    I have never come close to the grief and heartbreak over ANY situation in life than I experienced when my beloved baby of 19 years died in my arms from old age. I held her. I spoke to her. I kissed her nose and forehead and stroked her. I cried and at times wailed. I may move past it at some point, but I will never, ever get over her not being with me. Sleeping with me. Playing with me. Drinking water out of the sink faucet. I can't even bring myself to wash the sheets she laid on or the blanket I put around her to keep her warm. When she left this world, she took an unimaginable part of my heart with her.

      Understands Completely. Lost our Tuxedo cat, Female after 18 years. Then found a stray that was dumped @ camp. after a month, Our Beloved Tabby/Tabby cat is now Ours. Going on 2 years now. Have my 4 AM alarm clock back. this cat sleeps like a human, takes him a long time to even move so I can get up. You just never know where you will find him sleeping. Between my legs. Thinks he says, you're not moving me. Bedtime is a circus. Chest pawing, back to legs. this goes on for 30 minutes every night. A pet's true love for his person. Stares at the wife sleeping on the couch. If he can't wake her, my turn. The best nonelectric alarm clock you can have.

      @williamclark9624 I could tell when Tink, also a Tuxedo, would get up, play, and then jump in bed in time to sleep 2 or three hours before I would wake up. I always woke up exhausted with him holding me. Now I wake up exhausted because because I'm trying to adjust to him not being there. It's going to take a while because we had a routine for 15 years. I can't think of a better alarm clock. Cats always seem to be right on time :)

    I was born with infancy arthritis, when the pain gets too unbearable one of my cats will sit right on the spot and stay until her heat helps relieve the pain. She does it every single time. As soon as the pain leaves she moves somewhere else to sleep.

      Did you know that purring your cat makes might be doing even more than the heat? Apparently cats use their purr as their own healing and regenerative tool ... and ... we humans benefit from it too ... and some cats share it purposely, as yours probably is doing. :-) Search for something like: Purring . Healing mechanism. And the researcher name Elizabeth von Muggenthaler. It's amazing. (You have a lovely cat obviously!)

      My girls are also feral. Youngest one grew up sleeping with me because she was four months old when I brought her inside. Mom didn’t really sleep with me until she had lived with us for five years. I couldn’t pet her for the first two. Next to, she got to where she would come sit on the bed with me and then leave. Now, each cat takes a pillow left and right of my head. As for crepuscular, I’m the one who gets up in the middle of the night to go pee and disrupts everybody sleep cycle.

    My husband has a theory he calls “ The Photoelasticity of cats.” It means that the cats get much larger in the dark. When the lights go on, the cats shrink back to their normal sizes. We usually get 3 or 4 cats sleeping with us and by morning we are nearly falling out of bed, while the cats are scattered all over the bed.

      This is so relatable. My husband and I stretch waaaaay out when we sleep and we move a lot. We like to have one knee up and one leg stretched way out. We currently have a Queen sized bed and when even one cat sleeps with us we feel cramped. When all three sleep with us… there’s no where to move! We don’t want to kick them (but accidentally do in our sleeps sometimes) so we try not to move but then body parts start falling asleep so we lie awake in pain. It’s a nightmare. I prefer them NOT to sleep with us because we end up not sleeping as well for fear of kicking them or just from pure discomfort.

    Cats are pretty persistent if they want to sleep with you. If you leave them outside your bedroom door you might hear the song of their people all night. They can claw and rip up your carpet trying to get in. If you are sick they do not want to leave your side. Amazing an animal who can make it fine without you preferring your company. It really is a high compliment.

      Someone I knew who used to work in zoos, said that a cat's affection was like a wild animal choosing to keep you company. Adopted a feral kitten; she hated to be separated from me for an instant; she used to drop her play toy right by the door if I went out (made me feel sad). As she got more mature, the night time shenanigans calmed down. One morning, I was trying to sleep in (her time and my time weren't synched; I felt like 6:30am would be a good time to get up) and I caught her staring at me intently from the floor; went to sit up and she literally flew past me, smacking my face (first right side, then left) and landing on the floor on the other side of the bed. No claws, but definitely not "patty paws" either. Yep, I'm awake now...

      Last night I had to deal with two very large Maine Coon cats sleeping on my bed for a change*, forcing me into a weird position to fit my whole self actually in to my bed (especially when I woke up and needed to change position, and was constrained!), and today I have all kinds of weird aches and pains and cricks in my neck as a result 😹 It was windy and rainy all night, but my flat is a greenhouse and I definitely didn’t need that level of feline hot water bottle… I had all kinds of weird dreams where various limbs were injured, and I then woke up very hot and with bits of my body feeling numb due to a cat impinging on them 😏
      Despite all this… when I wake up sometimes and there are no cats on my bed, or even in my room, I feel a total sense of loss! 😿 I hope that when they hear my alarm or me moving about and showing signs of life, at least one of them will come in and come for cuddles, but sometimes it’s just a total snub because they’re happy and comfy where they are, and I eventually have to give up and get up without any cat bed-cuddles! 😿
      * This morning I did also wake up to a little kitten-cuddle-puddle at the end of the bed, with the both of them having been in a little warm pile for most of the night (with the exception of when the big bad ginger boy tried to climb the bedroom curtains while yelling at me until I sleepily made grumpy noises at him and reached an arm out of bed to nudge him in a different direction! Just as well they’re cute 😸)

    I had a gray tortious shell persion. Most intelligent cat I have ever seen. He did everything with me from crawling under my car to do repairs, on the bathroom sink as I shaved and even stood in the shower to watch me bath. If I called him, he dropped everything to see what I wanted. I wanted his company! When it was bedtime, I would wake up to find him sleeping on my neck, under my chin. Several times, he would wake me by laying on my face. LOL. That was a little smothering. I loved my cat. My cat loved me. It was an incredible experience and relationship. I have never stopped missing Nicholas, my best friend.

My last one always slept on my hip and since I have arthritis there it was always a warm spot and his weight was enough to help the pain ease off so that was a win win situation for us both. My current cat wants to sleep in a room by herself and comes to tell me it’s bedtime every evening. she has two beds, a litter box, and dry food, plus a closet with another bed and two shelves, and a cat tree, high places, low places, hiding places,rugs, toys, lots of windows in her bedroom. She’s a rescue who didn’t grow up with dogs and we have a dog that she has buffaloed during the day but I think she feels more secure in the room where the dog can’t go at night. A couple weeks after we adopted our guy he developed conjunctivitis in one eye. The vet thought it was an infection, but the drops didn't help and the other eye developed it too. He was ok with 1 eye, but with both eyes he could barely see and we could tell he was frightened. More so because he was still learning his new environment. Every night we carried him to bed with us so he wouldn't be left alone in the dark all night and would feel safer. A specialist determined it was herpes and changed drops and his conjunctivitis went away, but I think this helped him bond with us even more. Almost 12 years later he still comes to bed with us every night.

      Ugh I feel your pain I'm going through that very same thing right now. Worse is the doctor says not transferable. They couldn't have been more wrong as this week will be my 3rd visit to my eye doctor with my conjunctivitis that they swear I did not get from the cats because they can't transfer it, which I'm disabled and actually without getting off subject here pretty much incapacitated let's put it that way. I did get it from the the new kitten that brought it in and we can't get rid of it. The cost of meds has thankfully been covered by insurance but we're going on 2 almost 3 months now and I haven't had pink eye since I was 9 years old. I'm now 50. Idk how to even put it into words except now sleep deprivation along with the fun, funnies, and routine kitten to cat transformation😂. I forgot how much attention babies need. However It's now spread to my adult male but not my adult female. Makes zero sense. Best regards I know it's not hard but it's not easy either. Any suggestions that got you through? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. God bless ❤

      @dabzprincess92 Před 9 měsíci

    • @johnjr757
      @johnjr757 Před 9 měsíci +5

      @@dabzprincess92 Feline herpes is a respiratory infection in cats and it can be spread from cat to cat like a flu or cold. It is not transferrable to humans though.
      Yes, it's for life, but in our cat's case it hasn't been an issue. He's only ever had 2 other flareups and both were brought on by stress following a surgery. It's basically the equivalent of a person that gets cold sores. Usually not an issue, but things like stress or lowered immune system can cause a flare up.
      If it's Feline herpes the eye specialist suggested we give him lysine treats. We did the first couple years, but since he never really had an issue we haven't gotten them in years.
      I will say our regular vet didn't know what the issue was and since the eyedrops she gave us weren't working she suggested seeing the eye specialist. It took the specialist 5 minutes to figure out it was herpes because looking in his eye he found previous scarring. He stopped those drops and gave us different ones and his eyes cleared up pretty quickly.

    We have a cat that was abandoned in the field next to our vet’s clinic at about 3 weeks old. Our vet took her in and nursed her back to health. We had recently lost a cat and went to pick up her ashes. They were waiting for us! Mike had her named before I even saw her! One thing we’ve noticed about Nixie (Onyx) is that she doesn’t do normal kitten things; for example, she doesn’t make biscuits-I don’t think she had a chance to nurse.
    She has several sleeping positions. She starts the night sleeping under the covers in the space where my knees are drawn up. She spends the whole night there during the winter. My husband sleeps with one leg straight and the other drawn up. Sometime during the night she’ll crawl out from under the covers and sleep in the triangle my husband’s legs form. Her next spot is on my legs-by that time, I’ve straightened my legs so she sleeps on one leg and puts her head on the other. She spends the morning watching the activity in our holly tree-birds and squirrels entertain her. But when she’s worn out from her morning watch, she sleeps next to me in my recliner. We think all these different positions are because she wasn’t raised in a litter but alone in a cage at our vet’s office.😢

The other 2 cats are not as tense, much more relaxed. Maybe it's a character thing? I don't know. Just odd that he is so extreme compared to the others. also he always wants to rub on my face and climb my chest up, which hurts alot.

    My cats are so in sync with me that if at any time my breathing or heart rate goes up, whether I'm having an anxiety attack, exercising, crying, or, um, enjoying my partner, they come running with big eyes and start pawing at me and meowing like they think I'm dying. I have to pet them and talk to them in a calm voice to let them know I'm ok, then they go back to whatever they were doing. :)

    I think it's mostly because they like to feel the warmth of our bodies. Also, we've taken care some strays in the past the grew up together as kittens. They also do the same whenever they're sleeping, they would always find another one that they can sleep alongside with. I think it's a natural cat habit/instinct.

    The simple answer to the title is because you’re warm!! Anyone who’s commented about the loss of their fur baby, hang in there, eventually you’ll be able to just remember the good fun you had together. If you’re grieving and live in the UK, cats protection has a grief line number to support you through this.

    My two boys (4/2 yrs) are both rescues from the street. It was difficult for the youngest, Eddy, because he was tossed in an alley at 2am when we heard him crying. He was only 2weeks old! I was able to coax him, and he fenangled his tiny self through my open window from the rain and has been with me ever since! He's now 2yrs old and sleeps on my chest! My oldest kitty, Harry, was completely abandoned on the street at only 1 year. Now, after 3 yrs, he won't leave my side! Many times, he and Eddy will pile up on my chest while I'm watching TV or beat me to my bed at night! I love them both so much. Great video!❤

    Just because they sleep at your feet I don’t think means they trust you any less. My British shorthair used to literally race me up the stairs to my bed, every night. But he always slept head furthest away and by my legs stretched out. We were extremely close, I don’t think him sleeping by my head would have meant we were closer!

    I really love cats, ever since I was a baby there was always a cat sleeping next to me. I adopted many cats throughout my life time, and rescued others, all with unique personalities and sleeping patterns. Right now I have three cats, with various sleeping arrangements. Caesar will sleep either by my chest or even above my pillow, he also likes sleeping next to me under the blankets and my arm around him…he is 14 years old. His sister Cleopatra, died from cancer at age 12 and I noticed he still misses her so he has decided to be near me more now. Copper, 12 years old, sleeps above my pillow, while Annie, much younger, sleeps on my legs or between them. Sometimes it’s hard to have Annie be there because her weight on my legs, I get this achey feeling which wakes me up during the night. I adopted Annie after her family members moved to another city. It wasn’t long when she decided to sleep next to me and on my legs. Annie keeps an eye on me and my breathing during the night. When my alarm goes off, she is there on my chest and in my face trying to wake me up, all the time mewing and licking my face…🤣.
    Above all of this, they take turns on where they will sleep next, and alternate between them, when one gets off another follows in pursuit ….😉. They definitely are my constant companions. 👍❤️🙏🏼

    My Jasper loves to sleep on the bed with me. He's chosen the space around my knees and I think he looks forward to my rolling over so he can snuggle in the space between my knees and butt. He definitely won't sleep up by my head or chest because I think my C-PAP machine makes him nervous. I bought a light weight, inexpensive blanket for him for the colder months when he wants to sleep on the bed but I'm up during the daytime. I fix it up like it's a little nest for him and he has all his little stuffed animals nearby, or as I call them, his "babies". He's my only child so he's pretty pampered.

He will rarely sleep near me except occasionally sleeping on my legs when i am in my recliner. He does like the sleeping on the recliner anyway so I could just be in his way, lol.

While the male one is very needy, he meows a lot for attention, and at night he would sleep close to my foot and when the other cat is not around, he would stroke my face with his body (or ass) purring very loudly.. cute.. but annoying :D I guess my bed is in the cross fire of a territorial dispute
