I’m a former Ford and Jeep tech (dealer had licenses to sell both) Just put 20k on my 19’ and formerly owned a 97 4.0 5 speed 4x4. I’ve been in a couple mud holes, stop backup drive foreword and it moved like it was on dry land. Ice and snow are no issue for it until the laws of physics take over. At the price point there isn’t anything better (now what you think I said is this is the best 4x4 on the planet but what I said is I’m sure there are trucks as capable as the Ranger but none are a step better.)

Just broke 1000 miles on my new 2020 SXT FX4. Ive had several rangers and still own a '99 5 speed manual. Im in love with it. Im not big into the 4 wheeling off road stuff but I spend a lot of time doing so due to hunting, fishing, etc. With the 0mm offset, did you have to mod anything(crash bars, etc) other than a lift, will the 17x9 0mm offset work on my factory setup without any other modifications? I do plan on atleast a 2" leveling in the front.

Do you think 35’s are worth it to obtain ground clearance for off road on the Ranger?
Mines stock and I bashed in the front diff bracket that sticks down about 2 inches from the the skid plate... really bad.
    ROCKY roads here in AZ.
Wondering if your setup vs a 6 inch lift with 35’s for a go anywhere hunting truck would work good or is that pushing the vehicle to far with 35’s and your setup would be better/Safer. High center of gravity etc.
    Great looking truck!
“After taking the misses hunting and putting the skids to work and making her spot me, worked for me to get the go ahead to lift and put on some tires LoL “FX4”
Also, a 6 inch to fit 35s. Would require that cross member going across underneath. To me that offsets the 6 inches in a way to allow bigger tires canceling the lift and tires as if 3.5 and 33’s would be better/same height because of that?

Cool truck I'am impressed with the Ranger doing some research on off road capability mid sized trucks thanks for the video

You wouldn’t happen to know what the measurements are at your lowest point is upfront would you?
Or perhaps I should ask how many inches gained over the stock 8.9 inches clearance? Debating 3.5 with 33’s or 4-6 inch with 35’s purely for ground clearance and not beauty

The kicker is the vehicle in front filming is a lime green 2009 Prius.

Looks like fun; I’m torn between the Ranger & Gladiator. Afraid the Jeep will be a money pit with all the aftermarket accessories.

      So was I!!!
I ended up buying the Ranger FX4. The off-road numbers are better than the Gladiator and plus of minus 4 inches to the Unlimited.
I’ve been wanting a Jeep my whole life, but now this Ranger FX4 is so impressive I’m set. I’ve been down Jeep Trails, quad trails, the works. I’ve tried intentionally burying it in sand intentionally by power break, steep steep stupid inclines, balancing it on two wheels, I’ve tried everything to get it stuck.
It’s so capable I’ve yet to even think about mods until it shows me I need them and I just can’t find anything yet to tell me I do. Blows my mind.
AND, it has so much pep compared to my wife’s 17 F150 4x4, V8. She said when it comes to off-road she’s rather be in the Ranger because it feels that much better off road.
I’m getting 22-24 mpg on average. It’s got easy to do drain plugs in the differentials to drain and fill, 80w-90. Cost me 25 bucks to do so no need to pop covers off for maintenance. The transfer case took me 15 minutes to do, just so much room under there compared to my wife’s huge F150.
I’m 6ft6 and went to go buy a TRD PRO and I’m so thankful I didn’t fit in the Tacoma. Got inside a Ranger and it had better options to me then the Tacoma, better motor, comfort, and best of all my wife and kids like it better than the Gladiator, Tacoma, and her F150. It’s a beast, it’s a mule, it’s a Ford. I am very very happy. 🇺🇸

The Ranger with the FX4 Off Road option is a great choice. I really like the look of the trucks. Thanks for the informative reply definitely helps others trying to decide

I hear ya, but the price difference made it a no brainer. In November 2019 they were offering INSANE black friday incentives and I got a 2019 super crew FX4 XLT for ~$26.5K USD off the lot after incentives and rebates. I still can't believe how little I paid for it. I was able to add a camper shell, wheels, tires, and extended warranty and still come in way cheaper than a gladiator.
