What a gorgeous, talented boy Secretariat was, just a racing machine, amazing!! ❤❤
An absolutely magnificent specimen! "Big Red" Secretariat was an incredible athlete and a beautiful horse!
After he was retired.... Other horses in the paddock... Would ONLY eat AFTER Secretariat began to eat. THAT is Horse Respect!
This horse will always have a deep place in my heart. What a beautiful chestnut magnificent horse.Unbeviable magnificent horse with top speeds and broke records like they was nothing
I love watching Secretariat race in 1973 me and my mom watched him win ❤
HIs heart was literally 2.5 times the size of a normal horse -- physically AND emotionally. He was an amazing creature -- God's horse as far as I'm concerned. I cry every time I watch this.
Amen to that
I become teary-eyed everytime I think of, read about or watch Big Red do what he loved most...running.
Love you Big Red ❤
The greatest horse of all time
What an incredible horse.
Watching that horse run it’d bring tears to your eyes it was such a thing of beauty. His lope was so long it looked like he was flying. Goosebumps man. There’ll NEVER be a horse like him again. I feel blessed to see him in his prime run. I was going on 13.
Greatest of All Time
The original GOAT!
Best thoroughbred that ever lived,, rest in peace Big Red
Spectacular horse. ❤
There'll never be another horse like him,
I fell in love with horses at 5 yrs old in 1966. For as long as I can remember I have never missed watching the run for the Triple Crown in 55 yrs. Secretariat won my heart & soul by the time he won the Derby ... I was 11 yrs old. He was the stuff dreams are made of ... I cried every time I watched him run. The Belmont STILL chokes me up to this day! Pure MAGIC. It's as if for a moment in time God smiled down and said, "Look what I created ... He's my gift to mankind and for 2 min 53 seconds I'll show you a living miracle!" …The closest in looks and comparison lately was California Chrome but sadly unable to pull it together. I've been so rich & blessed beyond measure to have read about Man O War, witnessed Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Affirmed, American Pharaoh & Justified.
I enjoyed this video and context so much , even if it passes a 100 years. I get emotional 😭 and couldn’t even imagine what the ppl who witnessed this magnificent horse 🐴 win 🏆 3 races felt . He sill holds the record .. .. love Secretariat ♥️♥️♥️
I was 14 that Spring when Big Red won the Triple crown! I read about him in the paper and cut out articles and pictures. As I watched the Belmont race the excitement grew with each tremendous stride! When the announcer said he was moving like a tremendous machine I was screaming at the TV to not stop, yelling Go, Go over and over! By the time he crossed the finish line I was in tears! I knew I had witnessed a moment in time that was beyond special!! I had no words, just tears!! To Red, God's Horse!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I read Secretariat story in Readers Digest about more than 40 years ago, if my memories serves me right. Just like before, more than 40 years, as i view this contents i have some tears in my eyes and wish and thanks God for the share of His wonder of life in the form of Horse Secretariat. What this Horse life demonstrate is a triumph of love over everything.
May our God, in some future time, bring back another Secretariat to demonstrate power of love for the future generations.
Beautiful comment.
Sham had to be the unluckiest horse in a century to have to run in the same year as Secretariat. Sham would likely have won the Triple Crown himself except for Secretariat.
AGREED! Sham would have very likely won the Triple Crown...
What impressed my is when Sham was being whipped ....
Ron was simply hanging on! Secretariat was running his own Race!
John Esposito great poker player
This is a wonderful video and a wonderful tribute to Secretariat and . I can’t believe that more people haven’t seen it. He was perfection.
The Sports Century ESPN doc on him was so good. I highly recommend it.
You will always be missed rest in peace😢
Secretariat is my favorite racehorse
He’ll always be my favorite ❤ pure magic 🪄
Another video showing the superb performance of the perfect horse
I was caught up in the excitement about Big Red in the Kentucky Derby at the time which only grew as the chance of a Triple Crown winner seemed possible.
Since then I watched so many videos about the amazing Secretariat but TIL something new. Sitting in my townhouse which is twenty feet wide I was staggered at the mention of his twenty five foot stride....slowly looked from one wall to the other, dumbfounded that he could clear that by five more feet. Sittinging total awe. So glad that I lived to see his performances.😢
Everyone loves the Belmont race, I do too! However, you really get to witness his explosive speed in the Preakness. That is by far my favorite race.
RUN BABY RUN!!
Ich hab das Rennen bestimmt tausend Mal gesehen und könnte es nochmal soviel schauen UNFASSBAR
There won't be another one like secretariat in my life time 😢😊
Christopher Chenery made a great decision to breed Bold Ruler & Something Royal & for Penny Chenery Tweedy decided to race the horses until her dad passed... Beautiful Secretariat was a Blessing...God Bless Chenery Family 🙏✝️🙏& the Secretariat Team🙏
I believe that Secretariat was a miracle horse. His heart was 2 1/2 times the normal horse heart> 22 lbs. Sham likewise had a huge heart as well > 18 plus lbs. Obviously the size of a horse's heart has a major affect on a horse's performance.
He was, once in an eternity. He and Sham shared maternal dams by Princequillo, both are my heavenly pillars.
Steroids enlarged his heart
Danke für dieses wunderbare Pferd.
At Pimlico,it's funny how Secretariat looks back at the guy who smacked his bum for not going in the gate.
Ms. Tweety had guts.
In the Belmont stakes race ,it was a wonderful moment to witness, lucky to those whos at the race💚💚💚💚💚
Thank you!
I don't know why, but I end up crying every time I watch Secretariat run. I hope we can find a cure for laminitis!
00: 28 hrs 01/07/2024
The only thing that secretariat was never allowed to do was run against his own time, as far as he wanted as fast as he wanted. I think that would’ve been something to see and remember.
Super Penny du hast dieses Pferd erkannt ❤❤❤
I just don't understand how that hoof infection was caught before it got that bad ! The greatest horse that ever roamed the earth and nobody noticed he had a hoof infection. Rip in power big red aka Secretariat
Laminitis is not an infection. It’s a rotation of the coffin bone. The only way to definitively diagnose the onset of laminitis aka founder is by x-rays.
Those rich folks didn’t care about his hoofs when he wasn’t running anymore it seems. He deserved better ❤
@@gypsyfirefly8009 So how exactly did Claiborne Farm not care about his feet? Did they neglect them? If so how?
@@gypsyfirefly8009 Laminitis happens so fast and is very difficult to treat , every horse I have know who got it ended up having to be put down . Its very painful for them . The bone inside the hoof separates from the hoof .
@@TheKirst12345exactly, it was hard onset laminitis to my knowledge. Nevertheless they probably should’ve put a saddle on him periodically to keep his weight down. Cart before the horse I suppose.
Amazing documentary! The absolute best I've seen 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Secretariat was big horse. In Man O War race, the other horses look like ponies compare to him.
The 4 races Secretariat lost in doesn't count considering he was sick runing with a fever.
That's for video
the only ONE SECRETARIAT
Horses with white hooves/leg markings need to have a higher level of scrutiny and ongoing care especially when weight gain is allowed to happen as is common in stallions at stud. A better exercise regimen needs to happen with stallions even if its at the short term expense of time in the covering sheds - but they are used like cash registers and their temperament suffers so exercise becomes difficult. Less greed would make ongoing management easier.
yeah they knew nothing🙄 it happens
🦋💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦋
How did he do that 😳
😢
I have the dvd version of this documentary and I think it’s great. There is one questionable comment made in this video that also appears in the ESPN Sportscentury documentary that confuses me. The comment that the commentator stated that Secretariat broke the Belmont record by 2 1/5 second. When I watch the CBS Sports Belmont TV broadcast, Chic Anderson announces Secratariat broke the record by 2 3/5. Checking a google response on this from wickapedia, it states Secretariat broke the 1957 Gallent Man record, which was 2:26 3/5. I assume Chic Anderson and wickapedia are correct. Does anyone know for sure?
I would bet Chic Anderson was 100%, correct
And the record that will stand forever by the magnificent secretariat
Red did it in 2:24, Gallant Man in 2:26 3/5. So, 2 3/5 seconds better.
@@sheilatruax6172dann ist Galant Man das schnellste Pferd aller Zeiten???
@@saro5240 I'm sorry. I don't know speak Deutsche. I would love to answer you.
