This might be the most sophisticated Israeli Eurovision entry ever. Simply mesmerizing.
It is!
Yes - and 2012
I beg your pardon,but..the most ever
W H A T ?!!!
Sophisticated ??!!!!!!!@*&%×#/€_
And simply what...mesmerizing ?!!!
Yeah, sure,..but oniy inside Israel.
On the other hand, from Israel there are songs, which are more worth to be remembered and indeed are remembered,as for example :
A BANI BI ABO E BE
IM NIN ALU
RONA
plus
HAVA NAGILA,JERUSALEM OF GOLD
(which by the way are not jewish originally, but have Ucrainian and Basque roots)
And just by the way,
I AM NOT ANTISEMITIC
I do agree 100%. Anyway, much better than the winning song.
One of Israel's best entrys
So good. This catchy song deserved a better place.
One of the best Israeli entries ever.
Israel was in my opinion the strongest ESC country in the 70's and they opened the new decade with style! One of the cases when the live version surpasses the studio by a mile. Fantastic song, energetic performance, even 7th place is underrated in this case.
How pity is that the Eurovision version was not as good (much faster) than the national final version.
Israels golden age at Eurovision was 1973 - 1985
@@yaniva.7626
National version was little slower but far less energetic which in case of a song refering to a night or evening should not be considered as mistake. I personally prefer studio version.
A very underrated song
The boogie sound in the back..so 80s...bring them back !!!
Quite impressive how they maneuver their way through that spaghetti of microphone chords!
True - And during the Portuguese song, one of the back singer was almost caught in those cords. Lucky for the camera moved from him to the lead singer.
Interesting why they used such relict. Wireless micros were available since early seventies.
another one of israel's masterpieces *-*
Amazing she's performing so well at almost 8 months pregnant!
Just wonderful!
Great song and great performance
Shlomit Aharon was so pretty :)
At a time seven or eight month pregnant....
This is the mono version. There's a stereo version of that evening, making the backing singers much more prominent. This might be the reason the song didn't do as expected.
Wow wow I love so much this song it’s so beautiful
One of the best song israel sent ever.. Text, Composition, Processing and Execution
Fantastic everything about this song!
do you realize she performed this song pregnant in third trimester?
that dress was designed to hide the bump.
and she does it on those huge heels
I admire this designer, whoever she/he is. Aharoni also does a good job with her femme-fatale body language, it doesn't really cross your mind the lady might be 8 mths preg.
And 1:32 is responsible!!
A delicate fashion from those days...now the baby etc..all hanging out!! lol...I loved her dress..pretty.
Israeli Music Playlists de
Had no idea.
Fabulous! So gripping and catchy, and the performance and harmonies are beautiful. One of my favorites from Israel, and one of my top faves from '81!
(Edit) You're not gonna believe this, but this song is composed by an Israeli-American named Shuki Levy, who's behind an incredible amount of your favorite cartoon theme songs all throughout the 80s and 90s, from He-Man, Dragon Ball Z and Digimon Tamers to She-Ra and Spider-Man! No wonder this song is awesome!
Wow I did not know that. Very cool!
Thank you for that bit of info, I had no idea! I heard this song at the Eurovision contest in ‘81, and I instantly fell in love with it! Then, I looked for it , for loooong YEARS! And some time ago, not too long, I found it on CZcams! Hehe! It really brought back wonderful memories, and listening to it for the first time in sooo many years, I realized how much I still love it. That part didn’t change. I think , if I’m not mistaking, the composer is married to the singer?
Actually, Shuki Levy was the producer of Power Rangers, the theme was composed by the great Ron Wasserman, who is also responsible for the X-Men theme.
@@saar144 Thanks for that correction!
One of the best israelian songs in all ESC. Very catchy and a remarkable choreography with all those microphone cables not to end up in a knot. Her confidence grows during the performance and at the end she shows, what she is capable of. A brilliant example how every one gains from team work. They gave all their best and it swepted over to the others. Should have been a top 3 result at least. Love it. There was always a cover in finnish language, which tells, how we loved this song.
Can you write down a link to the Finnish song?
@@abcxyz8787 sorry, there is no CZcams link...there was a double cd with ESC entries sung in finnish.
@@mrtorstai5336 It's ok :)
It will be lovely to find - maybe the name of the artist?

Oh, what energy! I studied Hebrew for many years but didn’t use the language at all for just as many years now - it’s quite funny to realise I understand close to 100% of the words they’re singing in this song ...
The thing about Hebrew nowadays is that nobody is pronouncing the "R" the way it was sung in this song.
PonyClub
Exactly, they have the “French r”. Wonder when it started changing? During the late 80’s, the 90’s, beginning of the 00’s?
@@davidkasquare
That pronunciation requires more effort, and it was a more official way. It just became obsolete.
I think it started fading away late 80s and nobody uses the R sound like this today.
Being casual and informal is what Israeli culture is all about, which is something I like.
PonyClub
Yes, I know, and I always also learnt and was speaking Hebrew with the “French r”. (I started learning Hebrew in the year 2004)
@@davidkasquare
It's both ancient and very new. Most Israelis do not speak correct Hebrew, but I think this is true in all other countries.
Agree
For me they are the real winners.
I was working in a hotel in Haifa...watching this :) memories...but not making the beds!!
amazing!
Anyway, ESC 1981 is for me one of the best editions ever. Just one thing sent wrong: the winning song.
Yeah. Bucks Fizz are some of the luckiest Eurovision winners ever. They only got 2 sets of 12 points, the lowest ever for a winner!
@@Euroviking86 as a Brit, I can say that Bucks Fizz did not deserve to win. For me it should have been Germany, Switzerland or Israel.
@@JeSuisRene I completely agree, I'll throw Cyprus's excellent debut in the mix. I would've been fine with any of those as a winner, though Switzerland is my top pick.
@@Euroviking86 one of those 12 points were given by Israel
@@Euroviking86
I think that to date, 1981 is the only contest I cannot choose a clear winner.
I personally prefer France.
Beautiful
Now 40 years ago and still fantastic melodious catchy.
Compare with the Eurovision garbage watching last night in Rotterdam. Israel was always the best during those years. Evergreens. Love it.
(Eden’s entry for 2021 was good. Pity, Corona).
Brilliant.
I sneezed 6 times when watching this
I love this song
12 points from uk
God bless you, I hope it's not an allergy to Hebrew
Fantastic!!!
Israeli music from the 80's is the bomb
"Bomb" 💀
True
@@berk6479
Bomb (Ptsatsa פצצה) is a Hebrew slang for an excellent thing. You should learn Hebrew before you react. It's like Harika in Turkish.

The performance is great and a beautiful song but the Composition is well made, thank you Composer to made it possible
This song is composed by one of the men who created Power Rangers! Yes, that's true; his name is Shuki Levy.
Típica canción israelí con folk y ritmo atractivo y pegadizo.

** I Love this very much & it is very beautiful & wonderful!
Interesting Fact: Unlike the majority of Eurovision Hebrew songs, Halayla doesn't make the 'ch' sound (ח) once during the song.
I guess Shlomit has more of a Sephardic or Mizrahi pronunciation. Or did everyone speak the Rs like that back then?
I can't stop thinking that after this performance someone had to get paid to detangle the microphone cords.
Lol, yeah. In the Portuguese song one of the backing singer almost got himself trapped
~~the woman’s then unborn baby is the youngest person on the Eurovision stage~~

Great song. Would be even better if they would have slowed it down a drop.
Yep, the original performance was a bit slower. The tempo has been increased to fit the contest requirements. Search the original version on CZcams.
Pretty Pretty Pretty Good 👌🏽

FYI, Shlomit Aharon was 7 months pregnant then...
someone once said that Tzedi Tzarfati the director of the Israeli entry sewed the glitters on her dress one by one and than again on the night before the contest after having to make adjustment one more time
do you realize that haleluya song was written for this group but they refuse to take it.
yes and also a-ba-ni-bi!
considering how this song is about horny people while Hallelujah is about being happy to the world, i can see why
Really?!!?!

Shlomit the lead singer was 6 months pregnant during this ESC. Was married to Yuval (first from the right) at the time
The singer was eight month pregnant. 1:34 with the responsible!!
Great singer, is she still singing?
Yes indeed
Yes! she's in her 70's and still looks and sounds great! she's a real professional with good genetics 🙂
Her name is Shlomit Aharon
with a cover in English,it might have entered international charts, but not the top 10 or 20.
They passed on Halleluja in 1978. This band was originally going to sing the song that won for Israel that year.

Before we say goodbye
Before the day goes down
Many things will be said between us
A thousand words
A thousand sounds
Until tonight
Seems like it's already happened
Seems like it's already been
Seems like (things) were already been said between us
All the words
All the sounds
Night, night
Whatever was, whatever was
That has been between us
Whatever was, whatever was
That we both said
All the words, all the sounds
Night, night
That we both said..
Whatever was, whatever was
That has been between us
Whatever was, whatever was
That we both said
All the words, all the sounds
Night, night
Night, night..
Tonight, tonight
This will be the night
We will say things that we have never said before
Tonight, tonight
This will be the night
In which we'll say with no words, with no sounds
We will say things of love
Whatever was, whatever was
That has been between us
Whatever was, whatever was
That we both said
All the words, all the sounds
Night, night
That we both said..
Whatever was, whatever was
That has been between us
Whatever was, whatever was

All the words, all the sounds
Night, night
Night, night..
Don't get this one and neither the Cypriot one. Both very irritating to me. Lyrics in the Cypriot entry and sort of screaming in the Israeli one.
