      Btw, this started into a complicated affair. The lead singer, Sarah'le Sharon, went to Shaike Paikov, the composer of this song, went to him to compose a song for the preselection. Paikov hesitated because her vocal skills is not enough and once they both agreed to compose one, Paikov told her not to sing because she would kill the song. In the preselection, they won and went to Ireland
      Now, here starts the affair. The lead singer, wanted all the camera focused on her. Paikov, who noticed the commotion, went to the TV director and that TV director told Paikov that the singer wants all of the cameras focused on her because she is the lead singer. Tho, I have to agree that the background singers were good than her. Tho, at that first rehearsal, it was now fixed, focusing both the lead singer and the background singers.
      However, in the 2nd rehearsal, Paikov notices that all the cameras once focused again on her. Now, the fight has become more larger. And the singer demanded that the camera will focus on her. If they didnt do it, she will leave the group. So they have no choice but to do it.
      In the final, Paikov was worried about her singing. And yes, Paikov confirmed his doom, she sang way too loud and out of tune. Paikov wanted to get out of Ireland ASAP because he couldnt handle it. Tho, the Head of Delegation told him not to because it would be an issue in Israel

    The song is very good, the vocals, the subtleties and tender moments, along with a very well-rehearsed performance. Typical yet powerful symbol of unity - the performers always come together at the end. Israel always bring well-considered, polished, quality entries.

      Israel leaped forward in the early 90s economically. This song and singer (who's an ancient relic of folk singing, popular until mid 80s) is a part of what the outdated Israeli broadcast authority thought would be the perfect 70s song. This also started a very confused 2 decades of Israel trying to figure out what song to send to the contest, when the ratings declined rabidly before they picked up again mid 2010s.
      A horrible song and performance.

    Hello everybody:
    I would like to know the meaning of the sentence "אל תשאירו כוח למחר
    ", since "leave no strength for tomorrow" sounds a little bit odd and too literal.
    Context:
    שירו, שירו בגרון ניחר
    אל תשאירו כוח למחר
    שירו, שירו והדליקו אש
    כי השיר הוא כל מה שיש
    Greetings
    Carlos M.S.
    PS: This song is an Ashkenazi-type or Ashkenazi-styled song, isn't it?

    • @noamzacks3315
      @noamzacks3315 Před 4 lety +2

      It sort of means -use all your voice(even if it becomes sore)now,don't leave some for tommorow

    • @OrSNCucumber
      @OrSNCucumber Před 4 lety +2

      Hi,
      Your translation is indeed the literal meaning of the phrase.
      The meaning however is to use all your power TODAY and save nothing for TOMORROW.
      Imagine that you are going to a shopping spree for instance, which suppose to last two days.
      If we would reflect this line on the way you should do the shopping spree, the advice given in the line you had mentioned is to spend the entire budget, to the last cent, on the FIRST day, making the shopping spree last a SINGLE day only.
      As to your second question: As an Israeli, I am not familiar with Ashkenazi-styled songs. But I assume (And only assume) that Ashkenazi-Styled songs typically have Yidish Lyrics. This Song definitely doesn't has Yidish lyrics, in any case, that's not the type of songs you'd typically hear in Israel these days :-)
      Hope that helps!
      P.S, I assume you have a degree in a Science related topic. I study Computer Science and I feature in my channel topics related to my studies, so it might interests you.

      @@herrprofessor I'd say that the best translation to the word "כוח" in the given context, is "energy". Deplete all of your energy on singing today, leave no energy to sing tomorrow. But generally speaking the word "כוח", can translates to any of the words you had mentioned.
