      Congrats. I will have a 3G and 4G test tomorrow. I've done a simple vertical test before and welded a good amount of dumpsters which included overhead but I'm really scare for this test. It's probably not like the dumpsters.

    @ranchroberts5976 Před 2 lety

    Basically every video I've seen is of welders pulling the puddle, but the way the gun is held differs. Some like this dude holds it so the wire is shooting the way he faces at maybe a 10/15 degree angle, but others hold it where the gun points at them at the sameb10/15 degree angle. And yet others hold it where it shoots towards them, but the angle is towards the bevel at yet againa 10/15 degreeangle. What I gather is that there isn't a clear way to hold the gun except for the angle and that it is done as it feels most comfortable. Accurate? Thanks in advance

    I always like to watch this cat weld, he knows his stuff but in taking these kinds of tests nowadays company's don't allow you to "ossiculate" or move side to side. If they catch you going side to side they will bust you automatically because they simply told you not to do it &/or, your out of welding procedure. The reason that they got out of this welding method because if your inexperienced you'll tend to have undercut which will lead to lack of fusion unless you grind the edges of every pass & especially on the cap if not knowing what your doing you could leave a hairline of undercut where you didn't dwell enough before moving & leave undercut. A very good piece of advise is to run as hot as you can running stringer beads then before you cap the test wire brush it real good but lightly with a powered wire wheel to help cool it down then go take a water break, smoke break, etc. to let that plate cool down to a reasonable temperature so your stringer cap will look nice, slick & uniform. If you think your getting off track, stop! get yourself aligned again & if need be do as Abraham says & cut you a slight grove with a 4" grinder or at least take a straight edge & scribe your path with a soap stone. This is the "money making weld" do whatever you've got to do legally to make the test! Good Luck!
