Utterly mind-blowingly phenomenal; an all-round triple BRAVOS performance !!! And the soloist has everything: great voice, great technique (and great looks, too) !!!! 😯😯🙂🙂 WOW !!!! Added later: I am an 80 years old concert soloist and choirmaster, and spent decades trying to achieve such a clear low range. He has it all!! Also plaudits to the chorus and director. We see too little of him, but he is obviously a master musician. In all my years in music, I have to confess to be overwhelmed by this performance. Again, triple BRAVOS and best wishes!!!😃😃😃 (I had to sing the last passage up an octave: envious but admiring of this young man. 🙂🙂) I heard Monteur in his late 80's and the wonderful Stokowski at over 80 in Boston and later in London( all marvelously nuanced interpretations) Of course I am not in tha6 outstanding class, but like them, I'm aiming for 100, to make good music, and support the fine younger musicians and directors I may find, until God calls me home. I hope there is music in Heaven !!!

It takes the whole group to make a piece of music lie this. The octavist is absolutely superb. But the instrumentalists and the young ladies in the choir are all very necessary to make this work. Bravo! Slava Dmitry !
Esta maravillosa canción ucraniana, lleva más de sesenta años causando en mi un hondo sentimiento, a pesar de no comprender la letra. Esta interpretación es magnífica. Esas últimas notas, increíbles.
I'm a bass-baritone and can't even come close to this young man's vocal range. I have always been fascinated by how low the male voice can sing!!! Russians seem to have a monopoly on low notes in their folk and classical music both in performance and compositions. I would love to examine this young man's vocal cords!! They must be massive!!
Watching this amazing performance I was so struck by his concentration. I saw him carefully inhale, pause, and then "sing" the last incredible note. Was that careful inhalation more for sustaining the sound or for the sound itself? or both? Is the length of the vocal cord (the uvula?) and breath control the key elements, relying on each other? The performer is obviously very large, but is that alone accountable for the length of his vocal cord (uvula)? Does age have anything to do with it as suggested elsewhere? (I sound like a three-year old, why, why, why. Well, I am, just older.)
In so many cultures it is all about the tenors and sopranos. You just got to love the Russians for respecting the bass.

What a stunningly rich voice this young man has! And what a great choir!
Beautiful music full of feeling, amazing oktavist voice, incredibly handsome people, elegant clothing and last but not the least, giant dorito ukelele. This video is in so many ways marvelous!
This Ukelele is a banura
@@dhrvb balalaika
Hahahaha dorito ukelele, i remeber now the advertisement. LOL
You are right, fantastic voice, ensemble and singers! Also in the dorito ukelele!
Some info: The dorito ukelele is the balalaika, which is marvelous instrument Russian/slavic origin…
The bandura is the other one bigger with a nice hole from the resonance box and more strings. It expanded into other areas like the Spain as the name Bandurria (similar name), or/and laúd coming from al-ud in arab, in other areas kizara, kobza….probably this family comes from the greek pandura… but who knows
Big hugs!

As a Finn I listen a lot of old Russian songs. Some tell me that I am "weird" when I listen melancholy music which is not actually melancholy for me. This kind of songs are power music for me. Bass singers from Russia are awesome as well as baritones and other type of voices. I love deep voice singers and I am sure that Dmitry will become an international bass singer. We lost Dima Hvorostovsky but his recordings and beautiful memory will survive for ever. Dima Seleznev as a bass singer will make an international carrieer. Kuban Cossack choir makes good job too. this is an old Ukrainian song. Regards from Finland.

It's so wonderful and such a change to hear a group that values a deep voice. I get really tired of tenors!
Je suis d'accord avec vous ! 😄

We do not see enough of the Kuban Cossack Choir on You Tube... Copyright issues, I suspect. But this is a fabulous organization... Many thanks for posting.
Totally agree. Thanks for posting!
I had the privilege of meeting the Don Cossack Choir wonderful memories they come to our home for dinner
Search in Russian: Кубанский казачий хор, and more will come up.
Forget You Tube, they should be touring America.
Right?! I wish there would be DVD's of their performances to buy! They are more authentic and proud than any other cossack choir I`ve ever seen.. I get goosebumps everytime!
ГОЛОС КАК С НЕБЕСА.КРАСАВЕЦ

When the lead singer hit those low notes. They were coming from way down below his boots............!

What a rich voice! One can never tire of listening to him.
I'm a bass-baritone and can't even come close to this young man's vocal range. I have always been fascinated by how low the male voice can sing!!! Russians seem to have a monopoly on low notes in their folk and classical music both in performance and compositions. I would love to examine this young man's vocal cords!! They must be massive!!
i'm a contrabass and am currently learning several oktavist pieces, trying to train my voice to this level
