      Are you in the states too!? I find the European fly tying styles so interesting, specifically the usage of double hooks.
      Beautiful fly.

    Hey Davie just looking back for some Tyne smaller fly inspirations - this one looks really top draw - Davie question if you wanted heavier small flies could you use lead wire ?

    Hi Davie. i have a trouble when tyeing double hoooks(lop-sidded flys)... i do realise there are no magical qualites to the catching ability of doubles so im'e guessing its for the wieght it affords. so my question is. Does adding lead wire to the same sise singular hook affect the way the fly swims, as currently this is the method i use. or in fact are there other alturnitives? thanks for your time Jimi

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jimi,
      I have added lead to hooks for friends in the past just to give the fly a little extra weight...Though I personally just use weighted tubes like alloy, copper and even tungsten to get down to suit the water height and speed..
      All the very best Davie..

    Could this fly be tied on larger hooks or is it best to keep it small
