Your home sounds like it will be lovely and I know that custom building is not an easy task. Just wanted to say that as an industry professional, we are seeing new home developers, builders and interior designers moving rapidly away from the neutral white, black, and grey for interiors. The trends happening in our area for 2023 is color… sage greens, shades of golds, tropical blues, bold wallpapered rooms, natural and sustainable materials, and lots and lots of personality in furnishings and art. Definitely darker walls which create more of a coziness in rooms. And the open concept great room - kitchen combo is on its way out. It appears people really do want a separate dining room - living room once again. Design trends cycle every 10 - 15 years so what’s old will be new again! Good luck with your build!

It is good that you are measuring. We had a custom home built and had lots of issues. They estimated the foundation incorrect and our house was 3 blocks high on one side and five on the other. It was Florida and flat. They had to pay for the mistake. We had measured outlets in the floor, and they moved them. They had to jackhammer the floor and move the outlets, again, at their expense. They moved the washing machine vent and had to build a jut out over it. Again, their expense. We had to argue with them to get the ceiling height we wanted. The engineer did not want to modify their plan. They changed it, at our expense. We purchased 3 demential shingles and they were trying to put on cheaper ones. We caught them and they had to upgrade. There were many more issues but the house turned out beautiful. The reason we had power in getting things done is we had a construction to perm loan and each 1/3 progress had to be inspected before the bank would give builder money. The last inspection was so bad, the bank refused the builder payment until they removed the brick and re-bricked. It was bad. Keep checking the work and speak up. Sometimes installers dont know what they are installing so keep cool and be firm. Good luck. Your house looks beautiful.

Great video! Yes, fun times building during winter. We had the same issue when we built our house. It is overwhelming making all the decisions on floors, backsplashes. It’s fun though.

We put our quartz counter material on the walls as backsplash several years ago & highly recommend. Super attractive & beyond easy to keep clean.

For your backslash maybe u can use both! the tile above the range and the quartz everywhere else. But if only choosing one I would go with quartz. Very nice options!

Love the new update. Thank you for sharing. Curious if you ever consider doing the beautiful white oak floors throughout the house, including your mudroom/laundry room and bathrooms as well. I ask since you like not very busy and clean look. I think for the kitchen you should go with the countertop as the backsplash it will look amazing.
Also, I love how you’re getting an inground pool. Your backyard will truly be a outdoor paradise ❤

I have my backsplash the same as my countertop and it looks beautiful, easy to keep clean and more calming, I don’t like busy patterns. The tile you chose for your laundry room is perfect 🌺

We have a home on a slab! We love it. Only thing I don’t like is with tile the floor is cold. Wish it was all wood floors. Lots warmer. Your home is beautiful!

Roof suggestion, I think you would like Black Sable. My husband is a roofer in the Indianapolis area. The Black Sable three dimensional roof looks awesome with the Sherwin Williams Peppercorn or Iron Ore. since your going Charcoal or in the black family with the siding, you take a look at the Black Sable.
