These guys were amazing, able to sing a love song with out foul language and making a public spectacle of themselves, true men and gentlemen and musicians
Love songs are written with foul language.
YEP
People say that i live in the past because i listen to 70s music everyday but in my defense how can you not... These gentleman had class and talent. ❤❤❤❤
39 years later and still, no one has a voice like that
He is still singing at 70 years old and his videos are all over you tube doing all his songs from the past Stylistics. Find Russell Thompkins jr and New Stylistics.
48 years and counting…. 👑The King of the Falsetto 👑
by far the best soul group of the 70s with the magical voice of RUSSELL THOMPKINS
only in the 70,s real songs, real soul groups, never to be repeated
That's him! Russell Thompkins jr, lead singer for the Stylistics for over 33 years. Still singing today at 70 years old. Voice still amazing...check him out on you tube. Russell Thompkins jr and new Stylistics. Betcha Bye Golly Wow!! 🎶🎤🎶
Flawless performance! Amazing how Russell Thompkins Jr. could sing all those high notes with no apparent effort at all.
Incrível mesmo
This lead singer for the Stylistics has a smooth ass phenomenal voice for sure !!
Espetacular performance do Russel Tompkson Jr e demais componentes do Stylistics, muito bom
Live'....no special effects from Russell. No voice problems that have to be computer " fixed".... pure golden voice. He recorded this alone without these stage steppers. The background was pro studio singers. If the background sounds different that's why. Russell was the Voice that made the Stylistics famous for 35 years. He has had his own Russell Thompkins and NEW Stylistjcs since he dropped out.
Total class and choreography to boot. We took this for granted, those of us who grew up back in the day and expected coordinated live music with synchronized performances. A+ and oh how I miss these special days.
So true. Loved the bands that danced Even tried to mimic all the moves but couldn't do it
Thank you for posting this video. Still loving the Stylistics in 2023. Always will ❤
Stylistics, Spinners, Delphonics, Manhattans, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, just way too
many amazing artists from this era to list. Just incredible!
"You're the one that I've waiting for forever..."
The Chi-lites , The Moments , The Dells 🎶 🎷 🎹 🎸 December. 6 , 2019
Russell Thompkins jr was the Stylistics.! He sang every song for 30 years. Now has his own Russell Thompkins jr and new Stylistics. Look for his concerts on you tube. Still sounds fantastic at 70. Looks like the steppers got their moves in first part of video from watching Blue Magic. Very different for tbem! 🎶🎤🎶
The days when people actually sang and harmonized. You had to know how to sing. This is the perfect love song.
2019 Who's still watching??
Como no escucharla si es maravillosa 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I am watching in 2020
A trip down memory lane. What a magnificent singer really reaches into the soul. As I only found my forever love. Late in life. But I am grateful. John.
Falsetto isn't easy to do and Russell was certainly one of the best. Just an absolutely beautiful voice.
I feel in head over heels in love with my husband when he sang this song on a baseball play ground. I feel in love with a voice and it turned out to be him.. the love of my life... This song will always be special to me... and there are no words for the talent that the Stylistics have, God Bless them all....
One of the greatest vocal groups of all time. Clean, crisp classic.
Absolutely beautiful song !! An incredible group!!!
My sister and I used to attend their concerts in Chicago. Those were the Good Ole days.
RIP Joann Smith, my dear Sister..
What a Golden Age of Soul Music ! Takes me back, like I know it takes so many here. The sounds that came out of Philadelphia in those years were unbelievable! Lyrics, harmonies, orchestrations, melodies, quality of singing.... outstanding.
Tears came to my eyes brought back the days youth
I grew up with this music, and had no way of knowing then (pre-internet) just how young these brothers were when these songs were recorded. Russell was only 21 years old when he laid down this track, and just 24 in the above clip! Unbelievable man, simply unbelievable.
One of my favorite Stylistics songs. Sensitive rendering of such poetic lyrics. This is why The Stylistics are one of my very favorite RnB/Soul groups. Classy is such an understatement.
Fantastic music of my youth, sad to think that my son or daughter not interested in 70s RnB😎
I remember this song so well. This one, and "You Make Me Feel Brand New" were the only songs I really loved from the 70's. At the time, I was still into the oldies, but I loved hearing the Stylistics on the radio!! Beautiful music.
One of Philadelphia's best...........
I can't even imagine a world without the sound of the Stylistics gracing it..........
They’re the best of them all
OMG. Stylistic 🎶Fabulous
You don't have to. Look up Russell Thompkins jr and New Stylistics. Concert from Houston that has it all for over hour & half.
classic so glad I grew up in this generation that voice sends chills to me 😊
+Karoline Smail I agree, can listen to this over and over, stunning!
karoline Small well said
such style
Total class the stylistics and the drifters you won't beat these 2 groups both had lead singers with a outstanding voices saw both groups live and they were absolutely brilliant
Ahhh... Went back 45 years and it was filled with sweet memories.... Great music!!!!
I was so fortunate to have grown up during the 70's. Man did we dance to these songs. The Stylistics were my favorite group of all times.
of all the women I went thru this song I sang to my daughter to make her smile. I would still hold her and sing it and she's 22! A father's love is boundless...
Where did THIS style of music disappear to? Nobody has ever topped the Stylistics in my eyes for R&B ... This NEVER gets old for me
That's what real music sounds like
???
meaning that they actually have talent and not every song is talking about bitches and hoes.
It shoot my feeling back to my first love. Luvuditto wish you read this!!!
It's beautiful isn't it. What lovely vocals
Love soul music
when true music was a poetry
Indeed
I fall in love with my wife deeper and deeper every time I listen to this song.
I love the beauty of love songs. .. a genre never forgotten.
Love the dance steps! Russell's voice is flawless... it's a shame artists these days, can't sing like that.
Livethegoodlife16
Choreography was "tight" back in the day, because usually the orchestra, and/or band was onstage with you, and if you had 5 (or 10 like we did) singing and dancing you had about 4 sq ft inside which you could move/dance. Sigh - I MISS the 70s (showing my age...)
or sing like that
Livethegoodlife16 preach !
Livethegoodlife16 absolutely xx 😘
My favourite Stylistics track, still performing in 2021! And I live the fact they dress in smart costumes to entertain their publib. Superb.
This is pure wonderfulness. No additives or enhancers to these gentlemen. This is true real music.
I love my black brothers. Extremely talented and a treasure.
So many years ago but it still moves me😍
This performance is further evidence to me that Russell Thompkins Jr. is the greatest falsetto voice ever. His delivery is effortless and flawless. Fantastic group. They should be up there in stature a little higher than they are as far as I'm concerned.
True!!
This music can be heard for many more years to come, and not miss a beat. It's so smooth to the soul. Today music I betcha by golly will not go strong. The Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus etc etc will be forgotten trust..Their music is like vapor. It will fade away soon...
I didn't even know Miley Cyrus sings =p
It's very rare to find a live performance by the original Stylistics. There should be more from this show.
The Mike Douglas show had some good ones. You and me. Among several others.
Real music! I'm so glad I grew up with these amazing music. Love it
Stylistics is the best group ever,,WOW! their voices are so soothing,,the lead singer's voice can never be duplicated, I fall in love every time I hear their songs!
Lead singer is Russell Thompkins ...and no he can never be duplicated.
There's a spark of magic in your eyes......candyland appears each time you smile'...wow they don't write em like that anymore....pure peotry
I'm a a 60 year parent of an 18 year old son. I asked him tonight, "What popular music will you remember your high school years by?" He said "There isn't any I would ever want to hear again." Folks, I may sound like an old toot, but we've got a problem. This music, this singing, this choreography, this professional showmanship makes me realize how low we've sunk. Thanks to the Stylistics, the Delphonics, the Spinners, and the many others I haven't mentioned that respected women and humanity.
Thanks.
Never got to see them in their prime LIVE like this, in a "supper club" setting no less. How civil, genteel, and professional. To say nothing of the obvious talent on display.
Man, I was 3 yrs old when this song came out. Yet, I love this type of music. Man, we don't have music like this anymore. I remember my parents having parties at the house playing these tunes. Good Times! Thanks for sharing!
So genuine, they are not up there with thier britches hanging around thier thighs, hats on sideways saying gibberish that is vulgar, offensive and violent. Just music, wholesome and the synchronicity! Love, love, love it!
So true. Class, talent & style
He is still singing these very same songs and New albums today. At 70 years old and doing great.
This song KILLS ME! The best love song EVER to be written. What s killer voice.... Makes me happy and sad for the memories it holds for me. NO AUTO TUNE HERE BABY!! I have this on my IPOD and play it in my car all the time...♥️♥️♥️
@bpwarrior
Thanks for comments.
I agree.Life dipends on what kind of music.this kind of music is so emotinal and impression.love it
I love this song. Only time I heard them sing it live. Pretty good.
Man I love this group!
Nothing like the Stylistics to take you back in time !!
I thought they were called " Blue Magic " ? ....I'm confused
I know that's right!
@@hebrew26commandmentspower55 They are two separate groups.
I saw them in Sacramento. I was in the front row mesmerized, it brought tears to my eyes.
Not Blue Magic. That lead singer was and is Ted Mills. This was the Srylistics with Russell Thompkins jr lead singer for 30 years. 🎶❣🎶
One of my favorite soul groups from the seventies. Loved their music and always will. This music never grows old.
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG, AWESOME GROUP AND VOICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Candyland appears each time you smile". What a beautiful line! This song and performance is just gorgeous.
Muito suave, linda demais. Cresci ouvindo, adoro a banda The stylistics, e chego à maturidade mais apaixonada ainda, por essa belíssima canção. Mãos de Deus regendo uma das vozes mais abençoadas deste mundo. Amo!
They are just incredible. I saw them live about 8 years ago. The same lead singer was there only he had a lot shorter haircut and some gray of course. He sounded exactly the same. He say every song exactly as he did back in the 70's. I was complete floored. Ray, Goodman & Brown were there and 3 other oldies group. It was a blast from the past. I still have the Stylistics' CD in my car and listen to it from time to time. Thanks for the great music fellas.
I remember our graduation class of 1972 six grade singing this song
I had forgotten how much I missed the Stylistics. I was in High School and my best friend and I loved them. When I graduated, she signed my yearbook with the lyrics to "You Make Me Feel Brand New". The mid to late 70's were a good time to grow up, and I enjoyed the song so much, lots of memories!!!! Thanks for putting it out here!!!
im a 39 year year old woman from ireland, i grew up listening 2 d 4 tops, stylisitics, etc i just luv dis music, im shocked when my daughter sings along wit me a and my mam, must run in d family :)))))
The Sylistics should be named an institution. The name would be Fantastic. Absolutely one of the best vocal groups of all time. The songs all had real worth of love and peace. Where did we go wrong today? Just love the tender high notes. So wonderful. God bless the boys.
I miss these days with the real sound of Soul , love this , thanks for posting , The Stylistics got it going on , just look at those -in rhythm and time moves - ...Classic !!
This has been my favorite song for 40 years!! Love The Stylistics!! I never get tired of hearing this song.
The one with the falsetto or high pitch voice, I can't get enough of, such an angelic voice, on a soul level
🌹⚘💋WE ARE REMINISCING BACK WHEN CLASSIC MUSIC HAD A VERY REALISTIC POETIC MEANING AND IT WAS MADE SO BEAUTIFULLY THAT IT STILL CONTINUE'S TO CAPTIVATE US.
THANK'S FOR ENTERTAINING US.

General Mayhem I'm working on it
Mr. Lawson they never got the props! Classics,Timeless, and Evergreen music last forever! They stand the test of time! I'm sure it wasn't plan to happen this way! Sometimes the unplanned are the best!
My favorite group of the 70's
Russell's the BEST TENOR FALSETTO VOICE EVER
One of the most consistent groups of the 1970's - Never knew them do a bad song.
They haven't invented the words to say how much I LOVE THEIR SONGS. Be so proud for touching so many.
Several of their songs make me go numb whenever I listen to them. They were total class and a flawless talent.
People who dislike their music must have no soul.
This song, this group will live forever! Immortal words "Betcha by Golly Wow!"

A beautiful song from my childhood that still means so much. Thank you posting for all of us!
Absolutely talented group. Love their music always
Just downright masterful singing-simply the best-brings tears to this preachers eyes-Heart and soul.
Pastor E.T.P
Every time I listen to this song it brings tears to my eyes, as I think about the happy and wonderful times that I grew up in listening to music like this one and among many other wonderful music and artist. Our children will never know or see beautiful times like the ones I've enjoyed growing up in the 60's, 70's, and the 80's. Sad, sad, sad!!!
É lindo demais!!! Assisto sempre! ❤️
They never really got the props they deserved!
+Willie Lawson True Willie, It had a lot to choose from back then as just about everyone was talented. But they and Blue Magic make u want to hold your baby tight and never let go.
Fight Back Media Group I love them!!! I agree. Alittle before my time. This was always an oldie to me;) there were so many awesome groups around that same time and many legends!
Shanna Folden bom
Fight Back Media Group they didn't but we know how truly great they are.

Adoro esse grupo
What a Great version of this beautifully done song. Don't ever take it off, too many memories. Thanks for posting it.
Thank God for this video ! We need to see and hear those classic and monumental groups with excellent lyrics , style, and vocals. I can't get enough of them! Been addicted since '72. And it's never been the same.
If you need a definition of falsetto, this is it. No one better.
Linda! Linda música. Cavaleiros da Música...Só Saudades..."A mágica em meus olhos..." "Um gênio nas estrelas"...Lindo!
I was a baby at that time ... but I grew up listening to these beautiful songs .... Love
I can see why Prince would cover this tune. It's so soulful, and so real. The singing groups today couldn't even come close to this level of soul. Nice going, guys!
Beautiful song... Wish the songs I grew up with were still around...
Me too !
They are still around. 2021. Russell Thompkind Jr and New Stylistics. You tube. Concerts' go look them up.
Absolutely out of this world what an outstanding voice could listen to him always ❤
Awesome groups and singers. It takes me back to my teenage years 50 & 60 ) . Still have some of them . I'm so grateful for I'm from that time. We had good times dancing and singing after school, before our parents came back from work. Thanks again to all of you too, for being there and enjoying it with me. God bless the old times. I'm 74 and enjoying it everyday . 🤗
