Putting a used front end on a 2019 Yukon Denali rebuild

  • I lucked out and found a complete used front end for the Yukon. It was much cheaper than piecing it together with used or new parts. It was a short drive to Michigan to pick it up at a yard I have used for over 20 years. Now that the parts are here we can get them edged in and back on the truck. Once the front end is lined up we can get the doors apart for the painting gnomes to do their part. I found some cheap mechanical parts that we needed and believe it or not, they were from the dealer. Who knew?

My favorite part of your videos is the calmness, quiet and relaxing, you're so methodical and detailed. You could almost give any typical person the impression their crashed vehicle could be towed home and fixed right in the garage all by themselves. LOVE IT!

GM discovered that the windshield washer fill bottle needed to be removed to get to the battery long ago. My 1997 Lumina had that feature, it was a thoughtful design feature I discovered the first time I needed to replace the battery which for some reason failed before the windshield washer bottle ever started leaking. I am sure mine was the first to ever have that happen and they thoughtfully kept that feature 22 years later. It is nice to see that engineering continues to understand things like that.

You make it look so methodical that I am thinking even I can do it. But that is delusion. Great job. also, your statement at 14:17 fits right in with a suggestion I was going to make. On the door badge, move the 'I" in Denali to before the "greatvehicle

Scott this going to be a money maker. Very beautiful truck. Couple of things. Years ago i worked buy my self and hoods could be a pain. I used the Styrofoam corners that came on parts to keep corners from getting bent.
Question the saftey clips ( red ones) can you take a second and show me how they come apart .
Cant wait to see this one done.
You probably can let mom drive this a little while and make money.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS

Very interesting seeing an entire front clip in one piece like that. Great that you got it so easily. Sometimes things just work out well.
Next Friday is Christmas day, so maybe no video next week? The following Friday is New Years Day, so maybe no video then?
Hope you have a great Christmas and a prosperous New Year. All the best from Queensland Australia.
