These vinyl containers are a tremendous idea! Well done, spiffiness factor 10 and worth of sail life ingenuity (despite no sanding was involved…)!
Came here to make the same comment, these are a genius solution and look excellent!
Cracking idea for the vinyl 'baskets' to organise your shelves, well thought through and (as important) executed. Well done Eva.
*Ava
Was so GREAT to see more of Ava!!! She's really getting comfortable in her newfound position in front of the camera! I truly enjoyed her DIY on the vinyl "baskets/boxes," what an excellent idea, with exceptional results. I'd have never thought of that one! Videos seem to be getting better each week. I'd like to think that Ava has something to do with that too. :-D
Thanks for bringing us along!
Oh yeah, you did good too, Mads..... ;-D
LOLOLOL
Ava adds a nice balance to the channel. It's DIY fun +.
Ava has the magical pointing finger. Love it.
I've watched a lot of videos of fiberglassing, woodworking and metalworking but I think Ava's vinyl baskets are about the coolest thing I have seen. They sure would have been handy in my RV'ing days.
Tape is OK for a door handle. You know what's even better............A Real Door Handle! I can't wait to see the new doorway.
Holy Moly! Those vinyl containers are a work of genius AND art. Get them patented and a manufacturer sorted right away guys. Thats your million dollar idea right there! I'm going to try and make some for my boat :-)
The boat is looking great and that vinyl pantry box idea is very nice. Good work!
Really enjoying the content Ava adds to the channel. It was great before, now its twice as good! :)
Her contribution is impressive, certainly.
*Ava
I love this channel. I look forward to it the way I used to look forward to my favorite TV shows.
So when I laugh about this, it's with love. The door to the head that contains a bluetooth enabled toilet is secured with masking tape. A boat owner's work is never done.
I really like the drone shots where the drone is not moving but your ship is!
looking forward to more sailing/ship moving videos, even though I also like the DIY fun stuff!
WELL DONE EVA...Fantastic idea!!!!!!!!!!!! plus they turned out GREAT to say the least
@ 3:15...it's amazing really, how you guys make all these CZcams videos and speak so clearly without any lips.
Those vinyl containers are a great idea for my camping kitchen kit. Thanks Eva!
My sailing days are over, but thanks to you guys I can get my weekly dose of sailing and spiffy DIY right here in CZcams. Allready looking forward to next Sunday.
I have to agree, I think that I will be make these for my holiday trailer. Being able to see what is in the box and custom fit to boot will be a great addition.
*Ava
Ava is killing it
I just thought of something @ 12:15. I am a drone enthusiast and have been watching countless sailing channels and I would say 100% of the time the drone shots are beauty shots of the boat sailing around someplace with cinematic sweeps and pans. However, I just saw this shot at 12:15 and was like HOLY COW what an amazing use of a drone! Especially coming into a new port and not being entirely sure of the layout (charts and ipads can be a bit tricky). Actual visual reconnaissance is brilliant. Excellent idea Mads & Ava!
Spiffy sewing project ! Can’t wait to see the new trim and woodwork…until then, Sea Yoo !!
Vinyl boxes are AWESOME!
Stay healthy and we'll see you next week.
As to an outside heater, I'd recommend a battery powered lower back heating pad. They aren't expensive and your lower back is a great place to apply heat since a huge amount of blood flow passes through your kidneys. When you heat the blood in your core the central nervous system responds by sending more blood to your extremities which keeps them warm.
I prefer the sun myself to be honest 😁
I like the ororo heating jackets. They are around $150 as a system which is kind of pricey but it works great
We used to do something similar with those chemical hand warmers and a large scarf when I was a kid. Fold a large scarf long-ways and wrap it around your lower back outside your shirt but under your coat. Tie it off in front and then tuck a couple activated hand warmers into the fold right over your kidneys. Worked GREAT on those long afternoons outdoors, even if your gloves were wet it hardly mattered. You stayed warm for hours.
Your channel has evolved so well. The boat has come along way, obviously, but so has the videography. And Ava has melded into the channel seamlessly.
Your video format is very easy (entertaining) to watch!
You make a fantastic team :) I love to see you make this journey :)
What a charming couple.
What a nice surprise to wake up to (6am Eastern Time US).....a new Sail Life video posted earlier than normal!!!
Super cool with the drone shots at the arrival! 😎
So good to see you both out and sailing !
Cleverly done with those vinyl baskets. They turned out amazing.
There is something very funny about having all that incredible high tech gear including walkie talkie headsets but still having to seal the loo door with masking tape!!! :)
Looking great guys
It was nice to see Eva tackle her own project, and what a clever solution. Well done!
no more 'OLD' Athena - she is beautiful!
Well done indeed Eva! GOD speed guys. JC
We all need a locker of shame. I loved the drone footage. I don't think you told us about the water taste test! Here is a heating idea for when in the cockpit - from my motorcycling days. A 12V heated vest. You would use a 12V socket in the cockpit on a coiled cord so you can move around. Some vests are battery driven, but less effective IMHO. Heating your torso keeps everything warm (when your body senses cold conditions, blood is withdrawn from extremities to your core to protect your vital organs. This is why your feet and hands suffer. Keeping your torso warm keeps blood and warmth in circulation.
The quality of work on Athena is continuing with Eva's contribution - well done guys yet another "Like"
This project is beyond belief. You deserve a medal, a standing ovation, a case of beer for life, and a good psychiatrist to explain how you got through this. And I complain about the work I have to do on my smaller boat? Super Sailor Man!
Love the idea and design of the container made from transparent vinyl!
Great idea with the baskets 😁. Great content as always!
great update guys. cheers from PEI Canada
Great drone video while underway. This should be nearly as much fun for your viewers as well!
The drone footage is improving greatly.
Oh, yeah, love the drone shots! 😀
Clear containers a nice opportunity for Ava to start a side business
Looooove that Ava is getting her own DIY profile in the videos. You guys rock
"Breaker, breaker, 10-4." 😂🙌
Love vinyl tubs Eva
Cool vinyl bags Ava !!!!
Just awsome! Great vinyl bags!
Love the drone footage.
I LOVED this one! Thanks. So much for the sewing lesson Eva
You might want to put a thin plywood board on the bottom of your vinyl bags so they don't flop around when you pull the bag off the shelf.
Great suggestion.
You are very resourceful. Job well done.
If you find the plastic bins edges too 'droopy' with repeated use, you can make a small slit in the rim and insert a length of #12 awg solid copper wire with your choice of jacket colors (red for meats, green for veggies, etc.). It's flexible and can be repeatedly bent into whatever shape you need. The Big Box stores will sell it by the foot... 🤔
Heavy gauge weed cutter plastic cable would also work.
Nice job on the storage containers!👍
"Now get to work!" LOL
Sure is nice to see Ava’s contribution. What a treat! Thanks for the video and good vibes.
Two potentially useful mods:
1 a camera in the technical compartment for quick check ups, even a cheaper model would be good.
2 an anti kick switch cover for the water maker switch.
Totally spiffy idea on the pantry "boxes"!
Love the drone shots!
So impressed you are pronouncing Chichester correctly!!!!👏👏👏 ( not the chychester way) 😀😀😀
I like you vinyl locker units , possibly sewn in a line at top to strengthen??
Cheers Warren
Good idea for the baskets, cheers
The highlight of my Sunday Evening. How spiffy!
BTW love how the wife to be is getting good at ordering him around.
It’s great that after watching these videos every Sunday evening for years, I think I started with installing the Reflex Stove in Obelix, you are in my back yard in Chichester Harbour. Welcome, both of you.
The vinyl storage bags are brilliant. Fantastic idea.
Fantastic video once again !!! Vinyl containers are a great solution ! Another tip in the tips book
Man, that "see you" at the end sounded like it had auto-tune applied. Spiffy! Great episode Mads and Ava! Thanks. 👍
Harmonic, I thought. Either way, sounded great, and a great episode!
Your clear plastic baskets are fantastic. Very useful way to do it…. Hint… we have made clear tool bags similar to these. Velcro or zippers can be easily added and you can use standard webbing on the seams to make them stronger. What’s nice is you can see the tools…
Athena is such a gorgeous looking yacht. Owners work so hard but with humour. Aldi the world wide shop. The vinyl boxes are brilliant.
Love the vinyl baskets!!
Love the vinyl boxes. I’ll make some for IZZI.
Nice work on the baskets Ava. Love the 'marriage savers.' Take care and be safe.
A good spot by the rigger that a pin was missing. Something you both should check before every sail. Certainly go up the mast before any long crossing. Check the anchor is secure.
Great idea and work Ava!
Been away for about 6 months. Wow great job!
Brilliant basket idea!
Love you two, Keep it going, awesome.
I could watch you guys for hours!
:-D
Love the vinyl containers. Great idea and well made.
You guys are great.
Great show.
What a wonderful idea for storage!! Great job.
Thanks Ava! Very cool containers! 👍👍
Another great video
Great video, thanks
Sewn boxes is brilliant!
Good job on the boxes. You two have your hand full with project & the upcoming wedding. But it would be great to hear how you 2 meet. Maybe a few story about for 1st few dates. What caught your interests?
Love the vinyl boxes Ava, that's a great idea.
I'm really happy for you guys 👦 💓
Love those baskets.
awesome vinyl bags. great job!
Another great video you two .
@04:45 I think you mean "Split Pin" - the Cotter Pin is what you are placing it in!
The vinyl bags are a fantastic idea👍
glad all is going well and moving forward happy sails and enjoy life together
Awesome video!
Love the portion on the vinyl baskets! Eva, you did a great job. I would have never thought of it. Thanks. ;)
Ava, I love the vinyl storage bags, boxes, brilliant idea and they look super useful!
Woodwork! Woodwork! Woodwork!
Wow, I like the vinyl boxes.
That pantry is looking good. Making the shelves into draws will be next. The water maker works great. I have 300L of fresh water tankage which is allot of shore runs with 20L drums, if only there was a fuel maker🏴☠️
I'm so thoroughly impressed with ALL you've done and how it's all working so well. Excellent work. ✊🏼
