Love this! No bullshit music…just sounds of these trucks wheelin!
I have a ZR2 now but I miss my 2019 Ranger. That was a very capable truck with excellent gas mileage.
Isn't colourado Zr2 best of all time
Rangers have historically been great off road. Thats why most class 7 race trucks down in Baja are Rangers.
Toyotas are good too, I have nothing against them, except how uncomfortable they are inside, good trucks though.
Love the videos! Please keep them coming!!! Thanks for making them, I know it’s a lot of work and hassle, but they give many people a great deal of enjoyment.
Thank you for the awesome feedback. We enjoy making these videos and seeing all the different models off road. More videos to come as the trails get harder and harder.
Just picked up a 22 Ranger XLT FX4 appreciate the videos. I drive this thing on mine sites regularly and it hasn’t let me down so far.
Looks like those who know momentum is your friend didn't have much trouble with any of the obstacles. Those who wanted to stop all the time made the trail much harder on themselves and their vehicles.
I'd say the exact opposite. Slamming the truck through those moguls is a lot harder on it than crawling through. This video should be titled "How NOT to drive"
I would say it’s peoples choice of either sending it or crawling it. Sending it definitely making it much more prone to trail damage.
You can’t crawl loose material lol. It’s not just crawl or send. There’s a middle ground of carrying momentum without putting the truck in the air.
Watching that Ranger go through the deep water gave me anxiety for him, with that alternator location. 💯
I think that’s why he was flyin thru the water🤣
I like the look of the Ranger with the rack on the back
Las dos son dignas, muy hermosas camionetas.
I have a 2020 Ranger with Icon coilovers, uppers and leaf pack. I can say the articulation and wheel travel now are insanely improved from stock form. Much more capable vehicle now 💯😎🤘
Those rangers are downright belligerent off road.
The Toyotas look much more graceful
@@dominica2765 right up until the last run where the little lady kicked the Taco's graceful ass! 😂
are those RCI sliders on the Tacoma 5 or 20 degree angled?
the blue ranger is exactly how i would set up a ranger if i had one. looks perfect
At the beginning, the red Ranger had gobs of traction but little control and articulation, while the silver Taco had great control and articulation but lacked the locker for traction. Great video, love seeing how these vehicles compare, and driver inputs.
Those were some cool rangers I am impressed
That blue Ranger needs a locking differential in the rear. But definitely a win for the Ranger
also another driver
@@josephbel7532 yes, that blue ranger driver wasn't very good.
Win for ranger??? U should watch it again
When it comes to lose gravel like that momentum is your friend and keeping your foot down is also advisable
It has a rear locker , all rangers have a locker , the driver just needs more experience
Nicely done. Looks fun. Both are pretty trucks and I am certain, capable..
Are you all planning on doing anything in March or April? I will be spending a few weeks driving around all of the NE states and am looking for some nice areas to go offroading.
Nice stuff. Love those Tacomas. They have better flex imo. Rangers did pretty good too.
Hey guys quick question do you guys air down ever? If not why not. I offroad in Colorado and we air down always and we drive over stuff like it's not there. I run a 3500 mega cab dodge with 37's and many mods and I always air down.
They do.
I'd be curious to see if my stock 2021 Ranger Sport 4x4 could tackle some of these trails. I'd be very wary of those deep-water situations, but I think it could handle some of the drier obstacles. It looks like fun no matter what.
The Rangers are very capable trucks with or without rear lockers. Some body protection and a better set of tires and these obstacles would be very fun for you. A little challenging but nothing you and your Ranger couldn't handle.
Rangers are just sending it
Love the Ranger!❤👍
What's their tire pressure at? 4:46 and 5:13 seems like they running road tire pressure.
Need to get a Colorado ZR2 in the mix
Odd thing for me to take away from this video, but that Blue Ranger looked great, wasn't really considering a blue one until now.
100% RANGER
Ranger.
Are these trucks using the off road systems? Rear lockers (or both)? Crawl control or Multi Terrain Select? They all seem to be working hard. There are a few older trucks that don't have these systems, maybe the newer ones only use the basics to be fair?
One will make it to 100k miles the other will make it to 200k+ miles…and actually holds its value.
Ez choice.
Look at all the problems and unhappy people with new toyota tundra that is supposed to be great toyoya quality.
Looks like 3d printed junk too. Slowyotas
Well you gotta keep in mind it won’t change for another 20 years so the reliability eventually catches up right lol
@@albinogator6221 Since when are Toyotas suppose to be fast? lol.
I love both trucks, but I have to say the Ranger has the upper hand, at least to me. The engine on the Ranger is awesome, and is way more comfortable. Most of the downfalls of the Ranger can be solved by replacing suspension and clearing a bit the approach and departure angles. Throw in a couple of 35s and you have a killer truck... I've been thinking about getting the AGPs widebody kit and maybe add a snorkel.
Cool vid, can definitely see the Ranger’s lsd kicks in a bit quicker and more aggressively at less slip than the Taco’s but the Taco seems to carry momentum better (possibly just driver though). Would have been nice to see a ZR2 in this group to compare.
I’ve had a Tacoma and Ranger. Currently own the ZR2, which I think has the best 4WD out of the three. I will say I miss the mpg of the Ranger!
Tacoma TRD Sport only has electronic limited slip, basically applies brake power to the wheel slipping, but the FX4 Ranger has a true mechanical locker fully locking both rear wheels together. Colorado zr2 has both a front and rear mechanical locker that fully lock all 4 wheels. No one else currently offers that but jeep & the ram power wagon.
Look at Tacoma flexing in slow speed, just launching stones lols
Ranger is more capable in my opinion.
Guy driving the blue ranger keep working on the driver mod.
The Colorado ZR2 still beats both the Ranger and Tacoma hands down!! 👊👍
@@stevenpeterson7234 no doubt
The ranger's suspension is too stiff/rigid for off road use.
Would love to put my Ranger up against the big hitters

Tc works really well on these new trucks even tho it looks awkward af.
Love the channel. How do get so many people with brand new trucks to hit these trails?
The dealers will let you drive a new truck off the lot with 0 $ down 😂
@@desertdudeoverland shit if you can find a truck. Places around me dont have any inventory.
@@openyourcoconut4774 0$ down and 0% interest for 80 months. It’s hard not to help empty the lots with that kind of deal.
@@desertdudeoverland damn where you live? Bout to trade in my 2017 f150 with 65k miles for what i paid for it, problem is all the dealers around me have no trucks and all say it will be a 3-5 month wait.
@@openyourcoconut4774 all over the country it’s been the same. The problem is the markup on all trucks is at least 10,000$
Ive done some stupid shit with the bronco too with a locking diff it goes way more than the taco if it dont get high ceteref
The Rangers are built on the same chassis and drive train as the new Bronco. That should give you an idea of how capable it is off road.
Bronco is built from the Ranger platform, not the other way around but I get your point lol
no the bronco is built on the ranger chassis the ranger came first
Still waiting for the Ranger Sasquatch package!!!
Certainly the ford ranger looks much better..
La ranger definitivamente y eso que muchas de las tacoma estan modificadas la frontal
Las Fords no son tan durable como las Toyotas. Las Toyotas las usan en la guerra, me encantan las Rangers, pero las Tacomas van a duran mucho mas.
Ranger all day every day
in the shop?
@@auskip07 Ranger named most reliable mid-size truck in murica. Drinkin dat hateraid.
@@adamharris2674 not according to any known ranking system. Consumer reports or JD power.
@@auskip07 well Tacoma will be in the Junkyard then where it deserves
Only until it's time to resale.
Tacoma got better articulation but the ranger has better traction control.
No ranger aired down. Cmon fellas
Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 is a far more capable truck offroad. I've seen this all over the fire roads in Colorado. Other trucks cannot make it through a class 5 trail but the stock Taco can.
I wish I could fit behind the wheel of a Mid-size, I'm 7 feet tall and can only (barely) fit inside a Full-size.
These version of the ranger looks more agile than ots asian counterpart.
It’s crazy how much the frame flex’s on the Tacoma. You can clearly see it in the front bumper how it’s jamming into the body that’s crazy
It’s a Tacoma sport. Had it been a off road different story with the rear locker
Guy in the blue ranger probably wished he got the fx4 package
Id step up to a taco
Pro4x 😜
POV: you came to the comments after the orange Ranger went through the rocky puddle.
At this point, the maverick is going to undercut the ranger sales forreals.
Looks like about 65 psi lol 😆
The thing that scares me about the ranger is that it has a plastic oil pan. So if you'd like to go off-road and I would like to recommend to switch that out with a metal one.
Looks like Ranger had locker on but Taco was just atrac.
The ford ranger did better
That woman driver in the carrot color Ford is sitting so close to the windshield. Tell her to move back a bit 😂
taco for the win send it or get out the dam way
Ive done some stupid shit into the woods with my new sr5 last time my wife came with me she had motion sickness and threw up all over the trail
My Opinion. The Ranger did better
Switch drivers and repeat
Ranger ♥️👍🏽
4:52. A perfect example of how NOT to drive up a 4 wheel drive road.
I am constantly shocked, watching CZcams videos of people so called “off-roading” that have absolutely no idea how to drive the vehicle. And with ridiculous gadgets like Toyotas modern “crawl control” convincing people they can BUY a truck that will off road without the driver knowing a thing about driving off-road, it’s created a new generation of incompetent off raiders.
There are many things money just can’t buy.
Ford #1
Ford ranger 👍👍👍
Tacoma will probably kill it badly. Let's see.
That last guy in the Toyota getting put to shame by the little lady driving a Ranger? Really dude? Learn what you’re doing man.
But congrats to that little lady.
In the first vid.. the Ranger driver thinks he is in the highway...
The suspension on those rangers are so stiff. Look more like a show truck than an off-roader.
It’s a trade off. They can tow 7500lbs.
Ranger wins!
The Tacoma is way better. And will outlast a Ranger all day long for years
k
En el último off road le ganó el Ford ranger a la tacoma porque la tacoma es 2015
Ranger all day
The sport Tacoma doesn’t have a rear locker. Not apples to apples comparison.
Blue ranger didn’t have one either
Air down your tires 🙈
The trd sport don’t have rear lockers but still make it and with better articulation than the ranger
Tacoma looked like it had more flex and both front wheels seems to have power more than the ranger.
To bad the ranger wasn’t aired down but will smoke the taco in every way
Then what happened on that last run?
@@freedomisntfree_44 Except in reliability.
@@westcoastplinkin6559 the first and second gen taco are the reliable ones… these have way more crap going wrong than the ranger.
@@freedomisntfree_44 It's still the same truck, Toyota hasn't changed their tech. That is one of the biggest complaints many people have of the Tacoma, yet that is what makes them reliable. Either way, 1st and 2nd gen Tacoma is still a Tacoma and far more reliable than Ford Ranger. Tacoma is tried and tested.
Ranger
Both trucks will get you there. Some drivers are better than others. How do you Taco owners deal with that horrible seating position (Man sized people at least) and that pathetic engine/trans? Huge penalty to pay for that perceived reliability. Ranger recently named most reliable mid-size truck anyway. I bought a 2020 FX4 Ranger last year and got an Included 20yr 200K mile powertrain warranty.
You'll need that warranty. I owned and loved Fords for years; Broncos, F150, F350... I picked up a Focus ST3 and couldn't get rid of that hot garbage fast enough. Ford made me a Tacoma customer.
My buddy bought a Tacoma last march and all he talked about was how it’s so much more reliable than my wrangler JL supposedly. It lasted him about five months of commuting. He never towed a thing and never wheeled it yet the first three gears melted together on a flat road going 40. Costed him $5k to find someone to replace his transmission. The interior looks like the inside of an old economy jet. And the wind noise is unbearable the windows whistle and the engine is gutless. But he loves the thing because it’s a Toyota 🤷♂️ I’ll never understand it.
The 3rd gen Taco is supposed to be revved high for all its power. It’s a NA v6 tuned for economy but still able to pull 6800 lb. People don’t understand that it is perfectly happy in a high RPM range. And the reliability is real, not perceived. That Toyota resale value isn’t based on features or tech; its based on the fact that their trucks can go extremely high miles on only basic maintenance.
@@SanctumOfDreams Lemons exist, but the statistics don't lie. Every single year, Toyota ranks the highest in reliability studies. They have been dominating these reliability studies for a long time. It is very rare when a Toyota doesn't work. I've owned nothing but Toyota trucks and only one Ford truck (an F150), and guess which one has seen the shop the most.
Toyota has better flex, the ranger does not, too stiff.
That’s some of the worst driving I’ve ever seen
Driver....🤣
No Nissan Super Safari? :(
Toyota!!!!!!
Ranger is so narrow. Tiny inside. Horrible 2.3 EcoBroke engine. It's the last choice in this segment.
People that have em, love em. People that don't, are jealous. Funny how that works, huh?
@@DemsRdisguisedredcoats - No, because it doesn't work like that fortunately.
The Ranger is actually more spacious than the Taco and more comfortable. What makes the 2.3 Ecoboost horrible? The powertrain of the Ranger is more powerful than the Taco. Add a stage 2 Ford Performance tune that keeps the factory warranty and the Ranger eats Taco’s for breakfast all day, everyday. It also has greater payload and towing capacity than the Taco. There’s a reason why Ford trucks are #1 in North America. Toyota will have the same issues with the new Taco’s like they are having with the new Tundra’s. Reliability for Toyota has gone downhill.
'
oh no...
stop watch this video at 110...
not like both ford trucks
Can't believe that Toyota didn't brake in half, since they have never made a good truck frame ever. That's why Toyota had to buy back all those shitty trucks.
Never heard of Toyota buying back any trucks…when was this ?
That was due to a corrosion issue, not design.
@@bradleyjohnson3068 yeah. But I never heard of them buying the trucks back. Just replacing the frames
The frame issues were done by Dana Corp, Toyota dropped the ball on quality.
@@semiauto3148 frame rust problems. Never body rust problems like all other vehicles. I knew this before purchasing my 2003 Tacoma. Treated the frame like Mustie1, with bar and chain oil, 325,000+... No problems. I live in Wisconsin... plenty of salt and inclement weather here. Just had to mention that for the haters. They are out there.
These drivers are newbs. Dude in the white Taco towards the end of the video hitting his horn🙄. Dude bought all this aftermarket stuff, then probably goes on social media bragging about "wheelin" over the weekend. Smh
I wouldn’t trade Tacomas spare tire for the ranger not kidding !
I rather buy garbage over a Tacoma forget comparing it with ranger
Impossible to tell from this video. That was some really bad driving. The Toyotas have better suspension I look like the manger had more power
Both Weak Have Very Weak Suspension's
Toyota vs Ford. We all know who wins!! Tacos all the way!! Quality product
Quality 🤣🤣 lmao the interior fit finish is way worse than the garbage and you comparing it with ranger , anyway can't compare ford with garbage like toyota lol
@@hotrod7603 and which one always retains more of its value when the warranty is up? Toyota, of course.
@@whackityschmackitydo Would you rather have a better performing, equipped car for your money or just get a few bucks extra when you sell them? If you want to invest, invest in property / BTC, not cars
@@anoop4243 Retaining more value after the warranty is up has nothing to do with investments. It just means that Toyota spends far less money fixing their customers’ vehicles, which translates into lower priced warranties and higher vehicle value retention afterward because there’s a whole lot more life left after the warranty is up. To me, THAT is better performing. Who cares if you have the best numbers on paper if you have to go back to the dealer all the time for recalls and problems? Having said that, everything from everyone has kind of sucked the last couple of years. I am not interested in any new vehicle for the next 5 years at least. By then, my Tundra will only have 100k miles on it, which is barely even broken in.
@@whackityschmackitydo Well, for each his own. For me performance, driveability, features & comfort matter a lot, which most Toyota's skimp on / lack. I don't mind having a few recalls (hey, they are fixing any potential issues free of cost ( even the tundra has recalls)). I don't care if the other car is 5% more reliable, because it lacks many important features or is dull to drive. I keep my cars for ~ 10 yrs when I upgrade to a newer better vehicle.
At the end of the day I shouldn't feel bored when I drive from A to B, and Ford's are pretty good at ensuring that it doesn't happen. Also I maintain my cars well, and I've had zero issues with my Ford's.
Taco looks weak and outdated.
Toyota wins! Your lowest model without even a locker. 🤙
The depreciation on the ranger is at least double compared to a Toyota. Typical Ford.
But the comfort fun to drive us way more compare to a Turdota , Typical Boring garbage toyota
@@hotrod7603 You must already understand that two most used words by non-car people(many Yoda fanbois on YT) are 'depreciation' & 'reliability'. They hate hearing words like "fun", "comfort", "power", "features", "looks", etc, and abuse any innovative brand (not only Ford) that comes out with a better product in the name of reliability.
These Yoda fanboys are pretty unique people . They can afford a high priced featureless car, however, they have absolutely no money to maintain cars (bash every other carmaker, stating of increased maintenance costs than their car). Even though they say their vehicle will run for 500k miles, they'll sell it off way before that and boast about its resale value. They then get a new car, which is essentially an unchanged model from 10-15 yrs ago, for more price. It's hard to understand them.
Two different size trucks
Can the ranger be any uglier? Ugh
