-pop song flash in the pan and it's done makes perfect sense for an introduction.

I really feel like the entire atmosphere and power of heaven is based on lies:
Not only they have no ideas how exactly souls arrive at heaven's doors in the first place, they also made hell's citizens believe that they are a massive and unkillable army.
That's why lute wanted to immediately go purge all of hell after an angel was killed by carmilla.

Concerning the question of alleged uprisings; I have two theories. One the threat of uprising was originally caused by Lilith. Lucifer has resigned to his fate. While Lilith wants revenge against Heaven. This difference in philosophy is what lead to their breakup. Yes, I know she has only been absent at all this point for "seven years" (interesting Vizzie would choose *that* length of time). But I think she could be preparing an all out assault. That the previous "uprisings" were just "training raids". The second (and possibly more likely) theory: Adam has been feeding Sera a line about "uprisings" for an excuse to set up the purges. The reason? Lilith. The Big D|¢k is using the purges as a smokescreen so he can hunt down his ex-wife. The one who *dumped* him.

I would love to have seen a bit of dialogue between Vaggie and Lute during the hotel room confrontation after Lute said
"Their love is vile and blasphemous."
Vaggie: At least SHE did not betray me.
    Lute: I betrayed YOU?
Vaggie: You were my FRIEND. You never gave me a chance to explain.
This would help solidify the personal conflict between them, and set up possible reconciliation. They're two sides of the same coin. One has "seen the light," and the other is still in the dark. If Vaggie was one of the top executioner angels, then you know she and Lute agreed (at one time) that the souls in hell are ALL beyond redemption. They likely were colleagues/friends. This informs the brutal reaction Lute had to Vaggie for sparing the demon. Absolute horror/disgust that someone you like/admire, someone you trust, has just "betrayed" you. Vaggie is the reformed badass, Lute is the unrepentant badass. Nice twist that the former is stuck in hell, while the latter is free in heaven. Vaggie is clear-eyed and free of delusion, and Lute is a prisoner of prejudice and her own myopic views. Can't wait to see what happens with these characters!

Apparently back in 2019 viv released a picture of a potential Hazbin character named Roo, As in the Root of All Evil. I’m thinking this is Eve after she ate the apple… and another reason Adam is so against Hell and Lucifer is that Lucifer and Lilith (Adams first wife) got together, and corrupted Eve (his second wife). There has been no confirmation in this show yet that Adam ate the apple, so he may be in heaven because he didn’t, or because he is lying about not eating it (which considering his bloodlust for killing human souls in hell, and how blood thirsty and crude Lute is my guess)

Don't worry about the Vaggie reveal. It shows more about Adam and Lute than it does Charlie, Vaggie, or their relationship. Adam doesn't know Charlie and can't conceive that Charlie would forgive Vaggie. Meanwhile, Charlie is going to forgive Vaggie basically immediately. It's just who she is.
Also, we get the criteria for how someone falls: *Questioning.*
Lucifer questioned Heaven and fell. Vaggie questioned the extermination in the form of not killing a childlike demon and fell. Sera says that if Emily *starts to question* she'll end up fallen. Heaven doesn't like questions and falling isn't a natural state that happens on its own. It's something Heaven *does*.

@@JH24821 Indeed... as i imagine before Alastor should say at the hotel and at the Overlord meeting: ""If we don't stick together, they will hunt us down, one by one, until there is no one left" - same goes for Heaven... and it starts with "Sorry"... just like Charlie said. Forgivness is a power that comes from within..specially if someone doesn't earned it. That's the power of mercy.

The issue with Lute is she is righteous. I don't know how many righteous people who have met or dealt with but they don't typically see their own wrongs and they are not forgiving or flexible people. They are the kind of person who will say "well that person had it coming" when they hear something terrible has happened to someone. Someone can screw up, but once that is done someone like Lute will see them as unworthy. That is why she cut off Vaggie's wings after she let 1 sinner go. Once the person as done the single slight it is over there is no redeeming in her eyes and they deserve what ever comes to them after that.
If she was to fall, because of her overly righteous nature it would rock her world to its core.

When Emily asked “Yeah, why ISN’T he here?” something kind of clicked. Can a demon ascend to Heaven if someone else owns their soul? There’s a lot of stuff that’s kind of coming together through the season in my mind as possible foreshadowing and things that will have consequences later.
I think Lute’s “their love is vile and blasphemous” comment is in reference to theirs being a demon/angel romance and I think if the “Adam descends as a sinner” theory turns out correct and if a romantic undertone to their relationship has merit, it points to a kind of interesting struggle but I gotta imagine there’d also be a nice existential crisis about her function overriding the free will she doesn’t get as an angel (Exorcist vs Loyalty to Adam). Idk if being killed with the Heaven ray is supposed to be equivalent to angelic weaponry because if the angelic ray has the same permadeath effect, then that does give Adam the same possibility to descend as Pentious ascending imo. In that regard “That’s it!” “Kill everyone?” kind of feels like it’s a hint to sinners having to die to ascend. Literally kill everyone actually IS it.
Alastor’s deal with Vaggie about her never asking him to involve himself with television is much less benign when we all remember one of the overlords that’ll be playing a bigger role in season 2 is Vox. Alastor’s interests are more coincidently aligned with Charlie’s. There’s a question to be had about the extent of the deal and if Vaggie is even able to communicate anything that would be refused. I mean, she persuaded Alastor into offering the deal so idk, maybe the deal keeps her from having the chance to do that much.
Alastor’s ask for one favor here she hurts no one at a time of his choosing is so easily exploitable but y would have to e for something MASSIVE for him to cash in on. It’d have to be for something he’s extremely desperate for or he’s just waiting for a time where she’s so powerful she could follow through on literally ANYTHING. I’ve seen it put out there that it’d be to take his place in whatever deal he’s made which is interesting.
If Alastor and Lilith’s disappearances are related, I kind of wonder if that’s the move she pulled on him. Somehow she tricked him into swapping places with her in another deal, whatever deal was ended with Adam’s death was able to then be made.
I feel like aside from being a petty bitch who needs to be the prettiest in the room, if he has a deal with Lilith, it might have to do with Lucifer and amplifies that hate he has. I’m wondering if it might be something about wanting to go beyond just being a sinner in hell since a human soul does have its limits and if I’m not mistaken, even the most powerful Overlords can’t hold a candle to the power of hell born demon nobility. Not to mention as a human soul, he’s confined to just the pride ring of hell. Maybe his deal is in pursuit of basically becoming “hell born” essentially.
But back to the soul ownership being something that might be something that actively prevents someone from ascending… it makes me wonder how many sinners have locked themselves out of it. An Overlord gains power by owning souls and Carmella says the number is in the millions.

I think the fact that Angel dust wassnt rising to heaven after doing good is why she said "we find no evidence that souls can be redeemed" . since they dont know what gets them into heaven (only knowing WHEN souls arrive) they have no active controll over who gets into heaven. If a soul would be redeemed and rise to heaven, then it would be proof that is is possible.
Funnily enough many mentioned the point that the reason why angel dust probably cant rise to heaven could be because his soul is bound by the contract with Val, which in hindsight made him the worst possible example to choose to show if it is possible.

*inhale* SO I was thinking about how in the trailer when he says "it's about time I show everyone why I'm really here" I was disappointed because that felt like a line he'd say when his big plan was revealed, but it was just in response to him eating some side characters which was underwhelming to me until I kind of realized; it felt like, while he did immediately hate lucifer, he was provoking him on purpose for a different reason. Seeing the dad thing was out of pocket for him and then his talk with mimzy felt more like he did care about the hotel, but how true is that? He goes inside and sees the scene between Charlie and lucifer reconciling and he seems almost proud, content. We also learn he's chained to someone and we don't know who exactly but the concensus of the fandom thinks Lilith.
Lilith has been an enigma. We know she was a dreamer and lucifer lost his spark over time, so much that he's just given up on sinners altogether. Hates them. He's complacent, something Lilith rejects and so does Charlie. I presume Alastors hatred for Lucifer sparks from that.
Adam was the one to initiated the extermination. Sera said she wouldn't have agreed if it made it so heaven was in danger so it's Adam who had the agenda. Given his character it's likely bitterness. He hates Lilith for ditching him like he hates the girl for wanting the drummer and not him. He hates that Lilith convinced Eve and he wants sinners to suffer to entertain him, likely to get back at Lilith because she was making it so Hell was thriving. I think Lilith made a deal with Alastor to protect Charlie's dream in exchange for likely his own safety/stability in hell. Who knows yet. It's why he does not BELIEVE in the hotel but does EVERYTHING to ensure it stays running and Charlie doesn't lose her spark. He fought with Lucifer to provoke him into helping Charlie. It worked. She got the interview. I want to see how he responds to the new information.

Eh, Sera isn't unreasonable to worry, Velvette basicaly immediately wanted to declare war the moment she learnt angels can be killed. Admittedly, part of that animosity is probably fuelled by the yearly incursions. Those definitely didn't help the situation, but still Heaven isn't wrong to worry, they're neighbours to a town full of cannibals and psychos and it was getting more and more overpopulated, it's just that there's way better ways to solve that than what the Exorcists are doing.
With Charlie's method they not only get rid of people from Hell, but also bolster Heaven at the same time and give people hope and something to work for, thus reducing the chance they'll join a rebel group. It's definitely the better solution to the problem, though admittedly, the likes of Valentino should be under lock and key.

'Don't steal', so I guess a mother stealing food to feed her baby is worth torturing forever? Or a young child clutching a gift their mom agreed to get them and forgetting to put it on the belt to be paid for, and no one notices? (True story)
'Stick it to the man' (Is that a friggin' 'School of Rock' reference Alex?!) Isn't God himself also 'The Man'? And yeah, I have seen *so* many cases where church-goers talked back to a pastor for judging people for doing something they think is wrong or preaching hate and exclusion (sarcasm). After a few more tries of trying to figure something out she'd be given a final warning. So rather then be cast out/down, she'd leave willingly.
Seeing that she can't figure something out within heaven she'd then go down to hell to help Charlie and to brainstorm with her to find a solution to get redeemed sinners into heaven. Her absence in heaven would be quickly noticed given what her role is and that she is a very public figure. She'd probably leave a note for Sera.
But that could put Emily in great danger. She just appearing in hell wouldn't be as bad, it's where in hell. She could end up in the hands of some very bad demons that wouldn't be kind to her.
So she should do everything she can to appear as close to the hotel as possible with the ideal place to appear within the hotel.

The thing I see a lot of people talking about is how the song "You didn't know" is supposed to be this big 'gotcha' to Heaven, and yeah in a way it is certainly, but it does not actually resolve the issue at hand but merely points out that the angels aren't as all-knowing as they pretend to be.
The fact, however, is that while the angels don't know why or how souls get to Heaven or go to Hell... they also aren't the ones doing the choosing either. As Sera says, they know when a soul gets to Heaven. Now this suggests that there is in fact some requirements hard coded into creation, and regardless of the angel's ignorance of how it works it still works anyways. We humans don't understand even a fraction of the universe or how it works, and even the things we do "know" are tenuous at best... that doesn't mean that there are no rules at all, and it certainly doesn't mean that the laws of the universe are arbitrary
Souls come to Heaven or Hell, and while the exact requirements aren't known there is a very real and definite pattern as to who goes where. As far as we know there are no *apists in Heaven, no arsonists, no kidnappers, no serial killers, none of that (this could change of course if we are shown otherwise, but for now it's safe to assume), while Hell is very much the opposite in that even the likable characters that we're supposed to cheer for were not and are not good people. Angel Dust was a mobster and a slut who probably killed innocent people, Husker was probably a gambler who likely destroyed himself and maybe his family with his habit, Serpentious was apparently a full on Victorian Supervillain (awesome), Alastor is a serial killer and cannibal, and Nifty... you don't wanna know what her deal was~ The point being that the only reason we're rooting for these characters is because they're Main Characters and we're shown sympathetic traits, yet all of them unambiguously did things that would certainly earn them damnation.
Trying to point at Angel Dust and say "See?! SEE?! He did all the things on that tiny list Adam pulled out of his ass, yet why isn't he in Heaven?!" is such a stupid argument, because it's literally the 'Deathbed Repentance" idea. A single good day is not enough to wipe the slate clean of a lifetime of debauchery and wickedness, so this idea that Angel Dust showing improvement yet not getting in doesn't make any sense. Charlie would need a LOT more compiled evidence to actually have any kind of point, because I for example could spend 30 years killing people and all kinds of other stuff, but if I suddenly throw a few pennies into a starving homeless persons hat that doesn't exempt me from any of my past behavior. And even if I did legitimately want to turn my ways around... if we're talking about a fair system, wouldn't it take about as long to repent as the time I spent doing wrong? If Angel Dust lived until he was like 30 (don't know his actual age when he died), and 15 of that was spent being a mobster and doing bad things, then it should take at least 15 years of living clean and good in order to wipe that taint from his soul. And this is just a simplistic look at this concept.
To make a long rant even longer, while this song is definitely good, the underlying concept it's trying to push is poorly thought out on it's face. Charlie isn't making the point she thinks she is, because she's ignoring the reality that there is _something_ that determines whether souls go to Heaven or Hell and she's trying to act like it's all just shades of grey and arbitrary when nothing about the situation proves that at all and in fact kind of proves the opposite. The Angels not knowing what gets people into Heaven or Hell proves that they weren't actually the ones that built Creation, but are in fact nothing more than stewards running a system they don't actually have any real understanding of. And if that's the case... then they couldn't fix the system even if they wanted to, and how is trying to fix the rules of Creation any different than us wanting to change the laws of Nature just because we don't like them?

i agree with a lot of this and actually do hope they get into the actual atonement part of the sinners redemption, as so far all they've done is just become friendlier people which isn't really enough.
but if the show really is arguing that angel dust and pals are ready for heaven as-is then i just cant stay on board cuz thats a bit silly.
IMHO it should have been made more clear that the point of charlie's argument is that angel dust has been making progress and is thus (along with other sinners) capable of redemption, instead of saying "he checked off the list, let him in"

    • @DelightfullyMADD
      @DelightfullyMADD Před 6 měsíci +1

@@lazulazu2467 Yeah, if that had been Charlie's argument, simply saying "Hey look, Angel Dust _is_ improving! If we give him time and let him seek redemption, maybe we'll find that he'll ascend once whatever standards or requirements are met!"
But instead her argument was "Angel Dust is behaving himself for this one day, so he should be in Heaven because he met the requirements (that Adam just pulled out of his ass), right?!"
Now if I were personally writing this series, my big reveal would probably be something along the lines of revealing that Hell is in fact _not_ meant to be forever, but rather a true last chance for sinners to change their ways, the Last Ultimate Temptation... but the vast majority of them just opt instead to give up and give in to their sinful natures and continue to engage in the things that got them sent down in the first place. Which of course only furthers the amount of time a soul would need to finally find redemption. Think of Sin as a stain on one's soul, a stain that grows deeper and darker the more one indulges. If you take the time to work at it that stain can be slowly washed away, but the longer you sin the longer that takes. This would also still make the exterminations a terrible thing because that reveal would essentially show that the exterminations are robbing those souls of any chance to redeem themselves.

But I think that's the point. That song was all about how "great" heaven was, which it's clearly not, so it kinda makes sense that that song isn't necessary because it isn't true

@@amidoshi1909 Fuck, good point. Like I said, I wouldn’t have called it unnecessary even before but I could see an argument being made saying ‘eh it felt like filler/do a song because we *gotta* have a song’ but I mean, your right, it kinda proves its point by its existence. FUCK. Hate this show. 💖 so good

I would say he isn't in heaven because he isn't 'virtuous'.
You can still be a good person, and angel is changing into a good person, and still not be worthy sadly.
In his life he most likely exhibited a LOT of the seven sins and never repented of them and fell into hell.
On top of that wasn't his family a Mafia family in life? He very well may have MURDERED a lot of people... Ignoring the 10 commandments [one of them saying 'no murder']
We look to the 7 virtues
Has Angel portrayed any of these?

I think they're going through the sin vs moral theme. Who goes to hell? Sinners. Who doesn't? Believers. However, not every sinner is evil...for one, Lute mentioned Charlie and Vaggie have a blasphemous relationship, being gay is sinful to their eyes but none of them is evil or revelious. Angel is gay, but he's proved he has a good heart. Alastor is a killer and a psycho. Adam is a jerk but didn't sin...see where I'm going? Lucifer himself isn't evil, he just spoke up and questioned and was Fallen. Heaven isn't for the good and Hell isn't for the evil. That's why they call then Sinners and not Mortals or such.

Wouldn’t Angel have to die again for his soul to be even considered to be eligible for heaven?

Adam is in heaven becouse he was first human and went there by default as hell was not esabilished yet and it would look bad if first human was already rotten to the core. Adam for eating that forbbiden apple is the first sinner so he will end up in hell for sure along with Lute. My guess is that Vaggie will fight Lute and have her payback for ripped wings and eye. Too bad Adam has no idea that Alastor is in there, big mistake...and since Lucifer once again become close to daughter he would be involved too. Maybe in final episodes we will see Lilith.

I have a theory: it looks like this story is kinda same with Moses, where Egyptians slaves the Hebrews because Hebrews getting outnumbered Egyptians.
