    Today we got a Honda GX120 and it has a random no spark issue. it will run for bit and then all of a sudden stop sparking. There is a few things I should have down first but this video will go over everything on the Ignition side that you need to look at from doing the air gap test. Verifying continually on the kill switch and measuring resistance on the Primary and secondary coil.

      Follow up: ended up being low on oil. I guess the drain plug was bumped enough to allow a slow leak to start. Put oil in and it fired right up.

      Turn the points ignition system in to full electronic system. If you don’t want to, make sure you clean the points and set the correct gap. I don’t really bother with replacing points ignition parts like the condenser because those are obsolete parts.

    Problem I have with my generator is with the wire connected from on/off switch to the Coil the generator has no spark but if I disconnect that wire from the coil then the generator has spark when I turn it over. Could it be that there’s a breaker that engaged the ignition system to cut out the wire going to the coil which cuts the spark?

      Is there enough engine oil? oil switch or crankcase oil sensor (got stuck)might have malfunctioned. Make sure oil enough, then disconnect ground wire from ignition coil

      @@adeyemibabatunde1814 I discovered the oil sensor was bad so I just unplugged it. Didn’t have oil sensors back in the day so really don’t care to spend money replacing a part that is irrelevant to a machine. Unless someone knows nothing about mechanics then I wouldn’t waste the money on the part

    A couple of my Honda engines have the "low oil" sensor on the side, if the oil is low or the sensor bad.... no spark. But I'm guessing you knew that already.

    • @TestDontguess
      @TestDontguess  Před 8 lety +1

      +roguesquatcher the low oil sensor was actually bypassed. the issue was the it would run and then stop and no spark. I didn't suspect the coil at first because we originally did have spark

  • @sengdarable
    @sengdarable Před 4 lety +1

    There is evidence in this video that the old coil is working after the first reconnection. The first pull shows sparks, then the spark plug moves out of being grounded so no spark. The claim that the coil is bad, I don't think so. Check the video again. Spark was there and it should be there if it was properly ground.
