I can’t believe it’s been 5 years with Athena. I remember the Oblix days. All have been a great adventure and thank you for taking us along.
I am going to make a very deep bow. This ship, which you created, is beautiful rebuild, practical designed for daily use. And I have an enormous respect for your persistency, not giving up for 5 years, which were not always easy. And last but certainly not least, Eva and Mats, congratulations with your marriage, may you both enjoy each others company for a very long time, together with Athena!

C’mon, you know that dodger is not just 80s sci-fi. It’s a repurposed X-wing cockpit! Jokes aside your tour has made me realise how much of the rebuild I’ve watched in real time. All of which has been first class work.

Congratulations for both an amazing living space and being a married couple.
Wow! I can tell much thought has gone into this refit, it’s definitely the best I’ve seen. Now I’m going to have to go back and binge watch the ones I missed. Originally, I wrongly assumed it was just another “beat it to fit & paint it to match” kind of refit and I just can’t stand the idea of not cleaning anything & just covering up grime that I see enough of in homes that have been repo’d or updated... You both are a breath of fresh air and one of so very few that want everything done right & safely. I’m paranoid about redundancy in my homes and make sure we can be comfortable if there’s no electricity, heat or water so it’s even more impressive to see it done beginning without “inland power”.

Look at how far you've come since I started. I have never had a sailboat, and I will likely never have one, I'm here for the satisfaction of amazing craftsmanship, Mads' and now Ava's amazing personalities.
I remember way back in the Obelix days. I remember Mads sailing to Scotland to get Athena, the rudder, Mads bitterly (well as bitter as Maids can be) naming a smiley face he drew on the wall Wilma and calling it his girlfriend, selling Obelix, getting Ava there, and so much more.

I’ve seen Mads go from wistfully accepting that women who wanted to sail round the world were hard to find to being happily married. Congratulations to both of you. My wife and I have been together for almost four decades and I still look forward to seeing her (almost) every time I do. I hope and trust you stay happy together for as long and longer.

I knew, from your early blog days that this would become one heck of a spiffy ship, but man... Athena is slick as slick gets.
You need a little 'L' shape hinge up table-top/desk on that half bulkhead in the forward cabin, so that when you are sat on the bench you have a workspace to get the laptop and your coffee conveniently to hand (the 'L' shape will work nicely for ingress/egress also ;)

My favorite thing about the boat tour is that every single item in every shot brought back a memory of the episode(s) of you handcrafting it. You have not only built a work of art but a well-made, fully-functioning dream. It has been a great 5 + years. I have even gotten used to there being water around your boat too 🙂
Nice to see the boat nearly finished. Better than many new boats in fact. Congrats on getting hitched and amazing that two people actually agree that sailing and living on a boat is a good idea. My wife wont go anywhere near a boat smaller than the Queen Mary.

You guys have done an amazing job refitting Athena. One question ,why don't you have a micro wave ? They are so convenient and a micro wave would be so much easier to heat up food or drinks when it's hard to stand when your sailing in rough weather. The only complaint I've have is I wish the videos were longer. They seem to be over as soon as they get started and then it's a week wait until the next video.
Ava you did a fantastic job commentating the video and you seem more relaxed and having fun . Stay safe my favorite people ,take some couples time for yourselves and enjoy your life togeather.

That induction cooktop you saw is mated to a convection oven / microwave combination. I would *love* to buy one for my boat, but as you saw they are made from unobtainium. I suspect that someone will eventually offer one, but most of the marine stove/oven suppliers lack the sophistication to build an integrated microwave.

Love the 'Unobtanium 2000' stenciled on the cooktop. We used to use that as a joke in the Aviation industry, when the military would want something that weighed nothing, cost nothing and had infinite strength.

I am supersized that no company has picked up on this unfilled space in the market. Force 10, where is your gimbled induction cook top with a configurable power limit?
@@Nerd3927 Agreed. The Victron Inverter/Charger does a nice job of drawing from the batteries, if the Alternator/Genset isn't supplying enough power. I'm a huge fan of Victron. Looking to get rid of my Propane stove as the excess heat coming off it is not good in the summer.
BTW, when you do the USA tour, come up the Chesapeake Bay. We're located at the top where you would cut through the C&D canal into the Delaware River. Always welcome.

All I can say Guys, is you have done a brilliant job on that boat. I mean, I love the timber look, believe me, but what you have done in brightening up the interior of Athena is so good and modern looking. You could almost mistake this for a brand new boat and version of the original. Good work. can't wait to see the finished job, which will probably be in around 10 years or so.

This one was great, your voices are so pleasant to listen to and together you have are a font of knowledge about how to get the results you want/need most especially with Mads knowledge of computing. I have been watching for well over 2 years now. I thoroughly enjoy watching these videos as much as the first ones. Even more so now as the projects are becoming more " finish work" as it were.
Ava and Mads I remain breathless watching you folks building your boat so thoughtfully. Yes the boat is beautiful but the beauty is far more than skin deep. I still shudder when I see the flawless stainless and hand built retainers for your spices; god bless you folks because, well that quality of work is beyond what I have the discipline to ever actually complete.
Now double head sails are good for a little extra horse power when driving to windward in a rough seaway and yea lose the boom for sure. However unless I'm racing I go way out of my way not to drive to windward in a rough seaway. Hence please consider bidding the staysail a big Aloha. Just my thoughts, more than just a grain of sand included.
