that talk about indie developments is how I feel about public domain, the more stuff that starts to enter public domain the better fiction becomes as companies no longer have a stranglehold over ideas, sure it comes with some drawbacks (lazy horrors etc) but it opens up true freedom that can make stories and ideas that big companies just refuse to do anymore.
Looks fun and relaxing. Not every game has to be horrifically difficult.
heh I commented about a minute before you talked about it being relaxing.
You're right. If getting to Kendra without breaking a statue, so being allowed in, that would be such a nice addition. It would deprive you of most of the game, of course, but it would make so much sense to include it.
Spoiler. The palace doesn't exist. Everyone that dies goes to hell.
Those soot creatures in Spirited Away are called Soot Sprites! I can't remember if the old man says so though, I think you have to learn what they are from one of Miyazaki's other movies My Neighbor Totoro.
I hear you Wander about Indie game vs big company games lately. It's not just the extra annoying steps like Ubisoft accounts, or the massive employee abuse that's present in all of them, but there's a complete void of new ideas. That's why it's pretty much just sequels that are worst than the previous games. A copy of a copy. Anyway, thank you for constantly showing new and interesting game that actually seem fun to play. Love your content my dude!
Big companies are too risk averse, so at most you can expect them to not screw up the new iteration of a successful series. They'll only jump into the bandwagon after the indie scene shows there's a demand.
Yay cats and spirits/ghost two of my favorite things
What an adorable game! Wait a minute, that's it for the demo? What a CATastrophe!😁
*I'll see myself out now*
Looks amazing. Reminds me of the game about a crow reaper. Super cute style
Well, another adorable game to my wishlist pile :) that voidcat is just too cute
not isometric, this is 3/4ths perspective topdown
Design/visual communication student spotted
I think they mean the same thing?
@@celloafterdark4173 No, isometric is a very specific viewpoint (picture a cube with 3 visible sides, each the same size). Famous games using it include Q*bert, Age of Empires and The Sims. It's often associated with games heavily using rectangular shapes in 3D environments as it used to be a way to display 3D objects without using 3D models using a perspective trick. It was one of the first way to display 3D in games. It's also good at displaying buildings with layers.
Lovely demo, thanks for showing it up! I was also entranced by the soundtrack.
Art style is very gorgeous and i might try a game out of my comfort zone since you play as a cat.
That is such a missed opportunity. At 4:04. You get a brom, you are a cat, there are stuff at the edge. Why did they miss that they should have animated the cat pushing stuff over the edge!?
On the topic of giving individual indie games a bigger spotlight, do you have any plans to revisit crafty survivors before its out of early access? They've been adding a lot of content and deepening the meta-progression a good bit. Excited to see some deeper dives on games
I'll likely return to it after the Next Fest in February. Right now my inbox is overflowing with new games.
The problem with cats is that they were once worshiped as gods in Egypt... and they have never forgotten it. :)
The egyptians didnt actually worship cats. They thought they were like grim reapers
Feels like it has a Hyper Light Drifter influence.
On the topic of indie. I’ve been in AAA dev my whole life and candidly, it’s become boring. The creativity coming from indie is wildly more enjoyable, which is why I focus most of my efforts (gaming, videos I make) etc on them. Way more interesting.
Hey, I really enjoyed watching your video - it was a lot of fun! I've noticed that you often try out new games, and many times, I find myself wanting to check them out for myself. Would it be possible for you to add links to the games you play in the video description? I think it would be really helpful for viewers who are interested in exploring the games further. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Edit: It seems that the demo is unavailable. Apologies if you've said so and I missed it.
This looks cool and cozy, I'd definitely get this if it comes out on the switch!
The environmental design and theme of spirits reminds me of ITTA.
I'll never forget the Sword King and his theme: he had some solid Risk of Rain Providence vibes.
Between what you said about that "need" of having an account for every publisher (it's starting to get TIRING) and that Ubi bigger ups have said, recently, openly that we users should start accepting that the games we buy aren't ours and that should be ok... Ubi feels kinda meh, indeed
I love cats, yes they are evil, in a cute way, but evil.
I have been looking forward to this one. Ran to the Steam store to try the demo only to discover the demo isn’t available yet. Must be for the upcoming Steam Next Fest
Reminds me of the Game Deaths Door! But looks promising so far!
This looks beautiful love the art style
You had me at cat
Hyperlight Drifter vibe(light hearted version)😊😊😊
A free game I would recommend giving a go is "Cave Crawlers". Its a bit bare bones right now but ive enjoyed what ive played.
I have played both "islets" and "sheepo" and are both amazing
Well, if you're looking for a game were you can upgrade your fun chosen equipable thingies it's exactly the latest prince of persia you were talking about (pretty nice game, btw). But I can relate that there are way to much hoops to jump through =(
Very tunic feel i hope it is as good
Tunic is a hard matchup, but I personally enjoyed this more. The greater ability customization and reduced difficulty felt way better to me.
I wonder how the beginning would have changed if you hadn't attacked any of the pots at all after getting the broom.
But wait, actually, you were forced to in order to get there in the first place. Imagine there was a secret passage to not break any and then it led to a secret ending, similar to that one FarCry game where you sit for like 10 minutes at the table with food and get a different ending?
EDIT: Halfway through and seems Wander thought the same thing. 🤣
I would consider it more like a plataformer.
Wait. Is this out?
Islets and Sheepo are fantastic. And this dev is so active and responsive to fans and feedback.
Been waiting for his new game. This game!
I’m on console though. Where is this?
This game is not isometric but 3/4 perspective, or if you want a term with more appeal, maybe top-down is close enough.
I loved cocoon! Did you record the gameplay? Is there a Vod or something?
It's currently just no-commentary footage right now. I might try to cook it together into a review or something though, because it deserves the extra attention.
@@wanderbotsplease do 🙏
@@wanderbots Cocoon totally deserves some more spotlight, such a beautiful and beautifully crafted gem of a game, one can feel the passion that went into it in every single line of code
as a cat owner im appalled
i will tell you though
means cats are products of their owners
Id love to see if there is a way to get in without breaking anything, like if you can jump around the edge or something. Im guessing maybe not but would be cool
Edit huh even you said it lol later in the video😂
Islets is amazing FYI~
Is this by the Sheepo and Islets creator??
Yup!
Soot sprites!
Haha "pot-heads" XD
It's odd they put Metroidvania on their steam tags, it's really not
reminds me of death's door
While I love indie games, I've also never really been the kind of person to compare them to AAA? Like the ever hated Ubisoft games, I honestly love them. I've loved every AC game that's come out, I enjoy most Far Cry games for the same reason, mainly because I know what I'm getting from them I guess. Like Valhalla, for it's faults, has a TON of content that's kept my busy and happy since release day. It's hard to argue that the 80 bucks I spent on Valhalla has gone to waste.
While at the same time indie games really can be a lovely change of scene and show off some crazy new ideas or more bite sized experiences sometimes, othertimes they take just as much time as AAA.
I don't know, for me at least I wouldn't want to have to choose between AAA and indie, they both are extremely enjoyable to me. I guess also I don't expect novilty or dramatic shifts in AAA games from game to game.
This game looks really good though, will throw it on the wishlist for sure!
10/10 just because my cats name is pip
I wouldn't consider Batman a superhero, maybe not even a hero.
Isometric?
Yep It is not ^^
Isometric can be seen from a 45 or 90 degree angle, so it counts. Most people just think of isometric as 45.
I never knew 90 degrees counted, I usually just consider that top down
I thought it was top down. I guess the angle also is important?@@ai._.i
In isometric the angle between any two of them axes is 120 degrees, you can't do that in a top-down perspectibe like the one in the game@@wanderbots
Play MINDUSTRY #1
(Algorithm comment)
How much would you bet that those pots were placed there on purpose.
this isn't isometric it's top down.
Nice game Don't call it metroidvania tho ^^
Looks spammy and a little boring. I hope there's more that I'm missing. I'll keep an eye on it from a distance for now.
SS:KTJL is gonna be a shite show.
While there are a couple things that don't really do it for me, there's not denying it has some extremely well thought-out mechanics. I could see really enjoying this game.
