    that tamron 20mm is an awesome lens, it's always on one of my cameras (A7iii) when doing weddings... it's super wide, the distortion is minimal, at f/4-5 super super sharp, and the autofocus is good enough too... all that for 200$ if u buy it on used market. Awesome value for it's price

    F2.8 is pretty standard for macro lens, and these are 1:2 ratio! However, macro is rarely this wide. Macro lens tends to hunt in autofocus, so I guess these lenses are loud and slow. Macro lens is also usually very sharp. Can’t beat the price though. It’s an interesting choice.

    Nice review sir! Which is better travel friendly? 24mm or 20mm ? Ill do most street, landscape, cityscape photography. Also a subject with a good background view.

      You can't crop out, but you can crop in! Consider the 20mm but both are great photography lenses 😀

    Stefan, this was a great review. I always like to see about having something I buy to be a "multi-tasker", so I wondered about the following: I have the Sony A7C coming. I already own the Sony a6600 with the Sony 16-55mm f2.8 G and the Sony 70--350mm f4.5-6.3 G. I plan on using this for photos, and I like a lightweight setup for traveling. Now, I plan on using the A7C totally for video & vlogging. I don't have any FF lenses yet, and I am looking at the Tamron 20mm f2.8 and Tamron 24mm f2.8. EIther of these I think would work for video and vlogging (will have an off-camera mic, so not worried about the clicking. I like the close focus and .5 macro of the lenses so I could use this on the a6600. I have held my a6600 at arm's length with the 16-55 (at 16mm) to see what 24mm equivalent would look like and it is fine. I wonder if the 20mm would be better for vlogging and then is a 30mm equivalent on the a6600 or go with the more standard 24mm with an equivalent of 36mm - for things like walking around street lens.

    THe tamron 35 is the very reason I bought a Sony system. And the distortion is more of a character - I oftentimes disable lense corretion

  • @hirschkuh1982
    @hirschkuh1982 Před 2 lety +1

    Is the distortion too much on the 20mm if it's only use is landscape? In camera corrections lower the picture quality a lot I think
    Please help

      All 3 have quite a bit of distortion I'm afraid. Price point is good though

    I never undestood that move by tamron. They are 2.8 you are not getting them any faster and there is already a 17-28 and a 28-75 same aperture. If it would make a huge difference in sharpness or distortion i would understand but 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Third of the price + Macro. There is a market.

    Hi Stefan, thanks for your content. I'm wanting to get a wide-angled lens for my A7IV for internal vlogging in a tight space. Would you say one of these would be OK? ...ie noting what you're saying about stills over film
