FINE BUSINESS! You can also do a final topup on the leg oil through the top fill screw with an oil can with the 90W in it.CHEERS from Westcoast Vancouver Island!

It's usually a good idea to replace the little O-rings on the gear lube drain plugs.
And I would put proper marine grease on every bolt below the waterline cause that can save you a lot of headaches in the future.
Just some advice from an outboard mechanic! great video :D

Did you ever fix the surgeing idle. I have the same motor and am experiencing the same issue.. adjusted idle speed and idle jet screw. It will either run fast or chug along and die. Once I find the happy spot of chugging along but not stalling it surges up to 1500rpm or so then back down..

No. Unfortunately not yet. We'll probably take another look at it this spring and see if we can figure it out.

Can you lay these 4 stroke engines on their side for transport like a 2 stroke?

It depends on on the motor, I would consult your owner's manual to make sure. For example, with this Yamaha, it is recommended to be transported and stored upright, but can be stored tiller side down if the oil has been drained.
