Thank you for this wonderful documentary!
I guess we all have our own Kentucky Derby Day stories!
Like when I was 12 and my oldest sister was getting married.
My 3 sisters and Mommy were all rushing around getting our hair done, make up on, and dressed for her wedding.
Then the Derby race started, and we all froze and stopped everything to watch the race!
Then, in 1978, I was touring around the United States in my schoolbus camper after one of my sisters had tragically passed away on November 27,1977, and I was trying to make sense of her death.
I ended up in Kentucky on the 1st Saturday in May 1978.
It was an amazing Race Affirmed, under jockey, Steve Cauthen won the race by 1 1/2 lengths over Alydar.
And Affirmed went on to Win the Triple Crown that year, too!
I have watched every Kentucky Derby since I was a kid and am planning on attending next year 2025!
May it be a safe race for all the Horses and Riders today and this year at the Track!
