Looks like the magnet is too weak :/ ...maybe you should return it and try another magnet strip

I'd like to mount this holder horizontally on the bottom of a hanging cabinet.
You think the adhesive AND the magnets would play along, also for bigger knives?

Sounds like you’d be placing the magnetic bar upside down? I don’t think the knives will hold.
