I love the way you explain things and you make everything so easy and comprehensive. I love Indian origin and I value everything you say and recommend. I have even passed it on to my patients. Hello Dr. Fuhrman. I am your faithful subscriber that always gives you a thumbs-up. Would you know if fresh caught Alaskan Salmon is any safer than the fish you mentioned? I travel to Alaska every July and ship back all the salmon I have caught and enjoy an 8 oz serving along with organic steam vegetables only once per week . Other than this weekly meal I only consume a plant based diet without any oil. Thank you in advance for your response, Jason.

    Good timing of this video. As a nutritarian, I have been thinking of how best to up my protein now that I am in my wiser years. I was thinking about wild salmon once or twice a week. As a food, it doesn't interest me at all. I just wanted the Omega 3s, astaxanthin and protein. I'll stick with my lentils and beans...🙂

    I'd not eat seafood the grew in the contaminated waters off New Jersey or New York where Dr Fuhrman lives. I would eat fish from CLEAN freshwater habitats especially. Sockeye salmon from clean AK and BC waters are probably quite safe. I know we monitor this in the pristine freshwater habitats we create. Water from clean aquifers and the very aerobic habitats we create are going to produce very safe fish and freshwater shellfish. With that said, there will be a threshold below which Arsenic is benign. That should have been mentioned here.

    Nothing is perfect and we do the best we can . Tofu and tempeh are packaged in plastic , Bragg's aminos and ketchup that Dr. Furhman is using in his recipes are not ideal too , organic produce is being polluted during transportation , dye for hair ( as Dr. Furhman is using ) or the make up his daughter is using are not healthy and is being absorbed in the scalp/skin , etc . People who eat perfectly ALL the time get sick if they eat only 1 exceptional fast food meal . I think that what really counts is the diet you eat day in day out , not the 1 steak you would eat once every 2 months that wouldn't make any difference. I eat WFPB no oil , no salt ( next thing I've learnt i was iodine deficient and it started affecting my thyroid) so now i cheat once in awhile and don't agonize over it .

      Errrrrr excuse me but you are now going into I am better than what you are advocating Doc.
      You don't know she's wearing toxic makeup or are you a family friend?
      You don't know he's dying his hair and if he is there are those that are less toxic
      Yes tofu is wrapped in plastic but I'd rather take it off than consume it!!! Duh!
      Braggs aminos has an issue perhaps yes (pH naughty naughty Furhman should know better to use it)
      If you get sick after one fast food meal what does that tell you... 1) don't be so frigging healthy or 2) the fast food is really that sh#t after all? People want their cake and to eat it!!!!
      Iodine deficient so you have to cheat, really!!!!!!!! Take an iodine supplement far easier to fix along with a Brazil nut for selenium oh and eat more lentils and certain beans high in iron and boost it with vit c. Get enough zinc hemp seeds have approx 25% of daily requirement in 2 tbsp.
      As Dr Mcdougall says loud and proud, "people like to hear good news about their bad habits.
      I applaud you for what yiu are doing already. Its tremendous 👏 but don't spout rubbish without understanding what you are saying with FACTS not BELIEFS that may or may not be true.
      If you're not intending to be perfect then cut him some slack for having a bit of braggs aminos. Personally I don't. I usevlow sodium soy sauce

    Thank you! I love the nutritarian diet and recipes so much, however I am not a big fan of having to take several daily supplements as I would rather get it from food so I don’t eat total vegan all the time to hopefully avoid the need for supplements. Do we know long term effects of taking supplements that are recommended?

    • @drfuhrman
      @drfuhrman  Před rokem +3

      Yes, I only recommend supplemental ingredients that have been studied long term and do not take a chance with our health. The right supplemental ingredients can be beneficial to your long term health, and a blood test will confirm if anything is lacking. Take a look at all the research and the reference list to review the studies here: www.drfuhrman.com/blog/223/why-take-a-multivitamin

    I have lived like Dr. Fuhrman most of my life, but always included wild sockeye three times a week. It is the best diet, hands down. Don't be afraid of fish and toxins. You could say the same about every food - cadmium in soy (record levels in tofu), arsenic in brown rice, acrylamide in blackstrap molasses, mycotoxins on oat bran. The ALS connection is not applicable to the general public and regular consumption of fish like wild salmon and sardines. It is just time to admit salmon is OK!

    • @fallon8376
      @fallon8376 Před rokem +3

      Algae oil! You must not rely on flax, chia, and hemp solely for your omegas as they only contain omega precursors which are not highly convertible in the body. Research shows they are not enough to maintain favourable blood omega levels that are needed to prevent brain shrinkage as we age. So Dr F says to take additional omegas in a supplement.
