I guess you just never know with B&M. I previously said that Griffon was way too rattly. My rides 2 weeks ago were smooth, but it rattled for you. Meanwhile, I found Alpengeist glossy smooth last year, but 2 weeks ago, it was very rattly and gave me some headbanging. Apollo has never failed me, so it remains my # 2.

something’s off about griffon i rode it about 9 months ago when you made your comment and it was very rattly and didn’t feel like a 14 year old ride but i rode it last weekend and it feel smooth as can be

@@nicholasbonfiglio820 It seems that it is quite unpredictable. It's not the only B&M that can vary greatly in that way. Maybe the most popular B&M of all was smooth one day, then horribly rattly the next on my last visit.

For me I would rank them like this:
    Elite: 1. Pantheon
    Very Good: 2. Alpengeist 3. Apollo's Chariot 4. Griffon 5 Verbolten
Average: 6. Tempesto 7. InvadR 8. Lochness Monster
    Dumpster Fire: NONE
    Kiddie: 9. Groover's
So basically our rankings are the same but I happen to like Lochness Monster more and you probably like Tempesto more.
    Good list!

  • @moncalimarimoncalimari8964

    My ranking:
8: Invadr - This would be higher but the line was over an hour last time I visited and it was NOT worth the wait.
    7: Tempesto - Average coaster
6: Verbolten - Amazing family coaster
5: Loch Ness Monster - It hasn't aged well but imagine riding this in 1978...
4: Griffon - Best first drop in the entire park but that's mostly it.
3: Apollo's Chariot - It was the first B&M hyper and it is still a great ride
2: Alpengeist - Tallest invert in the world and one of the best
1: Pantheon - One of the few rides able to rival Velocicoaster (once it gets theming, at least)

I was at BGT on July 25 and I definitely had different experiences than you. Loch Ness monster was a fun coaster and I understsnd it's age and ACE landmark, so I mentally got over any jankiness. I found Griffon to be smooth everywhere and I now have it rivaling Shiekra as the best dive coaster. Apollos Chariot was very good, but rougher than I thought. Finally, Alpengiest to me was pure trash. I sat backrow, corner seat and it was very rough and beat me up. I did not expect that at all and came away really disappointed. While the first drop was great and the cobra roll was intense, I couldnt wait for the ride to be over. Afterburn at Carowinds was much better and more enjoyable. I've been on several different B&M inverts and Montu is king by a landslide.

    Elite:
    1. Pantheon - I ended up enjoying this more than I anticipated. Fantastic airtime and is extremely smooth
    Good:
    2. Verbolten - This is just an all-around fun experience. The drop track makes this ride much more unique and is partly why it's placed so high. Plus, I do love a good indoor coaster.
    3. Griffon - I was shocked by how much airtime I got on this ride. The only dive coaster I've ridden prior to this was Valravn which is boring. Griffon was extremely smooth for me, and I flew out of my seat.
    4. InvadR - You HAVE to ride this in the front row. You actually get so much more airtime. I was shocked by how much I loved this ride.
    5. Alpengeist - A fantastic invert coaster, though the mid-course break run ruined the second half of the ride. It was decently smooth but I got some head banging.
    6. Apollo's Chariot - This was the ride I was most disappointed in. I didn't get much airtime and it was very rattly when I rode it.
    7. Tempesto - Fun, but short experience. Still a good coaster.
    Middle of the road:
    8. Loch Ness Monster - By far the best arrow looper I have ridden. I found it very smooth, and it was enjoyable.

BGW is one of my top 5 favorite parks and it would probably be that way even if the coaster collection was mediocre because the overall park experience is so great. That said, they also have one of the highest quality coaster collections if you look at their coasters on average. Grover is pretty cool as kiddie coasters go (though that parents waiting area is too crowded and needs better shade.) I disagree about Loch Ness and find it to be very fun especially in the back seat, though it can be janky. InvadR is really cool in the front row like most GCIs (though underwhelming in other seats.) And the rest of the coasters are excellent in their own regard. I especially love Apollo's Chariot for its more varied layout and setting than most B&M hypercoaster. And Pantheon is a top 10 coaster on earth when you are just looking at the in ride experience and ignoring the atrocious queue line, loading station and theming.
There are parks that have better top two or top three coasters. But very few parks have their entire coaster collection as good as BGW's overall collection.

Since my last visit in 2013, my favorite roller coaster there is Griffon followed by Alpengeist, Big Bad Wolf, Loch Ness Monster, Apollo's Chariot and Verbolten.

  • @PancakeJar_Lover

I went to BGW for the first time ever yesterday, and when I got to Alpengeist, It had a 3 minute wait with only front row and second row with any line. I hopped in the middle row, right seat, and it was incredibly janky. I only rode it twice, and it would be fair to say that I got some bad rides, but what ruined the ride for me was the roughness. As where I put it in my ranking, I put Verbolten, Griffon, Pantheon, and Apollos Chariot as better rides. I came to the conclusion I got bad rides on it, but for my first invert, It was disappointing.

I went on Alpengeist yesterday and had the worst rattling ever. I have never been given a headache on any rollercoaster ever, and that ride did it to me. I love intensity but I've never wanted a ride to end before I rode Alpengeist for the fourth time. It wasn't awful the first three, but for reason, maybe it was where I sat, but I had an awful experience. I'm going to try riding it tomorrow to see if it was a fluke or not.

    @rileykyger8494 Před rokem

I agree with the top 4 placement. BGW is my home park and I got to say I think you must have ridden griffon on a bad day. I’ve ridden that ride well over 100 times including in June this year and I honestly think it is the smoothest coaster over ridden. I’ve never noticed in rattle or jolting or anything. Maybe the forces at the bottom of the drop could have caused the bouncing it pulls a decent amount of g’s there. If any ride has gotten rough it would definitely be Apollo’s Chariot. As much as I want to give that ride credit it is not running good now days. It has a significant rattle after each drop and runs slower than it used to which effects the air time in a negative way. I’m happy to see alpengeist move up though I feel like that is the most underrated invert. It has the best first half of any invert in my opinion. The second half is arguably one of the worst which is why I think it gets overlooked.

Was just at Busch gardens 2 days ago, and I got to say, aplengeist, while it has a decent layout, it’s very jittery and throws you around, my entire family went on it, and we all got headaches afternit

    my ranking:
9: loch ness monster (need to retire it)
8: invadr (a little to rough and subpar layout)
7: dark koaster (90 minute wait but i rode it for the credit, bgw should not have shoved a coaster into such a small ride building
6: tempesto (definition of middle of the road)
5: verbolten (best theming in the park and good drop)
4: alpengeist (good intense invert but starting to show its age
3: griffon (top tier dive and the only ride that genuinely scares me
2: apollo’s chariat ( in my opinion better than nitro and competes with mako)
1: pantheon (back row coming down the top hat is the single best airtime moment ever and the small hill in the swing launch is the second best, finally no feeling beats staring down from the spike
