Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s first tour in 10 years ended with an emotional series of 10 concerts at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden. Live In New York City, featuring performances from the last two nights of that tour (chronicled partially in an Emmy Award-winning HBO special), captures “the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, house-rocking, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, love-making, legendary E Street Band” as Bruce and his blood brothers embarked on an exciting new musical chapter together. that song reminds me my own depression few years ago......and somewhere it bwwn part of my resurection. those who think that springsteen is only somebody who yell instead of signing must listnen the whole work of that man. he is a true legend, and much more than only born in the usa or badland. for me he is the goat of music.

Seen him 29 times live and counting. Never seen the same show twice. Beyond compare as a writer and performer, and an amazing human being to boot.

Firm believer that this is Bruce’s best song. One of those that he keeps close and only plays everyonce in a while because it still hits him. Honestly the best writing I’ve ever heard. He captures the feeling of life all the ups and downs all the cognitive dissidence and shitty deeds along the road. All the good too sprinkled in between.

Always been a Springsteen fan, but it is only now, in my mid 30's, married and a father, do I really appreciate the immense talent this man has as a musician and a wordsmith. Thunder Road, Born to Run, Glory Days, I'm on Fire: those all make sense when you are young. But this song, The River, Racing in the Streets, Drive All Night, Brilliant Disguise and One Step Up can only be appreciated with age and experience.

This version of The Promise has got to be one the best live songs he has ever done! Your emotional core seems to be in lockdown as you listen to each and every word. Tears flow, and you feel wonderful sense of being, able to bear witness to one of the greater performances you will ever see or hear. Lifes lessons of hard knocks and trying to hold on to your dreams in the face of many adversities.....................
The all concerts he played in NY in 2000 are maybe the best rock concerts ever done

Bruce is such a wonderful musician. So many masterpieces with extraordinary storytelling. I think this is my favourite but there are so many! Racing in the street, used cars, the rising, into the fire, stolen car and I'm only scratching the surface. I think springsteen is the greatest songwriter of all time.

I went to 10 shows on the 1999-2000 reunion tour: 3 in Los Angeles, 2 in Anaheim, 1 in Las Vegas, and the last 4 in NYC. I got to see him perform The Promise in both Los Angeles and New York.

No imagining for me. The final reunion shows drew many a tear for me.
One of my best friends & I were there at the Garden for this show, 21 years ago tonight, on July 1st 2000. This was from the final night of this legendary 1999-2000 reunion tour. I also attended the opening North American show on July 15th 1999 in North Jersey, the first of those 15 sold out nights at the old Meadowlands Arena, and also the September 24th show at the old Spectrum in Philly... His legendary 50th Birthday show. 👍
Was at every one but this one blew them all away.
