I just quit man. I was addicted to cigarettes for 10 years, one day I just woke up and decided I’d had enough of them. I hope everybody that is trying to quit is successful. I’m 7 months clean.
So for anyone watching. It doesn't matter how you take in the nicotine, because that's the actual addictive part. Quitting nicotine is very hard no matter how you've taken it. So just remember you're trying to stop taking in nicotine, so if an alternative says "contains nicotine" don't use it. Just cut down what you already use until you're at a point you can just stop. And then it's just keeping your hands and mind busy. To those wanting to quit, you can do it.
I started smoking at 9 years old. Now I'm 44 and have emphysema and COPD. I still can't quit smoking. It's really hard and I know it's gonna kill me if I don't quit. Well, at this point it's gonna kill me either way but if I quit I'll live longer. But, it's still incredibly hard to quit.
I was smoking for over 10 years. Since my teen hood. I went through every possible way of nicotine addiction. I quit several times. First one was because I felt seek, worse than elder people, my head was hurting all time. Second time I got vipassana and tried new way of living. The third and last time, I got Covid. I felt so bad that I decided that it’s the right moment to stop. I’m clean for 4 months now. And I extremely proud of myself. I wanna tell to everyone that addiction is truly hard to overcome. So please be kind to yourself. That’s ok to make mistakes if you dont give up
Man that’s actually me, I was smoking then went to vaping thinking I would do less but ended up vaping 10times more. Decided to try to quit so I went on the patch and transitioned into actual quitting , then something made me super pissed then started smoking cigarettes again. I realized that smoking is more tied to my emotions than the addiction itself.

I smoked 🚬 for over 15 years and how I managed to quit was a slow reduction in how much I smoked from years smoking over half a pack a day in just 3 months I dropped down to a single smoke lasting 3 days and after a month of that as the last stage I just stopped and had zero withdrawals because I had given my brain and body enough time to adjust and rebalance to life without nicotine
I was addicted to different forms for ~10 years. Now I've gone the longest (~2 months) without any inhaled nicotine by getting strong patches and gum. I weaned the patches down and now am off them, while having the gum every so often when I need it, now only 8mg nicotine/day. Likely will stop using altogether soon.
I went through 3 years of cigarettes and a year of vaping. Nastiest habit I ever picked up. I am a couple of days away from being a month completely nicotine free!

switching to less harmful methods is honestly perfectly fine! ideally the goal is no addictions, but replacing one addiction with another less damaging addiction is still a net positive
No… not net positive this is actually a way people reduce cognitive discomfort/dissonance by making it seem like the addiction they have at that moment is more positive than the other possible addictions. As a way to make yourself think there is less harm in your actual addiction, there is healing in the future stopping nicotine addiction is removing the veil in front of it as well speaking from experience the only true peace you can find is in patience and removing the true habit and dealing with the actual issue at hand which is treating nicotine like a crutch
@@cavejakswitching to nicotine gum or patches or even a vape with varying juice mg, works if you log your dosage and usage daily while tapering each day or week. Its proven to work this way but only if you log it and taper
I've done this with my self harm addiction. What's causing my issues can't be solved, so that's not a thing for me. So rather than cutting, I get high (weed, it's legal where I am) and when I can I do so through edibles. Is it the healthiest? No, but it's healthier than what I was doing. Trying to work on my issues but they can't be solved or will take decades to get through. My therapist is aware and she agrees it's not healthy but would prefer seeing me use this coping mechanism than self harm. We've talked about other coping mechanisms but they've begun to stop working.
This is true for so many types of addiction too, the only way I was able to quit nicotine at all was cold turkey, and I went back again multiple times with vaping and all that, the only way I could quit was cold turkey Thankfully nicotine is one of the easiest withdrawals to go through so it’s not that hard. You just gotta get over the mental desire to smoke/vape, because the physical nasties only last a few days max, but the mind game lasts weeks Really all addiction is the same way, the physical withdrawal part is just a tiny portion, the hard part is overcoming the desire to not start up again. It’s hard man, if only life was a little more fair and kind to us addiction wouldn’t be that common 😿🌎
I recently fully quited smoking at once, I have always kinda had a rule of thumb for habits which basically is, that a problem can not be solved by adding something but only by removing the problem
I will say that quitting was one of the hardest but most rewarding things I have done. Seriously, if you're thinking about quitting you're probably not ready. It will always be "the last pack" I remember the day I quit I had one smoke that morning. I put it out. I gave the pack away and I never looked back. The hardest part isn't anything physical. It was all mental. I had an amazing support system through it.
I remember I went to jail for a bit over a month and didn’t think about a cigarette once. Couldn’t tell if the anxiety and irritation was from not smoking or from just being scared of losing my job/apartment/car/gf. Etc. but yeah it honestly pissed me off how easy it was physically. It’s 100% mental for me I’m sure. So many obstacles in my life are mental. Physical struggles always seemed easy compared to what I put myself through mentally. Now knowing this information and using it to better myself is a whole different ballgame. 😅
I quit fetty nine years ago, but I still smoke cigarettes. The reason it’s so hard to quit is because you don’t immediately see what it is doing to you. If fentanyl was just available everywhere and the price of tobacco, I wouldn’t have quit. There is a huge difference though, you won’t try jumping in front of a train to stop the pain of quitting cigarettes. Dope on the other hand….
I quit almost a year ago(in June it’ll be a full year!) I know it’s not a very long time compared to some people, but it took a lot of drive and effort and I am so proud of myself. Quitting nicotine was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I’m happier now. I don’t constantly feel sick. I can enjoy social outings without constantly fiending. Sending my best wishes to anyone who hopes to quit. It’s not easy, but it is so worth it.
The lack of support from the community keeps my fiancé going back to cigarettes, he tells them he's trying to quit and he still gets given cigarettes. Doesn't help that there's smokers everywhere we live, so being given cigarettes turns into asking to bum them and now we're back to buying the damn packs again.
Yep pretty much my whole life😭 not only smoking, vaping, it alternated to exercise addiction, food addiction, sex addiction, etc. I’m getting better recently but it’s quite tiring to be cautious all the time. I was craving for smoke actually, so thanks for the reminder
I tried the whole “I’m gonna vape instead of smoking cigarettes and it’ll make it easier to quit!” thing and now I’m just fully addicted to vapes, which is worse than my cigarette addiction because I can hit this thing literally anywhere 😭
And it's significantly more dangerous. Your body can filter smoke out eventually. But vaporized hot oil CANNOT be filtered out. It just sits in your lungs.
Patches are the only way I quit smoking without losing my mind. The mental cravings I could deal with. The physical withdrawal was 100 times worse. Luckily, it passed pretty quickly.
I work in a vape shop and i spend hours every day researching differnt aspects of the industry and talking with people either trying to stop nicotine use or just quit cigarettes. The entire Nicotine industry is shady in so many places for example the Truth Ads we see about vaping are paid for by Tobacco companies. The big thing i like to touch on with everyone who comes into my shop is explaining that in reality you have 2 addictions when you smoke or vape. Being the Nicotine addiction and the actual hand to mouth motion. Getting rid of both is really hard for alot of people so we focus on elimating the nicotine by offering custom nicotine all the way down to 0 which helps people whiddle down and control their nicotine content. Once we have elimated the nicotine aspect people either A. Stick with 0 because they enjoy it or B. Go to some other hand to mouth fixation i generally recomend gum, suckers, or hard candies
Best to just not start. But I grew up in the 90's, so... I smoked for years. Tried to quit so many times. Two friends switched to vapes to quit, so I tried it. Quit cigs, used the vape for about 3 months. It's been 5 or 6 years now. Still, best to just not start.
That doesn't help, students of universities still smoke, if you enter the university someone is going to be smoking there, inviting you to do the same. You can't just say, "Oh it was the 90's, it's not my fault". It's great that you are free of that. My dad used to smoke when i was a kid and I can't pretend I don't like the smell of that smoke, but still I don't want to smoke cigs or vape anything.
@lorenzomautino3708 yeah its getting really annoying. Making excuses whilst simultaneously ignoring the fact it doesn't matter and would've smoked regardless
I have a friend who's been going through this exact cycle for years now minus the pipe and Sherlock Holmes outfit 😂 He went from cigarettes to vapes to pouches to patches to nicotine gum then back to cigarettes and now he's vaping again.
Studies show that the long term health effects from vaping are 95% less harmful than cigarettes. Obviously it's better to do neither, but making vapes sound like they're worse is genuinely harmful to smokers trying to quit or be healthier.
For anyone trying to quit; I had the best results from the nicotine lozenges. The generic small lozenges from Walmart, they come with a sheet that helps you stay on track to quit. I alternated addictions till I was doing them all at the same time.
if you want to quit you just quit. you don't take any kind of shit for it. if you managed to quit it was because you actually wanted to not because some stupid medicin. you should actually stay away from all nicotine products if you are trying to quit smoking as that's gonna be your best chance of actually quiting. you can only quit once you actually want to quit. people think they want to quit but usualy they don't which is why they fail. they like the ide of quiting but don't want to really do it deep down.
This hits me. I got into vaping thinking it would help me quit cigs and I smoke Kools. I do both now granted I go through a pack of cigs in 3days, soon as I finish a cig boom vaping all day and damn I vape like crazy without even realizing it. I tell my self enough is enough but never seem to stop. I'm going on 2weeks no vape and literally 2cigs a day. I'm trying my damn hardest
Vaping does help you quit nicotine. It helped me! You can’t quit on gas station vapes but if you get a pod vape or a mod you can quit by slowly lowering your nicotine level to zero nicotine vape juice. Then it’s a matter of quitting the habit of putting something up to your mouth which can be replaced with something good like drinking more water
The pouches actually were the only thing that helped me get to a level i could hop off nicotine from after 20 years of smoking/vaping. Can't recommend them enough, but you have to be willing to work on reducing your use or yes you are just alternating. It's going to be uncomfortable, and that is okay. It's okay to be a little uncomfortable from time to time, it will pass. I'm over a year off nicotine completely now.
I read Allen Carr's the Easy Way To Quit ... and after 14 years I quit smoking. I tried the patch, vape, dip, ...cold turkey with a book was the answer.
As a person that smoked cigarettes from age 16 to 39 and used a vape to stop. Even with the vape I had 3 months of withdrawal and that was the inability to do any normal tasks like reading concentrating pretty much anything. My brain seemed broke. Even after the three months. I still from time to time think about it. Health wise vaping helped clear my chest out of the phlegm. I actually think I can stop vaping without help from another nicotine product, just candy. I have been skeptical about this because of the few moments where I feel I could break. They are further in-between now, and hopefully will get there.
It’s the route I’m taking to getting clean, the path looks different for everyone. After smoking for half my life I didn’t think it was possible for me not to smoke/vape, I’ve tried to quit on 8 different occasions. Been on zyns for 2 months before switching to a brand that goes as low as 1mg for their pouches, didn’t notice any withdrawals when going down and now I don’t feel like I need to rip something 24/7 or I’m going to rip someones head off…. Worked for me, don’t get why people are hating on it when it’s been proven through a bunch of different studies switching to an oral method/or the patch makes you like 2-3x more likely to actually quit smoking long term…
I’m 21 right now but started vaping when I was 16 a couple weeks ago I was severely dehydrated and had problems breathing. Anyways I’ve stopped smoking since then and now damn near a month already off it. And I feel great anyone else going through it out there in the shit sucks but it’s really worth stopping.
Over the last year, I’ve gone from: 50 salt nic 25 salt nic 6mg regular nic 3mg regular nic Now I’m 2 weeks on FÜM, and officially 2 weeks nicotine free for the first time in 6 years.
I quit nicotine about 1 month ago. I haven’t smoked or vaped since. My lungs feel better, I don’t have shortness of breath, I’m not constantly coughing up a lung. I feel fantastic, and I absolutely hate it 😂 I wanna go back to smoking so bad, but I made a promise to myself that I would never go back and I’m sticking to it
I was smoking for three years, i finally decided that enough was enough and i decided to quit cold turkey. Its been around 2 weeks now, and honestly its been easier than i thought itd be. Sure i have cravings every now and again but theyre honestly tame as hell. Hopefully i keep strong, wish me luck i know i got a long while to go.

Very pretty #3 seems like the best option. i hope you have fun!
“You’re dressed like Sherlock Holmes, if he was a train conductor.” 😭😭😭
I love how he still went outside for the patches
That’s ok to make mistakes if you dont give up
The “HYDE” with a slight voice crack 😭
Man that’s actually me, I was smoking then went to vaping thinking I would do less but ended up vaping 10times more. Decided to try to quit so I went on the patch and transitioned into actual quitting , then something made me super pissed then started smoking cigarettes again. I realized that smoking is more tied to my emotions than the addiction itself.
Bro that's still called an addiction.
@@pagatryx5451 no shit can you read ?😂I never said it wasn’t 🤣I said it’s tied to my emotions more than the ADDICTION ITSELF . Implying that I’m saying it’s an addiction.
Man, don't use disposables or those crap pod things. Get you a subohm vape that uses 18650 batteries and make your own juice. Is it gonna help you quit? Maybe. You can taper the nicotine amount. Either way, it's 15 bucks a month instead of 300$+ a month
@@alexboehmer6888 Yeah I don't think you understand what addictions are...
They're always heavily influenced by emotions and mental fortitude. All the alcoholics I know are depressed and suicidal. Having weak mental health makes you more prone to addiction.
@@alexboehmer6888ahhh well that was your first mistake, thinking that people will understand what you're saying on the internet 😂
Nah but I hope you can get out of your life at some point, ive been dealing with similar problem, tho Ive ended up with a nicotine pouch addiction thats slowly destroying my gums 😅
You're doing awesome ! Keep the great work
Keep going strong, fam! You can do it.
you'll relapse soon

"Ya I kinda lost the plot" bro realest words ever😂
Cant stop but surely future me will 🔥🔥
😂😂 this is so true and now I need to go smoke.
switching to less harmful methods is honestly perfectly fine! ideally the goal is no addictions, but replacing one addiction with another less damaging addiction is still a net positive
Using the word 'positive' when referring to a "less damaging addiction" 😂
@@jsml337g05u “net positive” means less bad than the previous situation. nicotine patches are much better than smoking
Breaking character at the end
This is true for so many types of addiction too, the only way I was able to quit nicotine at all was cold turkey, and I went back again multiple times with vaping and all that, the only way I could quit was cold turkey
Thankfully nicotine is one of the easiest withdrawals to go through so it’s not that hard. You just gotta get over the mental desire to smoke/vape, because the physical nasties only last a few days max, but the mind game lasts weeks
Really all addiction is the same way, the physical withdrawal part is just a tiny portion, the hard part is overcoming the desire to not start up again.
It will always be "the last pack"
I remember the day I quit I had one smoke that morning.
Same. Quit 7 years ago this year.
Doesn't help that there's smokers everywhere we live, so being given cigarettes turns into asking to bum them and now we're back to buying the damn packs again.
ryan’s laugh and smile is so cute omg
Yep pretty much my whole life😭 not only smoking, vaping, it alternated to exercise addiction, food addiction, sex addiction, etc. I’m getting better recently but it’s quite tiring to be cautious all the time. I was craving for smoke actually, so thanks for the reminder
This is so accurate 😂
the first time I've seen them break character and it was perfect.

That’s Hyde
I tried the whole “I’m gonna vape instead of smoking cigarettes and it’ll make it easier to quit!” thing and now I’m just fully addicted to vapes, which is worse than my cigarette addiction because I can hit this thing literally anywhere 😭
Treat it like a cigarette. Like, make as if it were forbidden (or just rude) to vape indoors.
There's like flavored air pipes. Do those work?
The only people who hit vapes literally anywhere are people who don't give a shit about anyone but themselves
@@Amadis691I mean it definitely is kinda rude
And it's significantly more dangerous. Your body can filter smoke out eventually. But vaporized hot oil CANNOT be filtered out. It just sits in your lungs.
Wow Ryan 😊 that ending was so cute
This is so true
Patches are the only way I quit smoking without losing my mind. The mental cravings I could deal with. The physical withdrawal was 100 times worse. Luckily, it passed pretty quickly.
The dedication Hyde has to the videos is amazing
Wow this is so accurate holy shit. Literally me
hope you get better soon
Making excuses whilst simultaneously ignoring the fact it doesn't matter and would've smoked regardless
this gives me MAJOR its always sunny vibes i love it
None at all
I have a friend who's been going through this exact cycle for years now minus the pipe and Sherlock Holmes outfit 😂 He went from cigarettes to vapes to pouches to patches to nicotine gum then back to cigarettes and now he's vaping again.
Ending was so gold
as a famous drag queen once said, “smoking is embarrassing, vaping is humiliating.”
It's a famous Russian proverb.
Your dad just calls her Katya
Being a drag queen is shameful
Studies show that the long term health effects from vaping are 95% less harmful than cigarettes. Obviously it's better to do neither, but making vapes sound like they're worse is genuinely harmful to smokers trying to quit or be healthier.
as a less famous family regular guy once said, "stop caring what other people think."
For anyone trying to quit; I had the best results from the nicotine lozenges. The generic small lozenges from Walmart, they come with a sheet that helps you stay on track to quit.
I alternated addictions till I was doing them all at the same time.
i had the same experience except gum instead of lozenges but same deal. the calendar thingy was pretty helpful
I've used nicotine lozenges as a medicine for my IBS. There's no significant addiction potential in those things. Quitting tea would be harder.
if you want to quit you just quit. you don't take any kind of shit for it. if you managed to quit it was because you actually wanted to not because some stupid medicin. you should actually stay away from all nicotine products if you are trying to quit smoking as that's gonna be your best chance of actually quiting. you can only quit once you actually want to quit. people think they want to quit but usualy they don't which is why they fail. they like the ide of quiting but don't want to really do it deep down.
So don't even try starting smoking, no matter how much you want it, and no matter how much you think it will help you or you need it, guys.
The last fuckin line is sooooo good
“I completely lost the plot” fuckin A I’ve never had to hold in laughter this hard
Grace is such a great actress she kills it as the pipe!
that was the best smile i think my eyes have ever witnessed
Vaping does help you quit nicotine. It helped me! You can’t quit on gas station vapes but if you get a pod vape or a mod you can quit by slowly lowering your nicotine level to zero nicotine vape juice. Then it’s a matter of quitting the habit of putting something up to your mouth which can be replaced with something good like drinking more water
"Hold on I have one more thing in the plan. I'm gonna placebo myself into believing that nicotine doesn't actually do anything by sucking on a kazoo."
Props to Grace putting her all in this short, her role as the glass door was really good 😤😤😤
The pouches actually were the only thing that helped me get to a level i could hop off nicotine from after 20 years of smoking/vaping. Can't recommend them enough, but you have to be willing to work on reducing your use or yes you are just alternating. It's going to be uncomfortable, and that is okay. It's okay to be a little uncomfortable from time to time, it will pass. I'm over a year off nicotine completely now.
Been through all these stages plus nicotine gum currently back on the patch for the 3rd time goddamn accurate skit haha

This gives Jake and Amir energy and i love it
Saw this at the perfect time cause i quit nic a exactly month ago (ik that’s not long but im proud of myself), and before I quit this was lowk me 😭😭
It’s the route I’m taking to getting clean, the path looks different for everyone.
Yea I’ve been using half a price of nic gum to help I feel u

I’m 21 right now but started vaping when I was 16 a couple weeks ago I was severely dehydrated and had problems breathing. Anyways I’ve stopped smoking since then and now damn near a month already off it. And I feel great anyone else going through it out there in the shit sucks but it’s really worth stopping.
