Nice job on a neat vise. I paint using a turntable, beats walking around the part and limits the spread of overspray. I attached a 24 inch disc of half inch plywood to an old lazy susan base. I cover it with cardboard and run tape around the edge of the disc. When it gets cruddy after multiple uses, I replace the cardboard. Works great.
That really is a great idea, I need to do something similar because I paint soooo many vises. Thanks for a great idea!
Have u ever had or seen a E.C . Sterns vise ? I picked one up awhile back, it’s pretty unique/ cool looking design, I’m guessing made in 1940’s.
I've never even heard of that maker! That's very cool, guessing pretty rare vise as well! Nice, you should definitely CZcams it and share it with the world.
Hope they bought or chose to buy them all. I can see student’s arguing over who gets to use which vise that day
Looks like they took them all. I told them if they decide they don’t want one or all they can send them back. My son in law could easily transport them back to Indiana. I’ll probably continue restoring the other vises and send them in December.
@@shopdoc fantastic! Just has someone come buy one of mine. It’s amazingly satisfying to know that something you restored is back at work for someone
It is not cast. It is forged steel
Yes it is. Thank you for pointing that very important fact out! The fact that it is steel makes it much stronger than an equivalent cast iron would be.
