- Here's a quick video on fixing the headlight issues with the newest generation of RAM headlight switches. I haven't been able to find a video yet on this switch, so here it is. This is for the basic switch (part number 68401933AB). This is on a 2019 RAM 1500 Tradesman, but I'm guessing it's pretty similar on the other models. This may be covered under warranty, but the dealership quoted me $67 just to look at it and diagnose it, which would then be sent to see if warranty would even cover it. The part is $35. So I instead fixed it myself and saved the headache and money. Hope this helps.

I am so grateful for you making this video. After two days of darkness, I finally had time today my light panel off (I slipped while entering the truck and my knee faces in the bruins of the light dial). Just like yours, my back plate was not even connected to the area with the rotary dials. It was super simple to reconnect it thanks to this video. Who knows what a mechanic would've charged me. All it cost me with this is about 10-20 minutes of my time. Thank you.
Thanks much. I work on a military installation and am required to dim lights for gate guards. After buying this used truck off the lot last night, I realized this morning that could not turn off my headlights. This took 10 min in the driveway. Awesome.
Great video! I’m sitting here in the dark in my truck and wanted to turn the headlights off, and realized they would not turn off. I pulled this video up and I literally just reached down and gently pulled the panel off with my fingers. if you reach in on the right side between the panel and the steering wheel, it will come loose if you’re careful without tools . Sure enough that panel had popped off the back of the switch! I popped it back on and I’m back in business. Thanks!
Awesome. Opened it up and that plate was partially off. Thanks for the quick fix!
Awesome, saved me the cost of a new switch! The switch backplate on my 2021 Ram 2500 was the same way because my knee rammed into it getting into the car one day. Thanks for the great video!
I just noticed mine have the same problem now and just realized that I, too, slipped climbing into the driver's seat and my knee also hit this light area. Now the two light buttons are pushed in.
Totally worked! A simple fix to a problem that would have taken two weeks and many dollars to fix. Thank you much!!
man you saved me a ton of time! i banged the switch with my knee getting in the truck and the bed and fog light switches wouldn’t go in or out and the knob was unresponsive. i thought i had hours ahead of me taking apart my dash.
I removed the switch cover and sure enough, the back switch cover had popped off the the main switch panel.
thanks!!!
Thank you for the advice i can turn my lights off now i been dealing with this for a couple years and never got around to it and its something so simple
Thank you so much! My 2019 ram 1500 has had dash lights flickering for a long time now and I have found my running lights and tail lights coming on and off with no one in the truck. My dealer couldn’t help me because they “ couldn’t get it to happen “ out of frustration I posted my truck on you tube. Searching you tube for some help I found your video. I pulled my switch out and did exactly what you did and so far ( it’s been a few days ) my problems are gone. I used to get my dash lights to flicker just by turning my light switch from auto to manual and now can’t get them to flicker at all. I’m hoping my problem is solved so far so good. Again thank you! I hope this helps someone else.
Thank you! We were finally able to turn off our headlights.
Awesome video. I just fixed my headlights. Thank you for your help.
I have a 2019 Ram 2500 that I bought used and was having the same problem. I popped out the switch and found the back plate was semi dislodged. Snapped it back in and finally after driving around 1 - 1/2 years with the headlights always on it is working fine. Thank You very much for the video.
I'm glad it helped! So far the truck has been a great machine, but I'm sure over time I'll have more to post as things go out.
Great helped me find problem with headlights on a 19 Ram thanks
Your post is awesome ! I popped mine off. The case was open and clearly the problem. The grease wasn’t even in the correct spots. All fixed now and in less time than it took to drop it off for warranty work. Dealing with new car problems confirms I should just keep getting used. Unbelievable how Ram does such horrible assembly. Makes me concerned about the rest of my truck.
Thanks, this video saved me $86, took less than 5 min and it was fixed. 🎉
Jeeze. My headlight/fog lights/bed light haven't worked for about 5 months and I just got back from getting an oil change where I asked them to diagnose this. They looked at my fuses (which I'd already done) and said everything looked fine there but I'd need to schedule a follow up appointment to diagnose the electrical issue.
I watched this, grabbed my panel tools, popped off the panel, and in literally less than 30 second popped the back plate of the swtich on. It had popped off like everyone elses - but interestingly enough, mine had two pieces of tape on it as well as if this had happened before!
Thank you!!!!
You're welcome! Yeah, I've had run arounds constantly at the dealership about multiple issues and I swear CZcams and forums have fixed almost everything. I always get the 'schedule another appointment' for diagnosing also.
Fixed it! Thanks! I like to back into my drive but I don't like light up my neighbors' houses when I do it. I watched your video last night and went outside to see. Sure enough, the back was coming off of the headlight switch. I was instantly reminded of that time that I kneed that sucker. Hurt like hell and I bet that's when the back popped off.
Any tips on how to dim or out the automatic dash lights? My dimmer works but there's an automatic function that's full-on only is absolutely blinding at night.
@@chrisb.499 Mine is the same way. It seems like it's all or nothing and I'm assuming this is how it was made after watching other videos on the same thing. I guess they think we're either blind or have fresh eyes like a child.
Very helpful. Thanks man
Thanks sir! It looks like the previous owner of my truck lost the back side track pieces for the dials..spinning the dials did nothing. The light dial is pretty beat up too but now I know how to get it going at least.
Very helpful 👏👏👏
Thanks a big help
Wow it worked 💪
so should you not put grease back on contacts when installing new switch ?
I love the bike videos but this is one good to
Also nice truck
I'll be back editing those tonight actually! It's been long enough. Thanks for keeping up though.
@@MountaineerMoto thanks can’t wait
