    Hey guys! Towards the end of the video where I compare the 3 focal lengths together it's supposed to be labelled 20mm 24mm 35mm - it's currently the opposite way around. Sorry about that!!

      I’m loving your videos! I’d love a beginners guide to a set up with suggestions of budget friendly but well performing lenses. I’m so confused with all the options. I love your style of photography, and want to do similar in a self portrait style way, for my own creativity and content creating. I’d love you to break down your go to lenses and for fashion / beauty / lifestyle photography as well as options for different price points. 🙈 I’m seeing sooo many options in the ones that you’ve tested and I’d love to know out of all of them, which would you recommend. Xxxx

    The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 is perfect for cars photos, interior and exterior. I see 3 (photographers) set of photos from a Exotic Car Show, perfect photos. But I love my Sigma 35mm art f/1.4. I think 35mm is the perfect lens for almost everything except landscape or architecture photography.
    Thanks Julia for your videos.

    I picked up the 24mm for $180 US and I'm so impressed by the sharpness and the almost macro close focusing. Haven't experienced any issues with focusing, Sony cameras are already great at doing this compared to everything else I've ever used. it's my go to lens!

    I'm not a huge fan of the current generation of tamrons, the plastic feels like eggshells. But I needed a 20mm for a trip and I didn't have the sony G 1.8 available. I assumed I'd send the thing back but it won me over. It was very sharp corner to corner, wide open, and allowed me to get some really breathtaking astro shots with very little perceivable coma. And since it's as small as my 35mm 2.8 zeiss, it makes a great travel companion with that and the 55 1.8

    Hi Julia, I definitely liked the 35mm focal length images better. I too love the 35mm focal length but lately I have been shooting outside my comfort zone. I've been shooting with primes specifically the 40mm, 50mm, and 85mm focal lengths. They force me to think and compose differently. I think I had become a slave to my zoom lenses. I can know better appreciate the prime lens image qualities of sharpness, color rendition, bokeh and dynamic range. Shooting with primes has been an epiphany for finding creativity in my photography work.

    35 might be better suited for not distorting peoples features when doing portraits, but I think the 20mm is more versatile for me. it will make it easier to snap some wide shots in small spaces and the awesome tamron 1:2 macro design is super nice for some close ups of flowers and such. Imma order the 20mm and pray that I love it much more than the 35, which I find to be too tight in a lot of cases but also not tight enough in others.

    @stephanerivard5919 Před rokem

    I actually got my hands on the 24mm on Marketplace for $260.00 CAD, and for the price it's awesome on my A7ii as a wide angle lens. Since I have a Sony G 20mm f1.8 as an ultra-wide lens, the 20mm Tamron was not an option. The autofocus being slow, it's not a recommendation for vlogging in my opinion. The G 20mm with it's aperture ring is a WAY better lens in that specific application(vlogging).
    Since I have a 55mm f1.8 Sony Zeiss for portrait, the 35mm Tamron was not needed either, so my choice of getting the 24mm was the best decision for covering the gap.

    Hi Julia! I love your video. I want to buy one of these lens to film workout videos but I want my full body to be in it while I look close up. Which lens do you think I should go for?

    8:44 seems like 20 and 35 swapped. More compression on the right image.

    Not much of a focus test if you walk backwards at the same time (= same distance). The problem with these macros are the movement to move the distance ring is reeeaaally long. I would like to know if it copes with normal walking speed and the photographer stationary( for street photos).

    Tamron 35/2.8 = value king for Sony full frame :)
    IQ is superb and it's the 35mm lens to focus the closest by far, so a very versatile all in one focal length. =) Plus, it's light and not so big. However, an f2 would surely be even nicer. =)

    Hi Julia, loved your content reviews!
    Im kinda confused between 20mm and 24mm F2.8 lenses, which one is more travel friendly? Ill do some street, landscape, cityscape, structure photography, which one do you prefer?

    Got Sigma 24mm 3.5 and Tamron 35mm 2.8, both with 1:2 macro, so a nice and ok priced combination if you want/need the 1:2 macro possibility 👍 ... Also the Tamron 24mm 2.8 has 1:2 macro, and is even some cheaper... I just learned 😀

    Hi Julia , thank you for sharing. 😊👍 I own the 24/2,8 it is a very sharp lens . But for me the AF is to noisy and does not always focus well. Especially by filming the lens does not work like an original Sony. Have a good day, Armin

      @juliatrotti  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks so much! Yeah with photography I found the opposite, it was great at focusing. I also used the 24 and 35 for my live stream camera and it focused really well there too, although I was mostly just a stationary subject since I'm just sitting down for that haha. I wonder if we should start including some video style reviews for these lenses as well as for stills...

      Julia Trotti Thanks for your answer. For filming I use the old 24-70/4 , it is perfect . The image quality with the Tamron lens is very good . I use it with manual focus😉 . Have a good evening, Armin

    is that sound normal, or my lens has problem? 🤔🤔

    I have the Tamron 24 2.8 and it is a very good wide angle lens for landscape or semi-macro shots. I need a 35mm too, as an allround, but f2.8 is narrow for such a lens. Samyang 35 1.4 seems the best for now.

      @@paganmin1214 I have not tried it for astrophotography, but it is great for everything else. It is cheap, light, and has a very good build quality. It is dust and moisture resistant too.

    LOL. I agree with 35mm. I use a Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 mostly at 35mm but love the option to go wider when needed without needing to stop the vibe by changing lenses. :) Great vid.
