Welding Certification Position 4G: Overhead Groove Weld
Vložit

- Groove welds can take the shape of all of the joint types. See the proper positioning for overhead groove welding, or welding certification position 4G. This video demonstrates an overhead groove weld, and the specific welding techniques and weld settings used are not necessarily the best ones for all applications. Follow the filler metal manufacturer’s specification sheet, which is the best tool to determine your starting welding parameters.

I gotta say you guys definitely have some of the best content. I stick weld for most of my career and every now and then have a MIG test I have to do. I always come back to look at your videos for the vertical and overhead test. I pass every time from brushing up by watching your videos. The angle of the gun etc. Spot on
I've been working on overhead open root MIG at school. been giving me fits. I finally got it with 19 volts/255 fph wire speed on the root / 21volts / 350 fph wire speed for fill and cap. we have to run stringers beads though but I still practice weaving on all my overhead and vertical though. u never know what your boss might prefer. u gotta b able to do both.
Damn. Nothing beats Millers! My #1 welders of choice, hands down!
This video was developed to illustrate a weld and the specific welding techniques and weld settings used are not necessarily the best for all applications. The Specification Sheet from the manufacturer of the filler metal you use is the best tool to determine starting welding parameters. We intentionally left the weld settings out of this video because following any local, state, or national codes or standards is the responsibility of the welding organization producing the weldment. Testing the weldment will ensure that the settings, technique, and overall procedure that you develop will meet the requirements of any applicable codes or standards.
Hi what is best setting for 4G groove test plate for gasless
Nice overhead GMAW 4G. You have skills
can you upload 6G position using same process? im on schedule for 6G test using the very same machine..thanks
ganda manuod sa kanila..galing
guys can asked what is the volts and wire speed of 4g grove from rooting to copping
thanks!
How much time do you let go before before you weld again. How much time do you let the metal cool down
Great video! What amps are you running off?
beautiful weld
What's your wire-speed/volt settings????
thats an amazing weld
por favor ma puedes explicar los parametros de 4g y 3g voltage y amperage de la mig
Nice video
thank you!
A lot of places will let you get away with a 3/8 ths weave at the most on flat and vertical. You have to for your root and hot pass on ceramic anyway, but usually not on overhead where a metal backing is needed for most. They (employers) especially on a test coupon, UT or X-ray weld only want stringers. There is just a higher chance of leaving junk in your weld if you weave. If its tied in right a weave is just as sound as stringers.
Excelent!!!! 💪😎
SMOOTH!
give your best take amongst these videos for weld settings and types of metal.other than that i respectfully appreciate the videos. Thanks
cảm ơn bạn về video rất tuyệt vời này, nhờ nó tôi đã học được rất nhiều về kỹ thuật hàn mig 4G
Why do all these videos on 4g & 3g mig use the weave technique? I'd like to see some using stringers cause in england weaving isnt allowed half the time!
root ตั้งค่า กระแสไฟเท่าไหร่
I love it
very good.
Ss 981/15 rode 4g how to welding
Thanks
Gracias
Keep in mind this video series was developed solely to illustrate a welding position and the specific welding techniques used are not necessarily the best for all applications. The 4G weld was deposited using the Gas-Shielded Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW-G) using 0.052 Hobart Excelarc 71. The mode of transfer is somewhere between spray and globular. The exact parameters used were from the Specification Sheet from the product to determine the settings, reference HobartBrothers site, ExcelArc71
hi, i only saw fcaw can u give also some vidoes or links of ur videos for smaw..thanks
Jojo Cabrera Use the following link to view our SMAW playlist: czcams.com/video/2LgX0FUO2aw/video.html Please let us know if you have any further questions.
What setting would you recommend for short arc and long arc. Currently in welding school. Trying to get it from burning through or glob together.
Hello! Thank you for contacting us. When it comes to MIG welding, it's important to avoid long arcing. To get started, we recommend checking the door chart on the machine for guidance.
This looks like a Titanium series hood. Thinking about buying one, but I've heard that it says in the manual not to use this hood for overhead welding. Why is it not recommended?
+Noah Scape Thanks for the question, Noah. Our helmets are not fiberglass, so there is a potential that a large piece of molten metal could get lodged on the helmet while welding in the overhead position and melt the shell or damage the lens. There are helmets intended for overhead welding, but they are either fiberglass or leather. Because we feature a grind mode, our helmets need to be approved for high-impact protection, which is not achievable with fiberglass or leather helmets at this point. Damage to the shell or the lens from overhead welding would not be covered under warranty.
+Noah Scape I use the titanium for everything, but gouging. Ive had the elite too and none of the digital lens last long if you gouge with them
Hilo macizo transferencia por pulso
why no stringer beads?
+daniel ainsworth The position of your electrode in both work and travel angles will vary depending on your particular application. In welding, many variables can change and still a sound weld can be deposited. In this video, and in all of the other position videos, the work angles were identified in order to show what angles were used to place the welds into the joint and deposit the proper weld size in the specific scenario in the video. Testing the weldment will ensure that the settings, technique, and overall procedure that you develop will meet the requirements of any applicable codes or standards. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
what's your settings?

how many amps
id be more concerned with voltage.
why the thumbs down? explanation please? I'm not certified but looks good to me.
Kleo 84 Miller haters
Naw its pretty justified if I say so myself.
Would *You* like to know the Volts and Wire Speed used here?
I'd like to know.
Happy wheel
Vertical no Bec seramica Raiz amostra.
Nobody has any 4GF vids. I guess only in Canada we do backing bar test welds.
anybody can do that with a Brand new welder machine
Metals are not lined up.
Came out clean wire speed must be at 400 lol nice weld
Thanks for your feedback! We appreciate it.
I am the greatest welder in the world. I use the 5 S under bead technique. No one is better than me. I am the king of all welding.
+Edgar Morbisol That's the attitude good welders should have. I like it, but I'm the best.
Lo siento, pero yo lo soy. :v
You are not the best,,you may be great..but really my instructor at Modesto tech,,is all that..former Navy seal 52 years of welding career under his belt. He is the best!!!! Get humble..ANTHONY..
U shouldn't weave so much and in the shipyard were I work they want stringer beads with two hot pass not weaving
To me it looks like this guy is welding way to hot but that's just me
