Is It Worth the Hype? | 2025 GMC HUMMER EV PICKUP | The Ultimate Electric Beast Revealed

This all-electric marvel originally launched as a pickup truck in 2023 and now includes a stylish SUV variant. The Hummer EV pickup boasts a five-passenger cab with a 5-foot bed, stretching to a total length of 217 inches. Meanwhile, the SUV variant, though shorter in wheelbase, still measures a hefty 207 inches. With the seats up, the SUV offers 35.9 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to a massive 81.8 cubic feet when the seats are down.
And let's not forget that adjustable suspension, offering up to 16 inches of ground clearance and water fording capabilities. The base Hummer EV 2X is driven by two electric motors generating 570 horsepower, delivering an impressive EPA-estimated range of 303 miles. All-wheel drive? Standard across the board. With a towing capacity of up to 12,000 pounds for models with two motors, this truck means business. The pickup version has a payload capacity of 1,485 pounds.
Step up to the 3X package, and you get a third motor in the rear, boosting total output to a staggering 1,000 horsepower. The range also jumps to 381 miles. The 3X can tow up to 8,500 pounds, with the pickup variant capable of towing 1,300 pounds. GMC claims the Hummer EV gains 100 miles of range in just 12 minutes at a Level 3 public charging station. Fuel consumption for both the pickup and SUV is estimated at 53 MPGe combined by the EPA.
The Hummer EV comes packed with nearly every driver assistance feature GM has to offer. We're talking automatic parking, a rearview camera mirror, and automatic emergency braking with front and rear radar. The UltraVision camera system gives you up to 18 views from external cameras. The SuperCruise system, offering hands-free highway driving. For 2025, we don't anticipate major changes, just some minor tweaks to keep things fresh. Currently, prices for the 2X pickup and SUV start at $98,845, including delivery. The 3X versions start from $106,945. GMC usually holds off on the more expensive 3X limited edition until a bit later, so keep an eye out for that in 2025.
The Hummer EV is up against some fierce competition, including the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, Rivian R1S, and the Mercedes-Benz EQE. Each brings something unique to the table, but the Hummer EV's blend of power, luxury, and tech makes it a standout. Dealers are expected to start taking orders for the 2025 Hummer EV early next year. Given the high demand, be prepared for a bit of a wait, as delivery could take several months.
